I’ve been a Samsung customer most of my life. I recently purchased an iphone13 pro max. I compared it to a friends s22. There’s no way in hell you can compare. S22 camera quality is a slap to iPhones face. It’s way better on the edges in pictures. Only reason I switched to iPhone was for the battery life, the flat screen and the ruggedness of the phone. Which I am pleased with.
It turns out that taking portrait shots with the 4x telephoto sensor is actually much better than portrait mode on the Pixel 6 Pro, because of the natural bokeh that it produces.
wish more reviewers would focus on which phone cameras are more color accurate to real life per shot, and not just say it's about preference all of the time.
Good review. Id choose the Pixel, as i dont care that much about portrait photos, but i really care about a good quality photos. Love the stabilization on that Pixel, its gimball like. Love the HDR and zoom camera its so good that it almost rival with the 10x of the Samsung zoom camera. I had Samsung phones 10 years in a row, id like to try something different. You cant go wrong with either of these 3 phones. :)
Awesome comparison.. They all got their pros and cons.. I think if you take the best part of all 3phones and mix them together you have a perfect camera(phone) but it still stays personal preference how that will look like

I try s22ultra vs p 6 pro vs i phone 13 pro all have very good picture but s 22ultra,does a lot better in pc laptop and tv making so easier in presentation in meeting together with the s pen ! Wow plus all rouder
yesterday my brother bought s22U so i had the chance to compare my iphone 13pro max with his phone...s22u camera was better almost every time..as for selfies i can easily say s22u destoryed my 13promax for god sake. most of these videos use colored type selfie mode on s22 for some odd reasons but if you use natural mode for selfues on s22u you will feel ashamed as iphone user but hey as long as iphone has this incredible battery i'll stick to it.

Superb review! I was surprised to see Samsung trumpted ahead of iPhone this time, wow! I was glad I made the right decision to buy S22U in Australia. I wasn't too sure about Pixel due to buggy issues problem so I went for Samsung this time.
PIXEL PHONE USUALLY HAVE HAVE BUGS THEN FIX WITH 1 OR 2 UPDATES. OVER ALL IN MY OPINION, THEY ARE THE BEST ANDROID PHONE!!! BUY PIXEL 3 OR 4 AND TRY IT OUT, YOU'LL LEAVE SAMSUNG. I'VE USED SAMSUNG UNTIL NOTE 9 THEN PIXEL FROM THEN. BTW THERE IS NO BUGS NOW ITS ALL FIXED UP
The photos you took are alike in the content, a lot of blue skies, water and a lot of grey/white. Would have been cool if you compared more different photos, inside stores, flowers etc. I'm saying that simply because the flaws of some camera shots would be more obvious, aka preference. Cheers
Cast to my TV using my Pixel 6. If Google can fix the software then photos and video will be better. The hardware is there. Great review and I haven't really tested the camera but hopefully don't run into too many issues. Happy St Patrick's Day!

If I had to pick camera system definitely the iPhone because of 0 shutter lag when snapping photos and the much better video quality As well as “photographic styles” But I wish apple had at least 5x zoom😅
Pixel has had ZSL (Zero shutter lag) for nearing 5 years. I'm pretty sure Marc Levoy, their former chief photo engineer invented that for phones basically. Samsung's still suffer from this. Also the video quality isn't a wash like it used to be. 14:06 is an example where the pixel was clearly better

Will look better in most scenarios not to mention they basically invented what smartphone cameras are nowadays with their software. All other companies were dogshit before HDR+ showed them what to copy

Sigh I've settled for S22 Ultra features over autonomy was more important for me.. I fully agree about Pixel 6 Pro. 10:10 more noise but far better imagine, if it had smooth noise on the background the other phones would look crap, regardless practically I would go with pixel with this one the colours the white the face is so much sharper and brighter

Massive price difference between these phones. Prices in CAD for me; $1,789 for the S22 Ultra 256GB, $1,689 for the iPhone 13 Pro Max 256GB, and $1309 for the Pixel 6 Pro 256GB. My province has a 15% sales tax which means the S22 Ultra is ~36% more expensive than the Pixel 6 Pro.
I personally think the 13 Pro Max is still good in terms of video quality, and i have no regrets about it whatsoever! I also think that the battery life on this phone is incredibly good, it easily gets me through a day or two without an issue before charging

Disagree with you From what i got in your review the pixel 6 pro is better in hdr most of the time and nicer colors in videos It has some flaws and is not perfect at all especially in portrait mode but still i prefer it over the wormer iphone camera and the boosted color s22 ultra
The s22 ultra is exynos or snapdragon? Almost sure it's the exynos version because of the good dynamic range (which the snapdragon seems to lack a bit) but want to be sure.
In my opinion, Pixel is the worse. Three years ago, Gcam was the best. Now, Google software kept getting worse and worse. I bet pixel 4 can take better pictures than this
The bias was definitely noticeable. Your skin can't be as red as seen on these devices. Pixel kept you skin closer to whatever you recorded this video with in the recorded video. Some of you pixel photos weren't as good as what I seen from others text and with my personal usage as well.
I must have had a defective unit 😑. I returned my s22 ultra because 19 out of 20 my iPhone 13 mini took better shots. Samsung lacked dynamic range and had over sharpening. I used 40mp mode and when I cropped in the iPhone 13 mini had more details what??? Also, all moving subjects were blurry. Did you have any of these issues?

The portraits look vastly better if shot on 1x zoom than 2x like here.

In fact, all you have to do is lower the exposure slightly and this problem disappears.
