I use Spectrum exclusively on my Raku and you sounded a little disappointed on a couple results. I really dig your results but I can tell you why Nebula and Starry Night didn't develop as fully as possible. Your reduction chamber was WWAAYY too big for your pieces. For small forms like the cabins you really don't want a reduction vessel any larger than a shoebox. I completely understand why you went with a group reduction, and I'm not trying to throw shade either, I'm just offering advice from multiple frustration fueled refires of my own 😁. The smaller the vessel the better and Spectrum LOVES hardwood chips and glossy magazine pages. I sound really negative but I do love your results, especially Algae Bloom!!! I never get those metallic flashes that you achieved. Plus I've always shied away from Topaz, I use 886 Lapis, but I should have gone with Topaz. Yours is nicer than mine. This comment is way too long. Beautiful work! Congratulations 👏🎉 P.S. my experience with most crackles has been that thin application makes thin cracks and small islands but thick application makes icebergs with rivers in between
Wow that's so helpful thank you so much for sharing your experience :) This has come at the best time because I'm just going to do my first raku of the year this month. Will be going to the shop to find a smaller vessel and some hardwood chips! Really excited now. I'm getting started making this years Christmas decorations early hehe. Hope you have a fab week!! x
Really enjoyed watching your tour. I am about to set up a studio but a larger one for classes etc. I have the same wheel as you and ordered a diamond core tool grinding disc bat but mine didn’t fit the wheel for some reason and yours seems to look different. Did you have to make adjustments with your batt?
So glad you found it helpful and good luck for your new studio - how exciting! I had the same problem because of metric vs imperial measurements - they are very slight out. I bought a diamond core pad that is smaller and has sticky back plastic on the back so I could attach it to a wooden batt that fit my wheel. www.scarva.com/en/gb/DiamondCore-Tools-120-Grit-Diamond-Grinding-Disc/m-7783.aspx
So beautiful 🤩
Thank you!!
I loved watching this process! Thank you for sharing.
So glad!! Thank you so much for watching :)
So informative. I have learnt so much. Please can you tell me where you bought your grooved cutter wire from? Thanks so much! Jane :)
So glad you found it helpful :) The wire cutter is from mud tools - mudtools.com/collections/wire-tools/products/mudwire-curly-red
Time stamp 20:20. Cosmos & Pie. What's the glaze combination. It's a lovely Green/Blue/Brown? Also what did you say you added to the slip to help texture? Thanks.
Hey I added a few drops of sodium silicate to the slip that allows you to add more dry clay so when you pipe it the clay says raised after it dries down, it all helps with cracking. Sorry I'm not 100% sure of the glaze you mean but if its the second incense cottage from the end with the barnacles, the roof is glazed in this one: glazy.org/recipes/56085 and the walls in this one: glazy.org/recipes/131996 Hope that helps! Thank you for watching :)
Thank you so much! Your houses and flowers are beautiful 😍
Ah thank you for your kind words! So so appreciate your support :)
Hi, Thanks for the video, very informative! Can you tell me what batt system you have on your wheel. I have a Rhode wheel but haven't been able to find a system that will fit and the Rhode batts are not very nice. Thanks, Lynn
Hi Lynn sure - its from Hartley and noble - you can just give them the dimensions of your wheel and pins and they custom make everything which is fab - hartleyandnoble.co.uk Thank you for watching! xxx
Higgerty piggerty love it 💕 I think I’ll think that way ❤ so calming
I have wood blocks and I put corn starch on them or the do stick
@@shelleydoxtdator753 Such a great shout thank you for the tip will try that next time :)
Really nice - thank you 💕
Thank you for watching!! xx
love your work how much sodium silicate do you put in for slip trailing what is the recioe thanks
Hey I didn't measure it - I added a few drops at a time and mixed well, when it loosened I added more dry clay scraps until it was very thick then added more drops to loosen it, I repeated this process about 4 times to make the final slip. I hope that makes sense! Thank you x
Pretty! Love it ❤
Thank you!! xx
Class!
Yay thank you!!
So good!
Thank you for making this video! The tiles are gorgeous and I have subscribed.
I am 5 sec into the video, but I just have to comment! This is exactly what I was considering doing myself!! Looking forward to the video - this is the energy I aspire to reach
thank you so much, this helped me a lot to see what the results might be. you are super cute, and so the lil houses reflect your personality so well. best of luck and grazie ❤🙏🏼
So glad you found the video useful and thank you for your kind words!!! xxx
So cool
Thank you!
Hello, love your videos always a treat to see a new one of yours pop up ☺️ I was looking for videos about rhode and came across this one of yours, do you mind sharing what temp you fire to? I was hoping to get to cone 10 but it seams that rhode is not recommending that with the smaller ecotops Many thanks for your lovely pottery videos 🌹
Hi Charlotte thank you that's so lovely to hear :) We used to fire to cone 6 in this kiln and now we fire to cone 7 in our new skate on. I haven't fired that high before I'm afraid - I feel the ecotypes may struggle but that's just guess. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! Good luck with it and I hope you find one that works out :) xx
very cool.. i made my mam a kurinuki cottage tealight/incense burner following one of your videos.. its been bisque fired and is looking canny.. i'm a novice and am plucking up courage to dive in and glaze it.. i have until christmas, this year.. i'm a bit of a coward i know heh :)
Ah that's amazing! I'm glad you found the tutorial helpful and I'm sure she is gonna love it! I know glazing is a bit scary hahaha but you just got to go for it and then pray!
This was really helpful! Thanks for taking the time to do it 😊
Yay I'm so glad! Thank you for watching :)
These pieces are absolutely beautiful!!! I love the way you organized your ug!! You are so creative!! I love all the different pieces!!!
Ah thank you so much for your kind words :) So glad you like the collection!
Love your work. The camera moved so much it was dizzying.
Thank you!! And so sorry about that I will try to be more smooth in future videos :)
Everything is so pretty 😊
Ah thank you so much :)
Your test tube underglaze tray is literal genius! 😂🎉
Hehe! It's a total game changer - I used to get so frustrated with all the pots everywhere. The only thing is its a bit annoying to decant them all but once you've done it it saves lots of time :)
absolutely inspiring! thank you!
Yay!! Thank you for your kind words :)
Thanks for the video. You could pull the clay off the canvas and put it on the wooden tile and then cut it with the cutter. Just a thought I had.
Everything looks amazing, always so creative. I would love the recipe for the pretty teal roof for the wax melt cottage, I believe it was weathered bronze?
Thank you!! Sure thing its this one: glazy.org/recipes/2381
I like your triangle sponge. Genius!
So so handy!!
Oh my these are so beautiful. The final design looks so wonderful and unique. Congratulations!
Ah thank you so much!! xxx
What is the length of the loop tool you're using and who makes it? I've been cutting my kurinuki bottles lengthwise to carve them out because my loop tools are too short.
Hey this is just a normal loop tool you can get from pottery supply stores - I'm not 100% sure the make I'm afraid. So I cannot be more helpful! x
Quick question - do the glazes tend to run at all? I noticed you applied very close to the bottom of the little houses, which by the way are really cute 😊
These didn't run at all :) Thank you for your kind words! xxx
I love them!
Hi Cecilia Thank you I'm so glad x
They are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you and thank you for watching! x
How to use if you can’t turn the spinning cart. It‘s not a very good shape.

You plate is sooo cool. Wow
Ah thank you so much xxx
I loooove your videos ! They are so inspirational ! I was wondering if you would make a video of how you clean your pottery space and how you keep it "healthy" to work in (silica dust) ?
Thank you and I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos :) Yes that is something I've been thinking more and more about and really trying to keep on top of cleaning - we just had a massive clear out and took everything out of the studio to do a deep clean so everything is looking so great now. It would def make a great video xx
@@BlankEarthCeramics Wow good job !! You must feel so good in your pottery studio now 😀 Looking forward to seeing your futur videos, they are all so amazing !!! xx from Switzerland
