Hey Sam, great video! Just a comment: I have a 13 Pro, but I don't have that issue on changing lens while recording videos, for me, it swaps really quick from ultra wide to wide and then to telephoto.
I got the Pixel 6 Pro a couple of weeks back, partly because I asked myself if I could use that as a replacement for also lugging around a camera, as my faithful Canon was damaged after falling off a cliff. While I'm still weeping at the loss of any meaningful zoom - no more moon shots or extreme sunrise or sunset pics (damnit!!!) - the trade-off seems worth it, as the Pixel 6 Pro has been way better than even my Canon was at several types of photos. It's noticeably excelled with various types of shots that were more problematic on my beloved Canon, and while I'm not a fan of its oversaturation - most evident in overly blue skies and crazy green grass etc - it's been excellent with a ton of shots, and having the images just instantly to hand, ready to edit etc, has been great for my work flow. So, thanks, Google - the pros outweigh the cons here, and it's certainly more than capable for most non-professional photography, within the constraints of being a phone camera.
The comparison video is pretty cool and quite elaborated. But I still don't understand why does no one cares about the manual controls for photography that we get on Pixel phones or in general the Android phones which are not available on the iPhone. If learnt properly then the manually controlled shots can bring out some really amazing shots. I believe this deserves more importance than currently given.
I love it when reviews put a clear audio capture comparison in their videos. It's also clever that you used the RhinoShield ad portion for the audio comparison. Good job and thanks. 🙂

To everyone saying the pixel 6 clearly is better for video, that’s mainly because it’s more vibrant which can be changed on any phone. You can make the iPhone videos more vibrant. The iPhone has more detail in most cases and is better for post production
i dont think 13 Pro Max video quality look way better than 6Pro in daylight recording in fact there were both doing great imo. They both can take great quality videos in daylight. I can see the video quality of 6Pro has been improve so much this year. The same goes to potrait shots also. Both are pretty incredible but i prefer the vibrant colours and a slightly better HDR on the 6Pro. The one thing that i like on the 13 Pro Max and i think that it really crush the 6Pro is when capturing night time photos and videos.
I like the Pixel's photos a lot, just I feel that the HDR is a tad overly aggressive, brightening up shadow details too much. Makes the photos look overly processed and kinda fake. iPhone takes it to the opposite end. Hope it was something in between the two.
Between the two is older pixels basically. The HDR+ they need to calm down with the pixel 6 pro just because the sensor is huge and taking it way more light. They needed that aggressive HDR+ for the small sensor on their older phones
Great video Sam. On the lens transition on the iPhone, is it not because you were recording in 4k60? I think optical lens transitions are only possible in 4k30 on the iPhone.

I just want to put my perspective on any camera on a cell phone comparison, it's very subjective. 90% of consumers not professional photographers and they want to point the camera on a cell phone and get the good image or video. I'm not 100% sure what Google trying to do but it definitely trying to play for larger consumer base that just want to take a phone out point shoot and have a great result without switching to different cameras different angles different settings different anything. I do understand it might not be great for professionals and they can find the blemishes but for wider spectrum of consumers this is what they want they don't want to think about it they don't want to do anything about it to just want to take camera out and they have a result. Good or bad I still think video looks in some conditions better on the iPhone which I always said had a better video recording abilities but I have to give it to Google they caught up. And another point no matter how good pixel camera is or going to be people who have heavily invested in iPhone never going to switch, and I do not blame them if you are heavily invested in a certain ecosystem you should probably stay with it unless you think you paying too much for what you getting. Pixel 6 is a probably best bargain for a dollar or any other currency right now in the cell phone industry. Justifying $1,500 price tag on fully loaded iPhone it just ridiculous.
Anybody with eyes and not bias can see the pixel was better in video when you were claiming iPhone was so ahead. I compared in store. No the iPhone isn't ahead and falls behind in some areas
I think it's interesting that there is the same camera on the 13 mini but they limit the capabilities of it via a software block. I still think the 13 pro has the better camera out of these 2 though

Hi Sam, thank you for the review but here's a couple of things I think you overlooked... firstly dollar for dollar the value that the Pixel 6 brings is outstanding compared to the much more expensively priced iPhone. Secondly this is Google's first software pass with the new camera and sensor array, I suspect that future software updates will dial it in significantly which makes reviews like yours and others so important. Keep up the hard work, love the channel!
This has to be one of the most bias videos I have ever seen. I mean it is obviously clear that the pixel is better at night time photography yet he says some foolishness.
I hope Google will tweak a bit through software updates to take advantage from their bigger sensors. Maybe we'll need another comparison in a few months.
Please, when doing deep dives like this with lots of camera examples, can you please use a 60fps timeline instead of 24... It's so hard to watch all the juttering from the phone examples, and your 24fps studio footage will still look the same.
All the audio from the iPhone had a low hum that is really irritating, also the wind is really loud too. The Pixel audio was really much better, but I guess that's just from my ear which is prolly a bit old.
The Pixels Mics are definitely better in my opinion too. Have watched quite a few of these videos and I agree with you, the Mics on the iPhone, especially in windy conditions, are nowhere near as good as the pixels.
Great video Sam! Just a quick note, astrophotography does not work on the ultrawide lens on the Pixel 5, neither on the 4a5G. Dont know why Google does not allow that.
Yo when the sound source change, maybe you can put sound to indicate it because I found myself a little bit confused when concentrate to the sound and constantly reading iphone/pixel text changing.
Can you please review Galaxy S22 + and Iphone 13 pro . I am looking mainly for photo/video features but also for the usable features that would be used in day-to-day usage.
I tried out cinematic mode in a store yesterday and it was so bad I wouldn't use it for anything important shot. It interpreted the edge of the subject as the background, and the background blur is too uniform and fake. What i find unforgivable is that it is software feature instead of hardware so there's no reason it's not available for iphone 12s and earlier
Hmmm not sure why your 13 pros not switching lenses while shooting a video cause mines doing it without any hitch. Maybe try the latest few bug fix updates?
I'm sorry but are we even watching the same videos? In nearly all cases the Iphones videos are blowing out the highlights in a major way or showing a fuzzy mask over the top of the videos.
You should never make a project @24fps and import 30/60FPS videos for comparison. Look how it's stuttering. 24fps is terrible for LCD/OLED screens anyway. Always scale the 30 (30/60/120)
As someone who has been wanting to own a pixel device for the longest time. Watching this video only made me want it more. I just fcking hate how google doesn't cater the pixel devices to where I live.
One little thing I noticed is that he didn’t explain too many things and what they mean how they work compared to a lot of other RUclipsr and also one more thing is that he said the 13 pro has a 9x max zoom which is incorrect
Just 2 things i've seen done in other comparisons. Macro on the Pixel => use the telephoto, not that wide "action" kinda look, but super sharp image Inacurate Portrait edge detection on the Pixel => use the telephoto for a natural bokeh EDIT: a 3rd thing Sometimes not using nightsight on the Pixel looks more impressive in darker areas Don't always use the "extra" modes for it, try around and find what works best, just like when taking pictures at a unknown place.
Great comparison Sam - I think I will go with the Google Pixel Pro 👍 My husband also wants to get a new phone but has simple needs & a smaller budget. What do you recommend?
Hi Sam from the UK 🙂 I have the Pixel 6 Pro, upgraded from 12 Pro Max. I've noticed the following. 1. On mine the always on display, shows as for example, 03:45 even when it's PM, yet the clock in settings show it's on PM, so I don't like that. 2. I put a so-called compatible with fingerprint glass screen protector on, and even with the extra sensitivity setting on, it still fails to unlock 9 times out of 10. 3. I then put a slide on and the fingerprint sensor works fine now, I re-set the fingerprint after I fitted the slide. 4. The indoor low light photos are not brilliant, I hope there will be an update to fix this. Other than that, I'm very pleased. 🙂👍🏻🇬🇧
Hi someone mentioned that try registering same finger more than one time and it work far better. Tbh I don’t own Pixel however someone mentioned this in another videos and three people benefited from it
Pixel 6 Pro doesn't use 4x telephoto camera in video. Pixel 6 pro keeps using digital zoom on the main camera instead of 4x optical lens, even in good light.
Is it just me or does he seem biased for iphone? I'm watching the videos and clearly the pixel has better color and images but he says iphones is better? Like most of the iPhone videos look very "greyscale" compared to the pixel
It's absolutely not just you. I'm reading all the comments and almost everyone feels the same, including me. I have eyes, I can literally see that the Pixel is better in almost every picture and video. Maybe part of it is that we are seeing the pictures and videos as "nonprofessionals," and maybe professional photographers can see that the iPhone is better in some ways?? (I don't know if he is a professional photographer.) But most people aren't professional photographers and what matters most is what average consumers prefer, which is the Pixel. The pictures and video are so much more vibrant.
dude, you need to disable the camera fixation in the settings, then the iPhone will let you switch them while recording a video. a strange solution, but it works
the fact that we compare 2 devices that have a half a thousand price difference, is enough for me to say who the winner is. value for money always wins.

How is iPhone an audio winner?
Holy god, the sound sounds horrible when videos are used with incamera mics.
Pixel for the win 🥇
Google seriously needs to fix that edge detection on portrait mode🤧
Pixel user.
Good content mate😀
Great video Sam! Just a quick note, astrophotography does not work on the ultrawide lens on the Pixel 5, neither on the 4a5G. Dont know why Google does not allow that.
Yo when the sound source change, maybe you can put sound to indicate it because I found myself a little bit confused when concentrate to the sound and constantly reading iphone/pixel text changing.
Congratulations for 300k.
Amazing review. Totally agree on everything.
Woah there Mario.. where's Luigi? 😂
Been waiting for yours
Google has Snapseed so...
chicken dinner
Can you please review Galaxy S22 + and Iphone 13 pro . I am looking mainly for photo/video features but also for the usable features that would be used in day-to-day usage.
I tried out cinematic mode in a store yesterday and it was so bad I wouldn't use it for anything important shot. It interpreted the edge of the subject as the background, and the background blur is too uniform and fake. What i find unforgivable is that it is software feature instead of hardware so there's no reason it's not available for iphone 12s and earlier
The video quality has improved so much omg!
Acctually used the sponsor inside the review
I hope they paid you well for that cause usually people just skip the sponoer segment
Excellent video man! 🔥
Hmmm not sure why your 13 pros not switching lenses while shooting a video cause mines doing it without any hitch. Maybe try the latest few bug fix updates?
daylight video actually looks better on pixel
Great review!
Always scale the 30 (30/60/120)
Pixel videos look so much better now. Especially selfie videos, Pixel wins hands down. It’s a shame the phone is so massive.
congratulations for your 300k subscribers
Great vid! Hope to see that same comparison for pixel 7 pro and iphone 14 pro
As someone who has been wanting to own a pixel device for the longest time. Watching this video only made me want it more. I just fcking hate how google doesn't cater the pixel devices to where I live.
Try the live photo in iPhone and choose Long Exposure. You should try that one or should know that already
I got the pixel and I love it❤️✨
Please can you help me to do my pixel 6 pro video portrait?
One little thing I noticed is that he didn’t explain too many things and what they mean how they work compared to a lot of other RUclipsr and also one more thing is that he said the 13 pro has a 9x max zoom which is incorrect
Just 2 things i've seen done in other comparisons.
Macro on the Pixel => use the telephoto, not that wide "action" kinda look, but super sharp image
Inacurate Portrait edge detection on the Pixel => use the telephoto for a natural bokeh
EDIT: a 3rd thing
Sometimes not using nightsight on the Pixel looks more impressive in darker areas
Don't always use the "extra" modes for it, try around and find what works best, just like when taking pictures at a unknown place.
Great comparison Sam - I think I will go with the Google Pixel Pro 👍
My husband also wants to get a new phone but has simple needs & a smaller budget.
What do you recommend?
Hi Janice! Perhaps the regular Pixel 6 could be the go instead?
@@sambeckman thanks Sam thinking even cheaper than that.
@@janicewatts6324 pixel 5a? Or 4a but it’s performance isn’t great
Please how can I do my video portrait
everyone has their Opinions about iphone is better or Pixel but the pixel is better
excellent video
iphone won't let you switch lenses when recording video in 4k. if you set full HD it will switch lenses
Lessss go 300k family now!!!
Straight to The Pixel ❤️
Hi Sam from the UK 🙂
I have the Pixel 6 Pro, upgraded from 12 Pro Max.
Tbh I don’t own Pixel however someone mentioned this in another videos and three people benefited from it
You can't go wrong with either phone . If you could combine the two you'd be onto a winner 🏆
Pixel 6 Pro doesn't use 4x telephoto camera in video. Pixel 6 pro keeps using digital zoom on the main camera instead of 4x optical lens, even in good light.
Planning to sell my p5 and upgrade to p6. Why does pixel 5 stabilization looks better than p6?;
Excellent camera comparison of the two phones.
The pixel is better..I am impressed 👌
Tried to compare portrait photo of iPhone 14promax to my pixel 6 pro, and the difference is huge, ez win for pixel.
How come i phone wins in Video section?
Is it just me or does he seem biased for iphone? I'm watching the videos and clearly the pixel has better color and images but he says iphones is better? Like most of the iPhone videos look very "greyscale" compared to the pixel
It's absolutely not just you. I'm reading all the comments and almost everyone feels the same, including me. I have eyes, I can literally see that the Pixel is better in almost every picture and video.
Maybe part of it is that we are seeing the pictures and videos as "nonprofessionals," and maybe professional photographers can see that the iPhone is better in some ways?? (I don't know if he is a professional photographer.)
But most people aren't professional photographers and what matters most is what average consumers prefer, which is the Pixel. The pictures and video are so much more vibrant.
wow wow, hold on, that case for the P6 looks amazing :)
Great comparison, btw :)
dude, you need to disable the camera fixation in the settings, then the iPhone will let you switch them while recording a video. a strange solution, but it works
I think ur wrong, audio quality on pixel 6 pro is 2x better than iphone 13 pro 😌
the fact that we compare 2 devices that have a half a thousand price difference, is enough for me to say who the winner is. value for money always wins.
Much love
Idk why but i clearly could feel the entire video leaned towards the iphone.
Because it's better, and for some reason most reviewers refuse to just flat out say the pixel is a boring, run of the mill android phone.
@@ILoveGrilledCheese now u are just a apple fanboy... You are literally trying to defend every comment with your apple fanboy shit. Pixel is one of the most innovative phones, own chip, hugely upgraded cameras. In fact I think that the iphone is the most boring, same design, the most standard iteration upgrade ever.
Pixel
New screen
Drastically new design
Drastically new chip
Drastically new cameras
Iphone
New screen
Basically same cameras
Slightly upgraded chip
How's the pixel the boring one?
@Sahil Singhal I never said that it was better, I said that it was drastically different as the original guy said was the same old android. Like it's not the same at all, this phone was one of the biggest overhauls on modern (2-3 years) phone history.
Ps. Tensor is ok in actual performance but that's not the selling point, tensor is incredibly smart in it's ai.
@Sahil Singhal you interpreted new as improved.
@Sahil Singhal how's screen better?
Pixel -> better resolution
Iphone -> brighter
Depends on which is more important to you aka preference.
I don't like any forms of portrait photography. I would prefer the background to be of dull color while the subject stands out but not a blurry background. It was a fair review between these two. I love the color grading on human subjects than the iPhone but I love the color grading on the iPhone for vegetations. In terms of managing the background highlights of photos the Google does that well while it blows out on the iPhone
Great!
