What stunning examples of precision engineering. These cars are truly beautiful.I dont understand how someone could think a honda or nissan has anything on these beauties.
WOW amazing cars! Im so glad that so many people are into old cars and keeping them in mint condition. I have loved cars my whole life because my Dad was always tinkering with his cars. He taught me alot and it served me well when I got my own car.
That 1939 Delahaye 165 has, without question, got to be THE most beautiful car I've ever seen. It's unbelievable how something so stunning could be designed and built in the 30's yet all we get nowadays is shit. If I had enough money I'd have a replica of this car built so I could just sit in it forever- or stare longingly at it. Absolutely glorious.
What an outstandingly beautiful museum of classic French Art Deco automobiles!! I hope to visit Oxnard,CA someday. I will keep this listing for my eventual visit. Wow! We do not see such creations on a daily basis.
Slant Six If you can get a RR for 150K and can afford it, money is no object when it come to owing something as special as one of these cars. Custom builders could replicate the classic body styles with modern technology for 200K and up.
I'd seen a website for a company that makes modern Auburn boattails for about $150k each. They were looking for someone to pay $500k for them to produce a reproduction Delahaye.
I think part of the charm and reverence is the state-of-the-then-art mechanics. For their time, a lot of those cars were very advanced with things like double OH cams, etc. And likewise the bodies... often with more exotic materials such as aluminum and, I believe, one of the examples shown was made from magnesium, and restored as such. Someone here will correct me...
Been restoring cars/trucks all of my life. All to be drivers incl MG B's, TRs, Spyders. Too bad couldn't keep them. Just saved their lives, one at a time after work and weekends. Working movie 'Wild Hogs' when one of my 49 Cadillac restorations finished in 1965, went by on a trailer, to be restored... again? Raised 3 sons around the 'junkers to drivers'. Two sons went into 'Collision' business for profit. They have 20 employees and 2 shops. So it worked out ok :>)
I live in Ventura....I really need to go there! There's also the Murphy Auto Museum across S. Oxnard Blvd./Hwy 1...I've been to neither...shame on me. For those who are wondering where they are, both are shown in this link: Mullin Automotive Museum, Emerson Avenue, Oxnard, CA
don't like, you can't like, there's no such word here..just love baby just love, man thnaks a millon for that video you shouldda been paid for taking the time to show this video...
Well I know where your coming from, and it's like all those massive country houses stuffed with fabulous treasures that we see in the Uk here, possibly built and created from ill gotten wealth. Thing is though, we---the plebs, can now go and see all this creative beauty that wouldn't have existed otherwise, so there is some advantage. It would be a dull world without sights like these.
Wonderful video. Thanks for turning me onto the Museum. I'm already checking on flights and where to stay. I'm definitely going to go check it out. Been on their website. What a spectacular place!
@ConejoValleyGuide The Bugatti Atlantic is the Blue Metallic car, the rear roadster with skirts front & rear is a Delahaye. I love the Tatra & two Viosins.
The bronze car at 1:37 is a Hispano Suiza....although the commentary says it's a Delahaye, he is actually referring to the Gunmetal Grey Coupe that came just before the Hispano Suiza.
I wonder how many of these cars were production vehicles and how many were styling exercises? In any case, there are some beautiful examples auto design and rolling art.
@X5ALTX I believe that is the 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic valued at $30 to $40 million. Was there temporarily when I filmed this. Pretty amazing to see.
I've never seen so many stunningly beautiful cars anywhere else. If some of these designs were internally modernized but otherwise authentically re-issued, their 21st Century manufacturers would not be able to keep up with customer demand. Comparison of these 80- and 90-year old masterpieces with present-day cars proves how very far indeed the entire auto industry has fallen.
Nethercutt www.conejovalleyguide.com/dosomethingblog/the-nethercutt-museum-in-sylmar.html and Petersen (new Hollywood Dream Machines exhibit coming 5/5/19 www.conejovalleyguide.com/plays-productions-exhibits/hollywood-dream-machines-vehicles-of-science-fiction-and-fantasy-at-petersen-automotive-museum-may-5-2019-to-march-15-2020 for sure. Also Murphy Auto Museum close to Mullin www.conejovalleyguide.com/dosomethingblog/murphy-auto-museum-oxnard.html
All I can say is WOW ! I simply refuse to believe with lightweight composite materials, aluminum engines, modern fuel injection, including alternative fuels that we can't see such magnificent art on the roads today. They would be both beautiful and fuel efficient, and demonstrate that design of anything should always include "art" not as an afterthought but integrated from the conception. That's the mentality these designers had. In this case the old adage "build it and they will come" is true.

+Fartblast Supercracker: " How come they made such beautiful stuff way back then? What happened?" Government intervention.
Walter Strong Oh please Walter? Government intervention ? Do you remember the gas crunch caused by OPEC in the seventies? Remember mile long gas lines? Plus, consumers changed their buying habits because the union jobs of the 40s, 50s,60s, all disappeared? That's because the auto giants, abandoned the country, the men, and women who made them rich. They moved their capital to China, and Japan. People started buying toyotas, and Mercedes. The Union employees didn't make those decisions, the suits made those decisions. The suits, and management made the decisions to design, and build the disgusting abominations of garbage in the seventies. The ( K ) Car, the (Rambler American) "pieces of crap". They have successfully destroyed unions in America, from 60% then to 7% today. The Germans have strong unions, and the best economy in Europe. Being an entrepreneur means coming up with an idea that works, and finding the means, and capital to make it happen. It was true in the thirties, and it's true today. Government isn't the problem, ignorance, and lack of imagination that go along with it, are the problem, and lack of drive. These cars don't exist because people want something different today. My talents lie elsewhere, or I would take up the cause to build these beauties myself. They sure were nice. The answers are usually more complex than we imagine Walter.
Those cars are beautiful, my favourite is definitely the Talbot Lago Teardrop. Does the museum, by any chance contain a Stout Scarab in it's collection?
Ettore Bugatti is born Italien and naturalized French citizen in 1909. Based his car manufacturer in France and work with French engineers for the most part od this life. Now Bugatti belongs to a German company.
The video was taken with a $100 Costco hand-held camera by someone not known for video taking skills haha. But the more recent vid mentioned in the description is a bit better and taken with a higher quality hand-held camera in high def.
Call me stupid (I really hope you don't) but I've lived in Ventura most of my life, I've been working in Oxnard up the street from this place for the past 8 years (drive by it fairly often) and I've never been there!
if the auto makers of yester day could see what cars have become, they woulld weap. all those old cars are truely wroks of art, hand crafted from bare medal and made to the customers exact specfication
Could you imagine one of those modifiers coming into this place thinking about how many large engines they can shove on top and nasty exhausts and pedal rims..oh I'd have a fit. There is a guilty pleasure seeing this, I don't want to, this clearly isn't anyone's Automobiles in this museum... they've all past away letting nice to horrible people breath over there precious most important works that define modern and criticize some of them like 5 star judges.
those comments that say we should build cars like this now they are precious but it would be ridiculous to build this now time marches on the time of these cars is long past hard to drive and maintain in there day very hard
So much fantastic cars, love it so much!!! ❤❤❤❤🌹🌹⭐✨Thank You very much for show Ing!! 🥀
The French sure did their own thing in the 1930's. Stunning cars.

Awesome classic dream cars...I have seen many of these cars before in concours shows and auctions.

Why won't car manufacturers build cars like these with modern technology?
These cars are works of art on wheels!
+Tulsatom Bob They would cost $300,000 each.

Safety regulations is why. When you have no regulations to adhere to, you can do anything you want.
we need more museums like this

I don't understand why anyone would be thumbs down on these beautiful precious works of rolling art
It isn't the cars...it's the lousy footage and narration :)
+ConejoValleyGuide okay your right on the poor narration
+ConejoValleyGuide yeah narration is pretty bad
Ok Ok, I admitted it lol. I get it. It sucked. But the cars are cool lol.
I have to see the 1939 Delahaye 165 in person one of these days. I've always thought it the most beautiful car on Earth.
my31and37 yes, it always was !!!!!
Wow, what wonderful cars. Which car is this between 1m: 22s and 1m: 27s? Excellent video, congratulations and like.
If you're talking about the red one right at 22s, that's the 1939 Delahaye Type 165 Cabriolet.
When french did the most beatiful cars in the world...
Been restoring cars/trucks all of my life. All to be drivers incl MG B's, TRs, Spyders. Too bad couldn't keep them. Just saved their lives, one at a time after work and weekends. Does anyone know which cars are these between 2m34s and 2m41s? They are beautiful. Giving like.
I believe that is a Voisin based on the hood ornament but don't have the details on it.
I love the Tatra & two Viosins.
that Bugatti beat the Isotta Fraschini I fabbed while at RM at Pebble in 03. . . . .it is truly a beautiful car. . . .
These cars make me goosebumps
What was the red car right at the start of the video?
The bronze car at 1:37 is a Hispano Suiza....although the commentary says it's a Delahaye, he is actually referring to the Gunmetal Grey Coupe that came just before the Hispano Suiza.
I wonder how many of these cars were production vehicles and how many were styling exercises? In any case, there are some beautiful examples auto design and rolling art.
Very beautiful cars!!!…
That's old timey, Leon !
Man this are some incredible beautiful cars :-O
@X5ALTX I believe that is the 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic valued at $30 to $40 million. Was there temporarily when I filmed this. Pretty amazing to see.
back when engineers and company makers were fond of art and craftsmanship than today's 0 to 60 oriented type!
Yes, you don't have much to say, except that most of those cars have been made in France. It was a long long time ago...
You are correct indeed. The red car I believe is a 1939 Delahaye T165.
what's that red car man t the beginning? tell us what they are
Found it. It's a DELAHAYE TYPE 165 ,1939

Uummmmm

thanks for the video!
I would guess that you have never been to the Nethercutt or Petersen museums? Not “around town” as you say, but within driving distance for sure!
Oh, c'mon. Do you really suggest that someone would pay 30 mil (let me count: one, two, three..) for a car?
Lol. You're not stupid, just busy like the rest of us! The museum is only open a few days a month also, making it more of a challenge.

You need to spend more time filming each car. As a viewer, I just get a split second view. Take your time.
I would love to have die-cast model A and T
OMG - WOW!!!
If the cars can talk, they can say this :
"Come on guy's, let's go... I want to take the road, and stop to stay on this fucking place !"
IF YOUR GOING TO SHOW THESE CARS, AT LEAST GIVE THE NAMES AND YEARS, OF THEM!
