This game is fantastic. The developer releases a juicy update every week or so. They usually drop an entire race or skill with each update, along with a ton of bugfixes and QOL. The newest version has playable goblins, orcs, ursine, gnolls, and more. The mods are a little sparse right now but the dev has made a point of setting up a robust modding framework. There is currently settlement management in the works as well.
If only they'd drop some friggin character sprites or something to make it even remotely cool to play. Nice inventory, nice skills/build concepts, terrible visuals in the actual gameplay.
So I bought this and the first one because of you... but what's funnier is that I told my Lt. at work about this game cause he's into these too. He mentioned he saw someone playing Soulash 2 on RUclips and I was like "Ambiguous Amphibian?" And he was like "Yeeeaaahh" and then we just talked about your Kenshi videos. Keep up the solid work man, love your channel.
That's something I really hated in Dwarf Fortess, is the fact that civs/creatures can't ever leave a landmass that's like 1/2 500 tiles away from another & interact with the rest of the world, sea travel should be a thing man or at least underground travel between landmasses.
Flouro for 100 turn buff with 2 modifiers. Pyro for permanent torch vision. Leader for followers. Get a bone knife from a desert village and a clay flask from an elf village. Hatchet from easy camp encounter if you need it.
You mentioned a few times about the difficulty of sustaining food. The mechanic becomes pretty inconsequential after a little bit (unfortunately!) Which makes sense, of course, because it's a land abundant with forest, and very few settlements. Either way, you just need to be cooking your meat. Oddly enough, uncooked meat isn't the best. Find a campfire in a town to cook, or figure out how to make a fire yourself! Getting like a small stack of 40 (cooked) meat will keep you going for quite a while.
Very true. I downloaded the demo last night and played for a couple hours and I was struggling for food until I wiped out a fish man village and came back with 60 fish meat lmao. Also, tip for new players. Take the adventuring skill at the start, it allows you to start the game with a knife and water skin. Knife allows you to butcher corpses for meat and water skins let you carry 150 units of water each. Once you learn the game you'll know how to find that stuff on your own and can start with different skills, but until then it's crucial for survival.
Still like that really, needed it to do some digging on some of the main animals and people in my play and it was amazing. Example: My first playthrough and only playthrough we naturally went to war with the elves, because they were dicks... Although it probably didn't help I was using wooden barrels to try to trade LOL.. At any rate, we took initiative and attacked with 120 troops, I looked at the logs and their leader died in the beginning of the battle. It was looking good, until a certain elephant died that is... Then another elephant killed 12 - 15 dwarfs including my leader who had been decked out in artifacts and was a founding member. My whole playthrough then revolved around revenge on not only the elves but that specific elephant. Mirthsqueezed the braided. It took 20 years but finally all elven forts and towns near me fell, it nearly broke my people but we finally stopped the menace. Until I looked into the legends about mirthsqueezed.... The elephant that died was his newly wed wife. I was the bad guy all along...😢😮
It's funny, but I feel like this game updates so fast that he is playing several patches ago, based on one dropping yesterday, and him not even having the one with more races

Hey Amphibian, I don't know if you read these especially on VODs, but I just want to reassure you that the Kenshi/Kenshi-like content is always amazing. Not sure if they have fixed it since I last played, but pyromancy was the only attack skill that could get exp from destroying inanimate objects. I've had good luck with Protection and Axe for starting combat skills. Str and End go best with that.
