I think this will be my next car purchase and soon I hope. I figure that the nearly $10,000 saved over the comparable competition will buy the first 45,000 miles worth of gas. Friends have purchased German competitors in the past and have paid dearly in maintenance costs. Acura has a reputation for very good reliability. The TLX is a very good looking car that will fit into my conservative life style. I am old enough to think that this is likely to be the last car I buy and it might as well be a nice one.

Already the Type S, with manual transmission from 2008 was a performer for the price and most people overlooked the overall capability of the car. I would expect nothing less than a revised type S for 2021. SH-AWD, performs well on inclement weather conditions with a lot of Acura cars. I own a 2011 MDX and the torque vectoring along with the outstanding AWD and 300 HP, provide a lot of power to move a large family SUV. I can only imagine 355 HP in the new TL, seems like a good concept to make every day driving fun

So far though my Stinger has also ran flawlessly--buttons are also still tight--i have even gone to public drag night--4.27 to 60 and 12.7 in the quarter with no launch control.I will be in the market in 2024 or 2025--cars in this TT V6 class should be putting out 400 and hopefully faster numbers then my already quick stinger.

Superb review indeed. Although whomever created that chart, outlining the Audi S4? It does not have a DCT(Although the predecessor did). Since 2018 in the US, the B9 Audi S4 comes with a ZF-8 Speed. The other thing is that the Audi S4 does come with a flat bottom steering wheel. The unit you drove, had the heated steering wheel, hence the round steering wheel, and not the standard flat-bottom. Also you mentioned, the seats missing the Alcantara, well that's standard in the Audi. The quilted stitched leather seats are an upgrade. All in all, it's great to review a new vehicle, but it's EQUALLY as important to know your competition.

I unsubscribed from TFLCar a while ago, and y'know what? Paul's brought me back around
No offense to Roman and Nathan, but this guy gets it

Nice, But why didn’t Aucra do this years ago, The NSX been out for years. I don’t think it’s anything new.

228 miles?! That thing is on the track and not even through it’s break in period!! I kid, I kid- great review. I, too, am glad to see Acura producing Type-S models again!

@The Fast Lane car Thank you TFL and Paul for an excellent review and Paul is a fantastic reviewer. What a spot on review. I like the the way Paul blends in the technical aspects and explanations and that makes the overall review stand out and more interesting. Almost like sitting in a classroom with Paul. Please have Paul do more reviews. I have been waiting a long time for the TLX-S’s arrival and I plan on buying one later this year. Thank you again and looking forward to the next session of “TFL Reviews with Paul “.

I’m happy to see that Acura made this car at a time when everyone is buying SUV’s. Now we need to see a real comparison test between this, the BMW M340i, M-B C43 AMG, Audi S4, Lexus IS 350 and perhaps the Genesis V70.

Why does the former STIG have to follow the lead on the track? Matt Farah was exempt and was able to drive it closer to its limit...

Great question. It certainly seemed like Paul was handcuffed having to follow another journalist in the blue TLX...

Really enjoyed this drivers professional thoughts and interpretation of what he is experiencing driving this Type S.

Glad to hear that Acura has changed their power steering. The last TLX I drove had freak’n miserable power steering with zero feel!

Excellent video & nice job Acura with the new turbo V6! I love the SH AWD and that it’s still a highlight in 2021 😀

This sounds like a Acura spokesman/sales pitch.

Those gauges are from a Rsx And one of the reasons why I will buy this car. Best analog gauge from Acura

My first car I ever bought was the CL Type S because I couldn’t afford the E46 (3 series) optioned the way I wanted. Great performance bargain at the time. I have to say I’m disappointed with this offering. I would’ve preferred they made the instrument cluster all digital and have better fuel economy. Great looking car though.

Sport+ should disable Acurawatch. If you're driving on the track, having Acurawatch on could upset the balance of the car if it auto-brakes at the wrong time.
