- Hi Friends!
This is the second instalment of my Kiln Opening series where I take you with me for each collection that changes seasonally. Summer has finally arrived so I’ve been so excited to make lots of pottery inspired by the seaside and summer florals. Here I’m making, decorating, and glazing lots of mugs, vases, and cottages.
All these pieces are going live on my website at 3pm BST on Sunday 7th July - in case you had your eye on any of them!
You can join my mailing list for more info www.blankearth.co.uk/mailing-... or head straight to the shop when it's live: www.blankearth.co.uk/kiln-ope...
Happy Pottering!

Your test tube underglaze tray is literal genius! 😂🎉
Hehe! It's a total game changer - I used to get so frustrated with all the pots everywhere. The only thing is its a bit annoying to decant them all but once you've done it it saves lots of time :)
I like your triangle sponge. Genius!
So so handy!!
These pieces are absolutely beautiful!!! I love the way you organized your ug!! You are so creative!! I love all the different pieces!!!
Ah thank you so much for your kind words :) So glad you like the collection!

Yay!! Thank you for your kind words :)
Everything is so pretty 😊
Ah thank you so much :)
Everything looks amazing, always so creative. I would love the recipe for the pretty teal roof for the wax melt cottage, I believe it was weathered bronze?
Thank you!! Sure thing its this one: glazy.org/recipes/2381
very cool.. i made my mam a kurinuki cottage tealight/incense burner following one of your videos.. its been bisque fired and is looking canny.. i'm a novice and am plucking up courage to dive in and glaze it.. i have until christmas, this year.. i'm a bit of a coward i know heh :)
Ah that's amazing! I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful and I'm sure she is gonna love it! I know glazing is a bit scary hahaha but you just got to go for it and then pray!
Time stamp 20:20. Cosmos & Pie. What's the glaze combination. It's a lovely Green/Blue/Brown? Also what did you say you added to the slip to help texture? Thanks.
Hey I added a few drops of sodium silicate to the slip that allows you to add more dry clay so when you pipe it the clay says raised after it dries down, it all helps with cracking. Sorry I'm not 100% sure of the glaze you mean but if its the second incense cottage from the end with the barnacles, the roof is glazed in this one: glazy.org/recipes/56085 and the walls in this one: glazy.org/recipes/131996 Hope that helps! Thank you for watching :)
Love your work. The camera moved so much it was dizzying.
Thank you!! And so sorry about that I will try to be more smooth in future videos :)
love your work how much sodium silicate do you put in for slip trailing what is the recioe thanks
Hey I didn't measure it - I added a few drops at a time and mixed well, when it loosened I added more dry clay scraps until it was very thick then added more drops to loosen it, I repeated this process about 4 times to make the final slip. I hope that makes sense! Thank you x
