Great advice per usual. I'm guilty of getting ahead of myself both in design and execution and kind of giving up. It's push and pull. You want to get it done, but sometimes you have no idea exactly what you want to do. Getting to the silhouette in the first place is sometimes a huge step. Recently, I've been sketching parts by hand and then dropping it into blender as my own reference/image plane. The overall approach seems to be working to where I've already been through the design process trial and error with pencil and paper (and eraser). Once that has been realized and is stable visually, getting creative and adding those finer details is less accidental and more deliberate.

I would say, just pick a sci-fi game. And study their all models like Robots, their props and stuffs. And don't forget to forget everyday, because this is what will help you to level up your designs. "Study and Practice". Best of luck!
