    congrats on hitting 6 months!! I’d have the same bad dreams. i’d imagine myself as super masculine and couldn’t recognize myself which made me hesitant to start. I still have bad cramps but i’m scared to up my dose due to my fear of over masculinization. i’m glad to see someone has a lot of the same thoughts prior to starting!

      Oh, wow, interesting that we've had a similar experience! I think the most reassuring thing for me was knowing that I could go back to a low dose if I didn't like anything. I hope you find what works best for you.

    Thanks for this. I'm nb and probably starting t next month. I've been waffling for years and decided to move forward when I realized all my "cons" were about other people. I am almost 40 and am just tired of feeling uncomfortable in my own body. If I feel happy in myself and that ends up weirding people out, so be it.

      Amazing. Yeah, there's a point where it just doesn't matter anymore what other people might think, and it's awesome hearing you're there. If you do go on T, I hope it gives you even more confidence to keep pushing toward feeling comfortable with yourself.

    Hi Hannah or Jonah! It is definitely a cool name that suits you really well!! I was watching this video now as I am questioning everything and thought of asking something when I realized I had already commented so long ago.. So I really identify w your way of seeing things like the restroom topic, in the end we live in a really binary world w a lot of “rules”.. I find that a lot of trans people seem to really get attached to this cis and binary ideas as a sort of validation.. so my question I think is that if now after 2y, do you feel like you do indeed need to use the man’s restroom for safety? Idk how it is where you are from or how public spaces are but where I am it can definitely be a big anxiety factor whenever I have to be in public spaces, or university.. as if I was being tested all the time.. well maybe it is just my anxiety speaking.. I absolutely love your videos and energy! Please keep updating us!

      Hey! When I'm out in public, I'm read as male all the time, so I use the men's restroom because it's most comfortable for me. I don't typically worry about my safety at all in public spaces, which I know is a huge point of privilege. I remember being so scared of using the men's room, but people really just wanna pee and leave haha

      @@jonahradeke thank you for getting back, yeah i imagine.. when we think about it while we are not as male 100% of the time it can be so anxiety inducing.. i remember your video on the worry of over masculinization, i related so deeply! is it something you feel is completly over (considering also your singing voice that you shared abt). Actually on that i would love a video on going on T as someone who sings and the adaptation and fears, commom myths etc

    • @jonahradeke
      @jonahradeke  Год назад +1

      I'm definitely over my fear of over-masculinization. That mostly stemmed from a fear of the unknown. I didn't know exactly how my body would respond to T, and that was scary. But I love how I look now!
      And cool, I'll try to talk more about how T has influenced my singing in a future video.

    So, when will we see results?

  • @evastephan9441
    @evastephan9441 3 года назад +2

    So practically you were "going on T" for no specific reason at all. You were mostly ok with you body, don't like more body hair and akne, but since you are adaptable you can get used to it? Just because you want to look somehow different? But you are doing it for yourself... to look less female ... for yourself.
    But you betrayed yourself definitely as a woman with your bathroom statement. You think about going to the men's restroom for the comfort of others.

      Hello! Thanks for taking the time to comment. It seems like you care a lot about how true I'm being to myself, so thank you for that. I also care about being true to myself, which was why going on T was a tough decision and one that I took a lot of time thinking about. It definitely wasn't easy, and, like you mentioned, I did have many conflicting thoughts through the process. As with most big decisions, there wasn't a clear "right" or "wrong," "good" or "bad." I'm sure you've faced similar struggles too where you've had to weigh out both sides and determine what feels best for you. That's what I tried to do here. Ultimately, I discovered that going on T would allow me to be the truest to myself, and I'm seeing every day that I was right.

    Do a video when you are 40 years old!! Because everyone knows the decisions we made when we were teenagers, are so relevant later on in life!! This whole Trans movement is Anti-women. No matter how much Testosterone you take, you will never be a real man, Pinocchio has a better chance. I mean no disrespect to you. I don’t think the young girls that transition is going to do anything good for what is going on mentally. All Trans people should wait until they are in their mid 20’s. Our brains are not fully developed until then! I feel sorry for this generation, the adults in their lives are letting them down, in affirming their delusions!!

    • @jonahradeke

      Hey Daniel! Thanks for your concern. I know it can seem scary when people don't fit into your expectations of how the world works. I remember being scared before starting testosterone. You're right--it's a big decision! I actually thought about it for over a year, weighing things out, wondering what people would think about me. (I'm 26 by the way!) What pushed me forward, though, was wanting to feel more comfortable in my life, which I hope for everyone, and you too!

      I wanted to jump in here to reply to the idea of T harming 'women' and 'girls'. I'm nb afab and my natural t levels are higher than standard. And you know what? Nothing is broken. How do you feel about people who take hormonal birth control? E replacement for postmenopausal people?

    • @danielewing3033
      @danielewing3033 2 года назад

      @@Shackbanshee I am fine with it, that doesn't change who they biologically are! Nobody knows what kind of mental side effects this is going to have in, the long run. When the natural cycles of womanhood take hold of these GIRLS when they are older. I have no problem with adults doing this, when their brains are fully developed at the age of 25. I am not Trans phobic and I have a gay twin brother, I also lean on the Left on most social issues. But this whole issue of kids changing gender is insane. I really hope I didn't offend you, also what is afab mean? I am assuming nb is non binary. Take care XOXO

      As with any medical choice, there are always risks involved. Generally, if a kid is interested in transitioning, they'll go on puberty blockers to buy them some time to think before deciding whether or not to go on hormones. All of this happens in conversation with the patient, family, and doctor. It's true that we don't know the long-term effects yet, but it's pretty generally agreed upon that the benefits outweigh the risks at this point. Trans kids are especially at risk for anxiety, depression, and suicide. Not providing them with gender-affirming care can literally be life-threatening.
