As winter drags on, a popular community honey hole that has gotten a good deal of attention is the Great Wall of Chalmette, formally known as the Lake Borgne Surge Barrier.
It’s a great winter fishing spot for speckled trout that has proven itself over the years. Many great reports come from The Wall and I personally have caught many fish here, everywhere from The Wall itself, to the adjacent flat and the rock pile stretching down the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet.
So it makes sense that you should go here for your next fishing trip, right?
Well…wrong.
In this video I am going to give you 3 reasons as to why you should not go to The Wall to catch speckled trout this winter - or ever.

I will teach you everything I know to catch speckled trout, redfish and more on Louisiana's coast.

Good advice. Getting out of comfort zone is important. Exploration is vey much needed
Thanks
Thanks for the good advice. I live in Texas, but I am sure this applies here also.
Never fishing before the wall, is there any launch to kayak fishing the wall?
Eddies launch would be the one to use, about maybe 2 miles to wall. But going through 2 sets of locks with that current in a kayak would be a bad idea man.
@@Marsh-Mechanic I heard you. Thanks.
I agree with marsh mechanic! Don’t try that in a yak bro. Too dangerous. There are plenty of safer options to fish from the yak and still catch.
I 100% agree with you about “the Great Wall of Chalmette” I would much rather be moving around looking for fish, then sitting next to 20 boats, catching a few trout, or even a good mass of them !
The marsh is way too big to ever fish next to anybody!! Kelly
Good stuff!
