Few updates on the game so I hope it’s one’s kind to your save. The multiple HQs looks cool. Do you have issues with squad selection sensitivity? It seems to be very hot and miss for me.
Squad selection has always been a nuisance. They must change to allow me to drag a box around my units, or at the very least, give me a hotkey or UI button to "select all squads on screen" to select everyone that I can currently see.
@@CharliePryor They do allow you to assign control groups, so you should be able to select all squads and assign them a number? but I agree I played this for the first time yesterday and was instinctively trying to drag a box around the units.
Just checked this and you can set control groups for individual squads and another one for all squads.
Seems odd that one random radio call was enough to get people to restart building. Thanks again for the series!
When you are desperate for hope, and craving validation that you can leave your bunker for years... a new voice, on a radio, telling you to rebuild, is enough to get you going. :)
It makes... genre sense? IFZ is a sequel to a series of 911/first responder dispatch games - that ended in a zombie apocalypse unsurprisingly. It would almost be weird if a voice on the radio _didn't_ have worldchanging power in this universe.
I wonder how many people notice that the call happens on April 1st. Just some food for thought.

I found both this game and the channel through a random RUclips recommendation. Normally I think I'm really terrible at strategy/maintenance kind of games, but I've been loving this game. Thank you for covering it, hopefully this is THE playthrough. I personally find the beginning of survival games to always be the best part anyway!
Your channel just randomly popped into my list. I was cracking up when you mentioned Michigan and Grand Rapids. I went to school there 20 some years ago too (Kendall College). I’ve got family who live near where you’re building your base IRL. Too funny.

To be fair, you may want to get farming before anything else, since scavenging is nerfed in this difficulty.
There's a lot to scavenge though! It's the mid-game that'll destroy me though, as buildings that have anything in them get farther away

The trick is to click the fastest speed followed by slowest speed buttons with your mouse every few seconds. And don't use any hotkeys. That's forbidden.
Devs need to give you commissions on these games, Charlie. I broke down and bought the game last night. I'm just blown away at how the game takes actual maps and renders them into the game. Like you, I'm playing in my old hometown that I grew up in back in Maryland. Sadly, my old house was one of the rubble ones in the startup! LOL

I’m from Kalamazoo, watching now from Japan. What a small world. Great content, just discovered this game today.
The tower might have bugged out because it got damaged while it was being built. It is a common bug in other games where the damage prevents it from completing because the developer never took that scenario into account. So it stays at some percentage (max health - damage) instead of repairing and completing the build
I would recommend manually saving each night in game so that way if a bug happens you don’t have to worry about losing so much time
Woohoo on the new play-thru!!! Looking forward to watching the series! I did notice on my game the same bug with not fully completing a building. The best way I have found to fix this so far is to 0 out the workers and give it a few minutes so they have time to get back to HQ/houses. Then after a few minutes place them back on the building and they will bring the final resources to complete with them. Not the best to have to pay that close of attention but at least you know and can pay attention. And great finds on the vehicles!!!
Ive been world building for a home game of the walking dead. Live in wichita ks and none of the lore from the comic or show covers kansas or any of the Midwest really. Leaves it open for a lot of creative freedom. This game with the mapping and scavenging really helps flesh out the cities.

I encountered a similar situation like yours. But it wasn't a bug. Usually you have folks taking metal to another build site and it shows still in your HQ. You were missing 1 metal, and it was probably already spoken for. I typically wait for an excess of the material. It's why you'll often get "We're out of wood" or something - even when you are showing wood in your stock.
I played the very early version of this game, Im glad it has progressed this far,cinematic,voice acting and a lot of improvements
Should've been careful with the antenna placement after the guy got stuck in the first play 😂

Hey @CharliePryor I've noticed out of the few hours i've played that when building sometimes they get hung up on missing 1 or 2 resources to finish a building if you unassign the workers and let them go back to the house or wharehouse then reassign them it should fix it because they will grab the supplies before going out to whatever you're building.
Absolutely love the concept of maps based on the real world. Everything after that is very underwelming... This game would be incredible if it had some serious budget
I bought it and it was was hard, You manage the hit and run tactic so well as well as clearing the horde infested building with minimal injuries.
Next time you go get a car at the other side of map remember you can split unite anywhere so you can 1 squad to bring back 1to4 car

So if you make a new or additional HQ building with a large footprint your headquarters (like that library for example for the size of it) , doesn't that mean it'll store a lot of people, it'll hold a lot of stuff, and it'll have a fantastic Field of Fire

Make sure to clear out buildings completely before changing them, you lost atleast 1 food from changing it into the research center, which could be crucial bc its very hard mode
Randomly came across your video and channel. Watched and you said oh it’s a game that you can start anywhere.. I was like cool I could start in my home town. You proceed to start in my home town down the road from where I lived lol! That was so wild!

Fun you chose Grand Rapids, I used to live there so am vaguely familiar with the area, though I lived in a very different area, forget what the area was called but it was Wealthy Street and near an intersection from hell where like six roads intersected at funky angles. Man I hated that intersection.
O'hey I was just in Wyoming the other day :') Just gotta get to downtown and shack up in a shop, all the side street potholes are so deep they will keep the zeds plenty far from your base! lol
If you give your squad a waypoint into the car before you send em back to HQ they will drive back. They might leave some stuff in the last building if it was too much for them to carry though. If you end the waypoints in the car they will clear out the building. Then you'd only have to send em back to base still.

Love the choice you made on the difficulty. as a 3rd charm run, i ear the exitement in your voice, as a viewer , it got my heart pumping as well. play the MOOD and youll crush this. if not your army buddy will save the day! ::))

i know this will sound odd but what puts me off this game abit is the fact how clean the map looks like there is no unique look to any map all buildings look the same and i would have loved to see random fires breakout
There are many things in the works in the roadmap. They are even adding land elevations. ;)

not sure if this is something the devs has patched out but there was a old idea/plan of creating a incomplete wall that would trick the zombies into funnel into a firing squad of towers.
I just got this game 2 days ago and already spent 8 hours playing it its so addictive
If you wanted to try Easy mode, do Flint. The infection period probably improved conditions.

I noticed when I was playing the game the whole bug of buildings being stuck around 95-98% ish. That’s with demolishing and building/adapting. The fix I found was that I had to essentially reload a save and that would cause them to finish it.
I hope no goofy bugs ruin this playthrough(I hope this isnt a foreshadow)

They love the of the water very slowly. Having ways of shooting into water is an excellent “kill zone” tactic, if the shape and environment allows it

I think you should take 1 full squad out and let them scavenge during nigths nearby with close support i've seen other guys do it and it works if theres infected or problem just run away and go to other location. It helps maximize those resource lost by the modifier.💯

I'm wondering if researching and building the medbay is gonna be important on high difficulty, looking at the number of hordes and the limited number of people you have.

Very hard has the advantage of a possibly short but exciting run. Losing is fun!
On resources, breaking down buildings is gtd goods and by choosing you can lean toward wood, brick or even metal.

Hey brother, the max button bugs out sometimes and the game doesn’t register the last worker. If you ever get stuck building again, try dropping all the workers and reassigning them to something different (gathering or squads), then switch them back, but use the “+” icon to fill up your workforce.

I know I’ll have to be very heavily reliant on squad scavenging, and this map has a lot of fuel spawned in, so I might as well get a bunch of cars!

I think I saw something at the bottom about your mouse clicks. Can you toggle your mouse click for when you adapt a building from partial to full? There was three green dots at the bottom of the screen when you clicked on a building.

Can you imagine how these kinds of games(rpgs, tactical, strategy, adventure, etc) will change when AI is fully integrated and you can give plain English commands and have regular conversations with the game?
I'm wanting it to go a step farther, and get to the point where the dynamic story and characters that appear are directly created by the AI engine that ultimately drives a different story and challenge for you every time, based on your decisions and past experiences (as well as based on a plethora of settings to tweak it to individual tastes). Every story would be different, and no two players would ever have the same game.

You keep putting the first in the squad with the assault rifle, they are the one that drives the car and so doesn't shoot

Now got the full game, silly bug stops guards occupying towers 😂. Probably going to be a while before it’s properly stable.
The Map downloads because having all the map data together with the generated Buildings would lead to Terrabytes of dead Data (Maps you will not ever use) on your computer.
I’ve seen the size of the downloaded maps. It’s not a large file. Terabytes of data on my hard drive would require me to load nearly 46,000,000 locations. That’s not it

if you start your headquarters in a big building you can get a larger max squads!
False. First HQ has a maximum size. Starting HQ in a large building wastes most of the building.
You can build a SECOND HQ as large as you want. Then you really get more max squads. -- Besides, when I only have 30 people, I don't need any more than 6 squad maximum anyways

Supposedly it’s better. This is the early access release (everything I did before this was before early access even). We’ll see!
39:45 when the dummies did damage to the antenna, do you think that is why your antenna wouldn't finish?? If you look closely, and it may just be a coincidence, your structure condition 4747/5000 is about 95% which capped your progress to 95% - is there a way to repair a building mid-build?? Just wondering
Unsure. Could be something for a dev to look at. Either way, solved it without any resource loss

Loading and unloading is mostly automatic in most situations. I agree that the "Return to HQ" button in the UI needs to be put back though

Yup! First Wok is my wife’s favorite place. We get food there every time we’re back in the area.
I started with 45 people max resources and less infected, but it didn't do me good lol, was surrounded by alot raiders, lost a group by a raider ambush that demanded all my food, so had to decline, so easy start isn't really easy.
