Just returned a DJI cam. No way will I install any app from outside the official app store. I could have installed it on an old phone but why should I buy trouble for my own self?

I love how nobody mentions that you pretty much need an iPhone or a Galaxy to even use the DJI Osmo....
I use my Osmo with a Redmi Note Pro 10 but I did have a OnePlus phone before that and it wasn't compatible. It is a shame it's not more widely compatible across devices.
bc it wasn't like that before! i surely remember downloading this app from the google play few years ago!!!!
@@sonyasever7625 That is because Google and DJI fell out and then DJI decided not to use the Play Store anymore. I put the statement from DJI somewhere in the comments here but you can find it online.
I can download the app but when i click on it i don't get package installer just a danger notification do i need to ok this for it to work... Im guessing 🤔
I think it depends on what version of Android you are using. Its not in the app store, so it will never be recommended to install it unfortunately. Its completely up to you whether you trust DJI enough to install it on your phone.

i kind of confused, bc i remember i downloaded it on my old samsung phone in 2020, now they deleted the app from the Google play? why? then delete it from the app store too!

Dji mobile 6 gimblae can use s23 ultra android phone ? Some people says ist cant work android phone so
I don't have a Samsung phone but some people in the comments mentioned they needed to disable a security setting to get it to work.

My issue is the installer. I get asked to install using package installer or Ronin app. When I install using the package installer it simply says after a while "app not installed" - click done... Any ideas chum, I have an S9
There are some devices that unfortunately are not compatible with this app. I can't see the S9 on this list support.dji.com/help/content?customId=en-us03400006738&spaceId=34&re=US&lang=en&documentType=artical&paperDocType=paper so it may be that it isn't supported unfortunately. I have had that in the past with other handsets, its a pain.

Hi, does the phone have to have a sim card in it please? I'm having to buy a 2nd hand phone that is compatible with the mimo app as my current phone isn't but works fine so am keeping that going but want to avoid even more expense if I can. Basically I just want to use the new phone without a sim to control and update the camera. Is this possible please?Thank you.
I *think Android phones just need an active WiFi connection and access to a Google Play account so you can download the app through the Play Store.
@@stevelitton Ok, thank you for replying. I don't think dji have their apps on Google play anymore so have to get them from the dji company website. I just wasn't sure if a telephone number was required to activate the camera and obtain subsequent updates. Thank you again.
@@BlueViking70 Ha, sorry you are right, that was the whole point in the video 🤦♂️ I don't remember needing a phone number during setup, I think it was just email and password for DJI login.

@@BankonJovan That's odd, it may be the way Samsung phones handle the download, I'm not 100% sure one that as I don't have one. So it just never fully downloads the APK file?

Dji are a bit of a joke. Could use the action cam straight out of the box last year, then went to use the camera months later and get told to use the app, which I tried but kept crashing. Thank God for RUclips content creators cause they're customer support is useless

@stevelitton I actually tried everything but it says it's not compatible with my Samsung A13. The App won't open. I thought I had it sorted from your tutorial cause it gave me the option to update, which I was never given before.
Ah thats annoying, I have no end of issues with the DJI apps for Android. I love their products but the Android versions of their apps are always really buggy.
@stevelitton Yeah mate. It wouldn't be an issue if we weren't forced to download apps to use their products. That's extremely poor on their behalf. All of us edited our footage on desktops before app were a thing. We can't even do that cause we can't use the camera. Thanks for your video though mate. Much appreciated!
Totally agree, if they are going to force you to use an app, at least make it work universally. Appreciate that it's hard to create both iOS and Android apps but Android users seem to get the raw end of it. No worries, hope you find a workaround.

So realised that I had to go to my settings >security privacy>auto blocker>turn it off.
Then it worked.

Bonjour sur Google pixel 4A5G l application ne s'ouvre pas à Android 14. Hello on Google pixel 4A5G app not opening in android 14
As far as I know the latest version isn't compatible with Android 14, hopefully a new version will be coming out soon 🤞
So, just to confirm, Google doesn't trust the DJI Mimo app and doesn't include it on the Play Store, implying it's not considered safe. By bypassing the Play Store to install it from an outside source, you're going against every safety setting on my phone blocking the app from installing via the APK file. Multiple warnings. This should raise alarm bells, right? It all sounds a bit underhanded to me.
It's not just the Mimo app. If you want to use DJI Fly, or the Ronin app, essentially anything from DJI you will need to install it this way. You make the decision on whether you want to use the product or not. I believe they are still all available on the iOS store.
Question: I have a Samsung Galaxy 23 Ultra, I keep getting link to windows when I try to open/install it, Do I need to link it?
Unfortunately I haven't tried the process with a Samsung device. I haven't seen that in the process on any of my devices.

The one you download from the website will be the latest version and sadly as it's not on the app store that is way you have to update it just by downloading and installing the new version, not ideal I know.

I'm looking for a fresh install. Can't install from unknown sources. I followed directions to include unknown sources. It shows other apps not associated with DJI.
I'm not 100% sure what you mean when you say that. So you have downloaded the file and it is not allowing you to launch the apk?

@@richardwalter3499 Oh hang on, I just read in the previous comment you are using the original Osmo Pocket, I'm not 100% that unit has Bluetooth or WiFi built in, it may require the wireless adapter that is sold separately.
@@stevelitton I do have the wireless adapter. I put the adapter on and I made the wireless connection. I will play with it and become more familiar with the camera. After I purchased the camera when it first came out I was not able to take the time to use it and learn how to operate it. Now years later it is outdated but still works. Thank you for all of your help. It is good to know there are still good people out there willing to help people like me. I wish you the best. I had been connecting the osmo to my phone using the adapter when trying to make the connection between the two.
Hi Steven, At the 6:30 minute mark, you've already installed app and mounted phone. When do you turn on phones bluetooth and pair with the gimbal? That's in advance, Jim
I didn't really go into that as I was coming at it from not being able to upgrade the app. So I already had that part set up. I can step back and do it though if it would be beneficial to people watching the video.
Thanks for the reply Steve. The issue of how to connect the gimbal to the app has me stumped. I've watched A LOT of "how to set up your osmo mobile 3" videos and everyone leaves that part out.

Hi, Its all a bit strange, so its not just this app, there are quite a few DJI apps that are not available through the Play Store (Ronin/Fly etc). They just say this
"We apologize for the inconvenience. Because the compatibility strategy between the DJI App and Google Play Store is changing, you currently cannot finish downloading and updating using Google Play. Thank you for your understanding. Do not be concerned. To ensure your usage, we have launched a DJI official download channel. You can visit the DJI official website to download and install the latest app and obtain the complete updates in the app."
I honestly don't know the specifics of why they are not on there. You can use the gimbal without the app you will just lose the use on the physical controls on the device that link to the phone like the record but and the zoom.

Seems to work as it did when it was in the app store. Nothing massive has changed from the old version to the new so far as I can tell. If they are harvesting data or something dodgy then I am screwed anyway because I use 4 of their apps 😂

@@yugiringus No worries. Like I say, I don't know any more than the next person but they are a big global brand so if something is off then you would hope they are being held to account for that. They cover a lot of different areas of technology and the drones for example likely do need much more stringent monitoring on their part in case something were to happen and data needed to be supplied to the relevant parties.

Hi, yes you can use it without the app just as a gimbal but the buttons on the Osmo will not be usable. Alternatively, you can use the Filmic app to connect to the gimbal to use the controls on it. Hope that helps.

I have tried to download the dji mimo app,I clicked on the download but it comes on my screen " download pending" then just doesnt do anything...Help please.I have samsung s20 plus phone.
So it doesn't download to your downloads folder? Maybe try connecting to WiFi if you are trying to do it over mobile data. It might be that your phone is set to not download over mobile data.

If that is on Samsung, others have mentioned that there is a security setting you need to change. It's in the comments here somewhere.

are you sure the apps are not on the app store for security reasons?
The official line was "Because the compatibility strategy between the DJI App and Google Play Store is changing" so make of that what you will. I personally don't know the ins and outs of it, I'm just offering a solution.
My issue is that I Uninstalled it and now it won't re-install
It's possible that the new version isn't compatible with your handset/tablet

I honestly have no idea. DJI is a global company, with a responsibility to its customer-base so you would hope not.

Sorry to hear that, unfortunately they don't support all handset makes and models which is a real pain. I have experienced that first hand with a couple of phones I owned previously.

You stumble do much😢 aaa, aaa. You get out of capture and no one knows what are you doing. In the start you are just delaying to come to point. I would suggest to make it short, be prepared to fly with sequence and always remain in focus, you may not be so close to camera. Have a good day. I gave you my personal experience 😢
Sorry you didn't find it useful. When I start the tutorial at 1:50 the focus shouldn't matter as there is a screen recording overlaid. Before that I am just trying to give context for different situations and skill levels. You are right though, I should have just switched in to manual focus for this one, thanks for the feedback 👍
