@@natewhite8845 I got the first gen contextreme DWS. Thankfully they improved them. I think they're going for the third gen of them. The first gen had way too soft of a sidewall. It also took a long time for the release of fluid that is used to release the tread from the mold too long to fall off. Turn out to be a very slippery tire at first. The extreme ones are made for the American market. For the most part I prefer Michelin. But I get my michelins used. I pay less than half the price and they last a couple years. I doubt new ones would last more than three on my car cuz I can't rotate. The new Falken's are very good
Oh, I mean the conti extreme contacts, not the dws, I don't need all that here in socal. I'm on Falken 510s now, and while they are amazing, they didn't last very long. Excellent tires though.
Cadillac CT4 V 2.7 and CT5 V 3.0 are competitors too. Edit: CT5 won a recent comparison (forgot if motortend or caranddriver, one of the two) against G70 and TLX.
lol I don't think so, just simply look at the previous gen TLX, current gen TLX interior is the best looking interior if they don't have that stupid touch pad
I test drove a new TLX A-Spec recently and thought it was very nice. Not German luxury car level, but very good. I think for a $53K (USD) car though, the Type S falls short. Acura needed to step it up for that version. I test drove the last gen G70 Sport (w/6-speed manual) a couple years ago and thought it was pretty nice, but again not German luxury level. The new G70 looks nicer, but I’ve not been in one yet.
You are exactly right, FWD platform... no fun, and that interior looks gross, doesn't even compare to the g70 interior. S*** box written all over it! Love the G70 though!
I got a stinger after covid hit when car prices were so cheap. I'd have the G70 if it had as much practicality as the Stinger. That huge hatch lid on the back makes it perfect to be able to drive on big family trips without compromising comfort even if the G70 is the better drivers car and maybe even a better ride in Comfort.
I completely understand why people like the G70. I seem to be the minority that prefers the Type S. I’ve always owned and liked Hondas and Acuras and the design just speaks to me. The styling is amazingly tasteful and that car strikes the perfect balance for a daily driver in my opinion. I just can’t like the styling on the G70
I'd go with the Genesis. Better looking inside and out. And if you're worried about standing out, there are Acuras everywhere. I still rarely see Genesis'.
Test drove these two back to back last week. I liked some things about the Acura but the Genesis was overall much more appealing and felt substantially quicker.
@@ASecureLab yes, best balance of size vs fun is different for everyone as practicality gets involved. I am looking at replacing the stinger with something bigger, not much space is left for the front passenger when a rear facing seat is installed behind him. I also daily BRZ which is much smaller than all cars discussed here.
Type S owner here. There is launch control, just not a button triggered one. It’s a brake boost type and will let you hold rpm in Sport +. Also, the touchpad is awesome for the most part but takes a hit in CarPlay, where if they can get the true touch to work would fix everything. Car is more than quick enough and turns heads in the Blue, which pops like crazy in the sun. The fact I’ve only seen one other Type S to the 20 G70’s makes the ownership experience even more special. Bring on the haters lol.
Which is why I chose to place an order for a 2022 Type-S myself as it’s more rare and checks off the boxes of what I look for in a car. Also brand experience I currently own a 2016 TLX and this will be a welcome upgrade! Going for Tiger Eye Pearl on black!
If the car doesn't say launch control and you can't see boost rising. It's not a real launch control. You can brake boost any automatic car on the planet
I purchased my 2019 Genesis G70 3.3.T in April of 2019. Currently over 68K miles and no problems. Only scheduled maintenance and replace a set of tires 😁😀
I have a 2019 G90, amazing driver with no issues. And an original 2015 G80 from when it was under Hyundai, 150,000 miles and minor issues all covered under 125,000 mile extended warranty. I don't know if I could ever buy another car.
@@genesisg7022have you rust proofed it yearly? I feel like this is the only true way to avoid changing things like control arms and other mechanical parts prone to rusting.
I've got a Stinger GT2 AWD and an MDX Advance with SH-AWD. Not exactly the same cars here, but similar because the Kia is basically a G70 with a usable backseat and the hatch is awesome. Love it, but I am a bit of a car slut so 2 years is usually about as long as I hold onto something. My point is that the TLX was something that I was interested in because of the experience with the MDX. That SH-AWD is no joke and I believe that the TLX is a double wishbone like the MDX and it does make a difference to me. My thinking is that if the MDX can feel as small and sporty when driving it then the TLX should be amazing. Problem is that the backseat and trunk are a major step back from the Stinger. For a car that is that damn long (it is not a small vehicle) it has to have a semi-usable backseat. The real problem is that I just love the Stinger more than I thought that I would for this long. Biggest problem I have is that the wife has discovered sport mode and enjoys taking out people at the stop lights. I didn't realize that I married a 16 year old boy.

I feel like this model G70 in white doesn't do it for me. Now this comparison would have been even better if this was the G70 launch edition. The wheels and that gray color definitely give this model a meaner sportier look which would've definitely been on par with the Type S looks.

I feel that the Type-S could've been so much more especially considering it's an all-new everything basically. They put driving dynamics top priority as it should be at Honda. The problem is that it came at a significant cost. Small interior/trunk for its external dimensions. Heaviest in the class which cost it in acceleration. Sure, once you get going or are on a track, the dynamics shine and it feels light on its feet, but does it necessarily translate to a quicker lap time? I think that's where Acura could have gotten a bit more aggressive with keeping the weight in check or at least given it more power (380 range).

This might not be a popular opinion but for my money I would take the TLX Type-S. I don't daily drive on a track to get to and from work and with our nasty Manitoba winters I would much prefer the control of the TLX. Also long term reliablity historically is better with Acura.

Pretty much what I got out of the video is that they Acura is the better handling car, and the G70 has the edge, a good edge in the acceleration. So if Acura pays any attention at all to what it's customers want, they would try to beef up their powertrain to match their competitors, and they would have a winner. As a longtime Toyota owner I think it’s pretty clear nowadays that unfortunately Japan and the big two have gotten too set in their ways. My thinking is that if the MDX can feel as small and sporty when driving it then the TLX should be amazing. Problem is that the backseat and trunk are a major step back from the Stinger. For a car that is that damn long (it is not a small vehicle) it has to have a semi-usable backseat.

Absolutely love my ‘21 G70 3.3 HTRAC. Compared to my previous car, a ‘19 TLX A Spec SH-AWD (glorified Honda Accord), it’s night and day in performance and handling. The manager at my local Acura dealer wouldn’t let me drive Type S more than normal loop with salesman in car. Didn’t appreciate that given I’ve always owned Honda products, including my jet ski. Went to Genesis and nearly got the ‘22 Launch Edition G70 in matte white with red interior. Figured go with the ‘21 since it’s the same drivetrain.
Yeah, went with my cousin to car shop and stop by an Acura dealership. Asked to test drive a Type S and they said only if we put a deposit down. My stupid of a cousin was so desperate he bought the car for $65k ($10k over mrsp) untested simply because it's an "TYPE S" he said. I told him with the attitude the sale man gave us and for the price he really should do himself a favor and do his due diligence to test drive other brands 1st but him being an Honda fanboy, bought the car anyway. I drove it after he bought it and it ain't nothing special. That Type S really does fool & sucker them fanboys into the buying the hype though.
Acura thinks they are above everyone else. I went to have an objective and fair look at the Type-S and they talked to me like the car was a McLaren 720s. It was just SO special, this 4 door sedan and of course they had just this ONE left and I better jump on it right now. Get real. Such a major turn off. Genesis was amazing with how they delt with me. @@porfiriato84Gaudy, for people with bad taste. Like you.
Pretty much what I got out of the video is that they Acura is the better handling car, and the G70 has the edge, a good edge in the acceleration. So if Acura pays any attention at all to what it's customers want, they would try to beef up their powertrain to match their competitors, and they would have a winner. That 3.3 liters vs the 3.0 liters seems to give the G70 the edge it needed.
