Bring back drift days there. They were the best in the country
We wouldnt have to use public roads then, or the pothole that is santapod
I Miss the rockie outer paddock 😕 great memories
Sadly this was complete fakery publicity stunt, They painted a single grand stand with an advert, that isn't open for use due to subsidence... the track is still owned by a vehicle storage company.
I'd love to see Rockingham back on the BTCC calendar. Doubt it will happen. But would be hugely popular if it did
Ijuuuuuuk
@@lisanewnham2089 come again?
Never going to happen, a car will never hit this track at speed again since this video was faked for publicity, they painted a single grandstand that can't be used as grandstands because of unstable ground in order to advertise a product, what a fucking scam. Rockingham is still sadly a storage facility for vehicles
Indycar could use the oval again because they do want European races, it's unlikely as this was one of those one-off's
Hell, get EuroNASCAR on the oval! Or bring Indycar over, idk about the logistics but it would be cool if they did a double header on the oval and road course.
Please make it available for trackday use I've always wanted to drive around this track. Also good luck with the development 👍 hopefully it comes back to the BTCC package too
Sadly this was a completely fabricated publicity stunt, they painted grand stands that aren't open for use due to subsidence... the track is still owned by a car storage company and it will not be used as a raceway any time soon
@@i-_-am-_-g1467 Your information is incorrect about the subsidence issue, as I have spoken in detail about it from its previous staff.
I was lucky enough to be one of 10 people to win Rockinghams 10th birthday celebration.we had a great day on the track and the skid pans, I had Stefan Hodgetts as my instructor instructor and for the day, we played with the race ready Mini Coopers, the Alfa Giulietta with all the stability, the ABS and traction control all turned off, we ran a genuine Australian V8 supercar. Damnably good day indeed. And finally who ever was the best driver at the end of the day got a cliocup drive for the Rockingham round of the BTCC
@@clunge8462 that sounds amazing!
@@clunge8462 Excuse me whilst I pick up my lower jaw off the floor.
Brings back nice memories of many visits here. Really wish it would open again. Looking good guys👍
They painted a single grand stand with an advert, that isn't open for use due to subsidence... the track is still owned by a vehicle storage company.
Is Rockingham really coming back to life? I got great memories of spending days watching races
I'd like to see Rockingham back but this time in the IndyCar Series.
Since cinch have "refurbished" the track, I imagine it can't have fallen too far from the appropriate grade needed for it to be a able to hold race meetings? I know so many of us would absolutely love to see racing round there again!
But they haven't refurbished anything, they painted a single grand stand with their advert for this specific video and the track has sat empty, still owned by the vehicle storage company that has owned it since the 2018 closure
The poor construction used to build the stands was one of the main issues and the cost to fix it.
Please Cinch, please allow drift days to return!
Good on you guys at Cinch. This is a great British circuit and only oval in the UK. It's a travesty it had been ignored by the racing establishment for so long. Great work Cinch. Don't drop the ball on this and get it back into full-time use in major UK and international racing series.
Ah, such fond memories, used to work there two decades ago!! Riding the tight track was a joy, great while it lasted
Is it going to be open for trackdays, for the general public?
Hear hear
Neither, it's open to store any vehicles you want at though. This filthy company lied to us all for publicity, painted their advert on a grandstand that can't be used due to ground subsidence and then told us all the rock is back. It's sadly still owned by a vehicle storeage company
Does this mean trackdays are going to be going ahead soon?
Bring back everything there. Great spectator track , like watching a giant scalextric from the grandstand. Brilliant place
Who's running track days there and when, then?
I would so love to see BTCC and club racing back... I got my race licence to race at Rockingham and it closed before I got a chance... hopefully I will get a chance!
Really hope they bring track days back here I never got the chance to skid here :(
Given the car only used the inner track, not the sections of oval used for racing as part of the infield circuit, I presume the oval is not usable at present?
Need re surfacin
I was absolutely gutted when we lost Rockingham, all it needed was to reduce its scope and advertise better, you would never know anything was going on unless you lived extremely local !! I have raced there, and spectated there for the BTCC< both experiences were awesome honestly.
Rockingham was an outstanding facility as a driver, rider and spectator. OK the stands were a disaster but that aside everything we about the place was the best in Britain. You can see every part of the circuit as a spectator. You can even say that about Mallory Park (nowt against Mallory its a great place. As a racing driver the track was great fun and allowed very close racing, as a rider on bikes again it offered great challenges at high and low speed. It was a crime it was allowed to close. Sincerely hope this. Means we get. To. Ride again 🤞
Back in the 70s and 80s , they had open track and you could drive the tri oval. We're supposed to only go 55 mph but that rarely happened. I drove several muscle cars around it. I grew up by the Rock and we always went to both drag and circle track races. Cool times back then.👍👍🏁🏁
I used to go rocking and watch the pickup trucks btcc and the stock cars round the oval I loved rockingham its amazing track please bring it back to what rockingham should be an amazing race track
Please allow me to show you some incredible driving on the oval, the likes of which you will have never seen, your viewers would be amazed!
You gonna beat that record from 2001? THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!
Would be amazing if you re opened it for track days
I can see the track from where i work, watched the stands get the cinch logos but had not realised they had bought it and re instated the track. The story goes that the stands never got used because they were sinking and had been sold on - general rumours in Corby.... It had been used for vehicle hard standing for a while but intrigued as to what they will now do with it.....
I was there for the only Cart race in 2001. Organisers couldn’t dry track after the rain and the race was delayed.
Cinch, if you reopen this track for racing/testing and driving. Are you going to get the surveyors in to adjust the T1/T4 stands for insurance and get them open again to spectators? I knew the cost of levelling adjustments for insurance was around £100k when it was last done.
Track days please!!!
Before anyone gets too excited, bear in mind what Cinch do and the fact the circuit grounds were leased out for vehicle storage even when it was still operating...
I like all the people in the comments complaining and speculating. Its too early as of yet to see what they will actually do with the circuit and so what if they only use it as a test track for car reviews at least it wouldn’t be used as a giant car park and left to deteriorate if it became a test track.
Will you be allowing Trackday providers to use the track again? Loved riding Rockingham.
7 months on and still no news :(
Epic circuit in middle England 🏴
*OH HELL YEAH, THE UK ROCK IS BACK*
Come on open it back up to the public and get trackdays and racing there again
I'm so happy to see Rockingham has returned 😄. Great video guys :)
Us too! Thanks :)
@@cinch No problem 😄
This must be the cinch admin’s personal account, how could you possibly think it’s returned, they’ve driven a car around it at 30mph with the track closed off to the public. No racing, no track days, just mediocre promotion videos trying to fool you. What a return..
I’ve been emailing like crazy trying to get you to let me hold an event! Having no luck though and getting no response! Please help me 🙏🏻🤞🏼
Can we now rent the track for private testing ?
Cinch Cinch Cinch will we ever see the track up & running again ? Or is this video just to get peoples hopes up ? .
What in the frankencar is that?!
A former World Series by Renault race car! 🔥 We actually drove it, albeit in the wet, a few months later ruclips.net/video/RRvVWBvMavQ/видео.htmlsi=wxaTu4F8IwIebR6h
is there gonaa be racing or not ?...cut all the BS 😄
It's going to be used for used car storage, as it has been for ages
Get the car shows back here again
@2:02 I've crashed there 😅
So sad they closed the circuit shamefully used as a car storage facility what a waste what a joke
You've been using it as a massive car storage yard for years so males sense you own it now.
make some money from it and get lost of events going small ones that get real numbers of repeat customers. track days, bring what you own track days, club track days ie, rs owners, skyline owners,m3 owners only etc....type of event drift days. Santapod makes a killing doing it i go all the time as reasonable prices £20-£85 max
Please allow drift days again. They are missed by everyone beyond belief 😢
Is it actually going to be opened for public access? Spectating/racing/ track days etc? Or just few "behind closed doors" venues?
No, this was a publicity stunt for a product. Sadly. They painted a single grand stand with an advert, that aren't open for use due to subsidence... the track is still owned by a vehicle storage company.
Yeah I knew it was false advertisement 👀🙄 2grandstands have cinch banner and marshal posts are painted purple but, track is still shut for events and public, just internal use...which is shame
Much better! Bring the place alive again! Days of Thunder weekends were so much fun and affordable!
Funny how they don’t reply to these sort of comments!
@@CJ-zi9fg I'd be happy with Pickup Trucks racing making a return!
@@bunkermonkey_uk The pick ups need a much bigger grid of 30 or so on track, I remember the last races of the trucks and the Ascars and those were down to 10 or less on the grids.
@@clunge8462 Yeah they really need to push that series a lot more and I believe the draft racing was popular with the drivers. I have just told them about the track being on Live For Speed.
@@bunkermonkey_uk any positive noise from the public is always a good thing, sometimes it can seem pointless, but it is well worth doing
We live over at Peterborough so Rockingham was a short drive from home and we’d love to see it open again for racing! Seen all sorts there, including bike TT races which my son participated in and really enjoyed it as it a 10 mile sprint on a smooth closed venue with no dangers!
Please open it again fully we loved it 🙏🏻
Amazing circuit! Let's hope it's actually 'Back' 🤞🏻🏁
Sadly we have all succumb to advertising nonsense, it's a lie.
They painted a single grand stand with an advert, that isn't open for use due to subsidence... the track is still owned by a vehicle storage company.
@@i-_-am-_-g1467 Sad times if that's the case 😔
Please please bike track days again miss this place
NASCAR should host a race there in the UK and call the event "JD Sports 500" and make Richard Hammond as the Grand Marshal of the race.
Bring racing back too it'd be a nice lil earner I reckon ;)
Sadly not, the racing was never an earner in all the years it was open. The money was made entirely from non race activities.
@@jdpower2660 That was only because the owners had no vision whatsoever. This place can hold all the international events that Silverstone keeps palming off for F1 and much more, IF it goes about its business in the correct way. Give it se headline events and it'll survive how it should have all those years ago. Plus they'll still be using it to flog crap cars which they weren't doing before
Oh damn, is Rockingham being used again? Used to work here managing the sites IT infrastructure, was a lovely venue.
Well this aged well......
Bring back Btcc , BSB and fifth gear . Great place to watch racing
You guys just made my 2022! Thank you! Can you please talk to iRacing and them sorted out too?
We aim to please! Lots more where this came from :)
Please don’t do anymore of this, just open the goddamn track
They scanned the track years ago, just never got round to building it for us to use.
@@julianruston5902 Steve at iRacing blamed TOCA for the track not being made available BUT it is on Live For Speed.
I don’t think cart is or was our “premier oval series” I think that was nascar
We need a nascar cup race here the cinch 500 lol
Don't forget to share the news with this video, so people stop thinking this great venue is gone!
Don't worry, gonna post this up on Iracings forums!
Only when you confirm what form it's return takes. Putting your name on long since condemned stands, and letting a lone car drive around the track tells us nothing. Will racing events be held there again? Will there be track days, and track day taster sessions as there used to be? Or is it just to be used by companies and race teams for testing their cars?
As much as I'd love it to be back, I can't imagine we'll see free entry to the vintage car club days and unescorted walks around the pits and garages again.
It still is gone? You’re not allowing anyone to use it..
Believe it’s back when they’re public grip and drift days being organised there again.
Events track days will these be happening again?
Excellent work! If you'd like to do some promo stuff we can bring some genuine NASCAR cars on the oval. Be a great sight. Let me know!
Let’s have the BTCC back!!!
If Rockingham comes back I'll buy an indycar or stock car to run there. Never been more serious about anything.
Maaaan I live 5 minutes ago but only went once when I was younger! Would love to see it open to the public fit track days, have racing series again etc... good opportunity as I’m a race technician in training 🤣
Please open the track to events again, it was one of the few tracks with good access for disabled people :)
Please bring back racing and motorbike track days.
Please
Please let this mean it’s coming back for race and drift events!
Nascar need to do a race hear the cinch 500
Hope they don’t let it go to waste, they have the backing and reach to turn this into a fantastic opportunity that will not only save the racetrack but further promote their brand if they do it right.
They had their chance and blew it...
Bring back drift days
I used to work there
Can see the point of the oval but having raced on the infield circuit I found it to have no flow and for a modern track quite unsafe.
I do agree I would change that bit of the track and make the infield circuit with the part-oval clockwise, not anti-clockwise, more like Indy.
What went wrong with Rockingham then? I remember it was a massive investment at the time so why did it fall into misuse?🤔
It didn't make enough profit quick enough and so it was sold off to a car storage business in 2018 and again in 2021.
