Colleges and Universities are scams. I went directly after HS, but dropped out. Then I decided to finish (at 31) what I started , and went fulltime in-person (not online).....this decision allowed me to land an awesome job. The ONLY reason I Ianded an awesome job was because of my years of experience...my degree was just a requirement for folks to even acknowledge my resumé (not factoring in a medical doc or lawyer, etc...) By the time kids graduate, after 4 years, the field they studied is either obsolete or requires another few years of school. The other issues: the student has ZERO experience, and they enter the real world with thousands of dollars in debt.

@ben pointer What does paid housing have to do with education? Even if they’re provided with a bed tonight, moving is stressful. And it’s going to be difficult for the students to “take” their education when they have to worry about where they’re going to live.
Makes me happy I graduated last semester and got a chance to enjoy living in the dorms and on campus before the pandemic. Should’ve appreciated the good times while they lasted.
That’s why my black daughter is at the University of Alabama! These HBCU schools have a history of disorganization and want to charge double the price for a private school education and give them ghetto living conditions. No ma’am and Roll Tide! Free education over here in a beautiful lakefront private room dorm that was clean and ready!
@@lindafreeplayqueen, we’ve had no issues with racism at UA but thanks for your concerns. We’re from Huntsville Alabama and UA was one of her top choices because they offered the best scholarships in Alabama. She applied to an HBCU too. They wouldn’t take her 60 dual enrollment credits, they wouldn’t offer enough scholarship money for what a honor student deserves and they were very disorganized with info. Also, the living conditions looked like a filthy jail house. I was not paying private school prices for poor living conditions and debt. I was not going to set my daughter up for failure either with HBCU’s sending their best honor students out to tackle a harsh world with lots of debt in hand when mine can have a free education at UA. When we know better we do better. If you check out UA you’ll be pleasantly surprised with what you’ll see and not with what you’ve heard. Then when i looked at complaints from my school 80% were about how rude the faculty are. I expect more from a top 3 hbcu.. school
At least 75% of all students admitted to college today would not have qualified for admission 50 years ago. Most of that 75% either need remedial services or do not gradaute at all. THAT is the disservice.
By the look of those rooms that building will take months to properly renovate. They will attempt to do a quick fix in a run down building. Secondly, they are basically placing freshman students off of Boulevard, which is still a high crime area of Atlanta. Not only are CAU administrators incompetent, but clearly careless in decision making.
Meanwhile, I have gotten criticized in the past for attending and graduating from a predominantly white Big Ten University. I never ever had to deal with such pandemonium. Such a sad way to start a collegiate year. Students are already dealing with the stressful and historic world COVID-19 pandemic and now this. Stay strong and safe young brothers and sisters! STUDY HARD!!!📚📚📚
Something similar happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I know beforehand that I (and other students) would be staying in a local hotel. I schedule my move in day and time becauthe school doesn't want everyone to come at the same time (because of the pandemic). I chose 9am and when I get there, I find out I'm in a completely different hotel and they couldn't move in until 1pm that because the hotel was still cleaning the rooms for the students. Needless to say, I freaked out and had a breakdown because the person who drove wasn't able to stay there with my stuff until 1pm and help move in. I thought I was just going to be stranded at the campus with all of this stuff and no one to take me to the hotel. I got my aunt on the phone and she eventually got everything fixed for me.
Hell no u pay to move in I move in where I paid for, period we deserve the same treatment as others when moving in period not like they didn’t have a move in day
I’m still trying to wrap my head regarding the comment, “I appreciate the man and everyone should appreciate him, but how do you appreciate what you can’t appreciate?” That statement is a brain tease for sure!
It's just sad to see HBCU's struggling like this. This is a great chance for kids to be a part of something special for their college experience. I know that the rappers and basketball players earn their money, and other philanthropist, but would it hurt to donate money to these struggling HBCU's. I mean if you have it to throw away or buy expensive drinks can it go towards contractors to rebuild the schools, get materials, etc? Hope the school year turns out great for these young people they deserve a chance 🙏🏽💪🏾!
I'm pretty sure all those students that showed up made sure the school had their money well in advance. Throwing more money at incompetent leadership doesn't solve anything, and it's not random celebrities' responsibility to prop up a school that can't even be bothered to tell these kids and their families that they couldn't get the renovations done. Also consider, looking at the conditions that were shown, that other students had to live in those conditions, all the while the school was getting their tuition, room, and board fees. Buildings don't get like that overnight, or over the summer--that's an ongoing situation. It really wouldn't have taken that much to send a blast email to everyone who was registered, but no, they wanted to take the money and leave people high and dry, because if the students and parents knew what lie ahead, they would have pulled out and the money would have left with them. Bunch of incompetent, lazy crooks.
@@EnlightenedOne432 I agree with you on that. Even if they receive money, it should go where it's suppose to. Everyone in position doesn't need a raise , some may while other leaders need to scale back. That's everywhere.

Speaking from experience: I was a parent of a student attending there many years ago. Her friend ( another student)at that time worked in a location on campus…… Let’s just say this……the conversations was ……about what was going on in some of the “ higher “ ups offices…..paying top dollar money for office furniture and using money/funds given for certain areas in other ways. My money and my child stopped going there…………..😡
That's common in most universities now. Remember the expensive desk fiasco a few year ago at a NJ university...I think it was Montclair. Universities have become a cash cow and top heavy for administrators while those who actually teach have stagnant salaries.
I just read the reviews on this place....I dont think I would feel safe leaving my freshman college student in a place where we definitely didn't have a vision for. The vision was to stay on campus. At this point first year should be free

This school has been doing stuff like this for years. 10 years ago my cousin found out right before she left to move from New York to Atlanta that they had given her room away to another student. She needed up staying in Ny and starting school a year late.
I can’t even find the words for these people who drove with excitement and anticipation to be greeted with that nonsense. CAU get it together...,this is embarrassing.
Atlanta is falling apart. As a facilities manager I know this is failure on many levels. Many people failed here. And don't parents and kids tour a school's dorms before you move in? The parents failed, too. I would pull my kid, get my money back and send them to a real school.

This why my boys took the trade route. One is a certified electrician and the other is still in school to become a carpenter.
Colleges and Universities are scams. I went directly after HS, but dropped out. Then I decided to finish (at 31) what I started , and went fulltime in-person (not online).....this decision allowed me to land an awesome job.
The ONLY reason I Ianded an awesome job was because of my years of experience...my degree was just a requirement for folks to even acknowledge my resumé (not factoring in a medical doc or lawyer, etc...)
By the time kids graduate, after 4 years, the field they studied is either obsolete or requires another few years of school. The other issues: the student has ZERO experience, and they enter the real world with thousands of dollars in debt.
U are on point
They took the trade route because Clark Atlanta didn't have their dormitories prepared for move in day?
@Cheeto Drip RUclips removed my first comment because I included links to verify all my points. Those stats you asked for, are all in your little Google search engine, and your uninformed cheeto dipping self, need to get well acquainted with that info.

@ben pointer What does paid housing have to do with education? Even if they’re provided with a bed tonight, moving is stressful. And it’s going to be difficult for the students to “take” their education when they have to worry about where they’re going to live.
The education is up to the professors, so no…. I do think there will be a divide there. Professors don’t have anything to do with dorms.

Free education over here in a beautiful lakefront private room dorm that was clean and ready!
I'm from Alabama and it's sad hearing you say that because they're known as a racist University. I hope her stay is great in every aspect.
I guarantee you the kids around the corner at GA Tech aren't dealing with this.... shameful

Doesn't matter how much money you throw at them when the leadership is incompetent.
