Nikki Ryan looks like he’s six years old in this picture😂😂😂😂
I thought it was a parody at first
A young Jon Finch lol
Facts I was like nahh why Faber going against a kid lol tf
He isn't?
That thumbnail is wild
I don't give a shit what technique it is but him just scooting around on his ass is one of the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my life.
I get that for free at grannys' house with her poodle.
He’s got good skills. But yes, the butt scooting stuff is tough to watch
Pure BJJ is lame to watch.
Your comment suggests to me how little you know about this contest
Ya cause someone would just blast him in his fucking face game over.
You could tell Urijah wanted to go full MMA on him at certain points and punch him in the stomach/head too 😅
I wanted Him to.
@@icysurfer1I think he gut punched him back stage afterwards.
Too right
The event had to be delayed due to the birth of Nicky Ryan!
😂
butt scooting will forever be the variable that holds back peoples' receptiveness to the sport.
Try it if you ever get into a street fight! Just drag your ass across the ground like a damn dog…. What could possibly go wrong 😂😂
@@walnutkraken9430I agree that butt scooting is terrible, but this isn’t a street fight, it’s a sport. That’s like saying the Fosbury flop is rubbish for the high jump because you couldn’t use it to jump a fence running from the cops.
@@FFTuk High jumping didn't originate as a form of self defense - that's the difference.
@@praeceptor3303 you said it yourself ‘sport.’ Jumping high didn’t start as going backwards over a bar either, so that should be banned too. People adapt to the most efficient way to win that is within the ruleset. They wouldn’t do this in the street.
@@FFTuk I didn't mention the word sport, but I understand your argument. You believe they should do what is necessary to win under the rules of the sport, I believe they should change the rules. Both are reasonable positions I think.
From the cover of this vid, I straight up thought Urija's opponent was like a 12 year old (same height tho)
and his head is so small. Uriah's head is almost twice the size of nicky ryan's head.
Them slaps were close to putting Ryan's lights out😂😂
He wouldn't have tried Clownie like that

Ha...I clicked on this because I thought Uriah was going to fight an 8 year old or something...LOL
You know how you agree to do a light roll with that one white belt and the energy goes from 50%to infinity within 2 minutes? This match in the beginning reminds me of that.
Except faber is far from a white belt.
Pulling guard and that butt scoot bullshit always made me want to throw strikes when I grappled

Just from watching this, I can't help but compare this to a dog trying to itch its ass by dragging it across the carpet
What a great experience for the young fighter. I’m not sure if he’s ever experienced a much stronger aggressive opponent like this but his composure level at such a young age was impressive.
Sweet! I haven't seen a "new" Urijah fight in years! I also feel a lot better that he has put on some pounds and look more like our age group! He is still one of my favorite fighters.
Uriah Faber is one of the most underrated fighters out there. Dude has gone toe to toe with some stone cold killers.
He is even better coach
Hes not Underrrated, Hes just not Championship level
Super impressed by Faber! I know that most people will see this as boring but the fact that he didn't get tapped at 44 by Nicky Ryan says a lot.
Dude me too....I totally agree
Yep. YOU'RE RIGHT...LOL...some ridiculously boring " Fighting" right there. I can see the intense training and abilities involved...but it's NOT exciting
It was boring because Urijah Faber sucks at jiu jitsu. 0 attempt to pass the guard
@@NoobTrader-yc2td Wierd, he knew enough to not be finished and slap him in the face a shitload of times.
Not really Uriah has always been good but I understand where you’re coming from
IMO it’s clear that despite Ryan’s grappling skill, once strikes enter the equation he’d have no way of defending well.
If strikes were on the table what makes you assume he'd just be defending?
@@bishyeahbish3758if strikes were on the table Nicky would be outmatched.
@@bishyeahbish3758 don't even try to make it seem it'd be competitive. Nicky would be smashed the fuck up.
But there are no strikes. This isn't an MMA match. We all understand that Faber was a good MMA fighter. This is BJJ. And I'm pretty sure Nicky's brother beats him up well enough.
If the tennis match was a cricket match...c'mon br'ah...
This is something straight out of the Twilight Zone. Uriah Faber slap boxing a child in a grappling match, and BJJ commentators that know the difference between striking and clubbing.
it's the way the cookie crumbles, Urijah is doing a great job passing it on. My Korean instructor never gave us kids an out, either we endured it or we became weak and stopped training. It's nice to see Urijah working with the younger generation, much respect, I'm 55 and still role with the kids and love to teach them what mental hardness is. Allot of them have the skill but no mental toughness especially when pain gets thrown onto the mat. Urijah is obviously doing just that, he's not only trying to stay dangerous, but also teaching the young bucks how to stay focused in unfamiliar waters super respect to Urijah.
Roll with them
@@stephen8996 who cares! i think it was clear what he was saying
Exactly, I hope Nicky takes a huge lesson from this whether he decides to fight or not. That is a HUGE rub, being able to roll with such a legend and WIN. Had that been me, I would have dropped to my knees and bowed/thanks Faber for the opportunity. The attention and notoriety he will gain off of this is huge! But I'm a few generations older than Nicky, so who knows. The kid looks respectful enough, but Faber gave him a major rub here.
Faber brought the intensity! love it
Any sport that actively encourages a fighting style that consists of butt-scooting toward your opponent should be seriously rethought.
I train in judo and we shave a jujitsu club that shares our mats, they come try out judo classes just like some judokas try out bjj classes if they wants, they have about zero ability to take people down which is crazy since all they do is fight on the ground and most of the time all they do is try to pull guard, it’s one of if not the softest martial art I’ve ever seen, in judo we still do alot of ground work (Ne-Waza) and it’s more then enough to out wrestle most bjj dudes, they will give you top position all day long it’s awesome
UF the avoiding slap fighter. Embarrassing
This was basically the equivalent of combining BJJ and watching Paint dry!!!
Gotta give Uriah credit for his survival instinct at least. He did not want that FAFO moment. What a legend.
yeah nicky is too good but a bit of a unsportman like style of bjj
A legend lol
I give him credit for being a poor sportsman and a little bitch.
The dude looks like this at 44. The guy has such a crazy drive
What's a FAFO moment bro?
Dude has the babiest face ever I literally thought Uriah was doing a exhibition match with a young kid. 😂
this match went by so quick! crazy
time flies when you're watching action packed matches!
I thought Uriah was fighting a kid from the picture 😂 idk how old he is but he looks about ten years old in his picture 😅
can anyone explain to me why uriah doesn't just grab his ankle when he sits down like that and use it to stretch him out so he can get to side control. Never trained bjj but I love watching it and just don't know the reason why he doesn't ankle pick him when the whole time he's giving it to him instead it seems like he keeps putting himself into a no win situation. Please don't take this comment as a newbie thinking he knows better just playing out scenarios in my heads as I watched
I hear you but its not as easy as it seems. Especially with someone who likes to roll sitting on his ass like that. That guy is probably so used to people attempting to pass his guard, he's become expert at defending it. Not only that he has probably learned to counter that pass with that obnoxious ankle lock he tried 40,000 times.
Im just a white belt so take what I say with a grain of salt, but no gi is really hard to get grips in. Especially once you get sweaty.
It takes a special type of person to watch this.
Hell yeah, for the old guys 💪
Did Faber slap the shit out of him in the beginning?😂
It’s was an aggressive grip break … but yea hahahhahaha
I would say there was no winner without a submission. I know there are points but in reality it means nothing in a real fight.
I agree with you
You can't compare this to a real fight. Good call though.
by that reasoning there is no winner in any combat fight without at least a knockdown or knockout or tapout. FALSE.
@@salimoneus I said real fight. Do you not understand what that is? There are no refs in a real fight.
This isn't a 'real fight'.....
I am wondering if Scooting would work in the streets of Detroit where I live a few miles from..?

Well at least I now know how to defend myself from an aggressor shuffling down the street on his ass…😂
Pulling guard should be banned. It's just straight gay

@@SuperRadChad I've been in combat, I train to prepare for the chance a world war or civil unrest requires me to protect people. If you are a warrior training for war this butt shuffling is perceived as useless and cowardly. No man with integrity acts like this.
Faber must have trained with the Dagestani boys for this one LOL
why is that?
What was Ryan's attack mode please show me.
From the thumbnail of this video, it looked like Urijah was facing an elementary school student. 🤣
Oh now I get it. This was one of those, "who's the biggest puss," matches. At first I thought the judges made the wrong choice.
Nicky Ryan with the "dog across living room carpet" offense. BJJ guys seem to hate takedowns. 😁
Its kind of a product of the rule set. Nicky is not penalized for sitting to guard and he was going against a much stronger wrestler in Faber. So since he's not going to take Faber down and is likely to get taken down himself it just made strategic sense for him to sit to guard. So the rule set kinda makes it so you would only ever go for a takedown if you already know you have the better stand up.
Ryan looks like he’s just trying to give him a hug and Faber is like gtfo dude!
I don’t know much about pure bjj, what’s so dominant about the sit position? By the looks of it, maybe the options from that position are more than a standing or kneeling position? I’ve seen other bjj guys do the sit thing and I just don’t get it. If these went 2 or 3 rounds, the physicality of Fabre would have definitely tipped the scales.
When you are in someone's full or closed guard they can put you in submissions.
Think of the full mount then imagine it upside down, its the same position.
The butterfly guard Ryan was using gives you the opportunity to sweep them, which is flipping them over and getting on top. Notice when he picked Uriah up off the ground with his legs. He had a chance to flip him over.
“It’s hard to say but I wouldn’t want to be the one pissing off Ryan now” as dude slides on his butt and goes for heel hooks 😂 cmon now
Exactly! Just like Mikey Musumeci! All heel hooks 🫣
Bro when you feel punches to the face and kicks to the ribs you’re gonna get up
@TheDrizzydrakeYMCMB Absolutely!! But there is no punches or kicks in Jiu-jitsu
Uriah with the Wing chun skillz
uriah going with the proprietary shawcb shutdown, respect
Nicky looks so young, and yet so talented
Pulling guard is a disgrace
Its crazy how this sport has devolved to the point where the pinnacle technique is actually a huge liabilty and is impractical in real life self defense. Complete betrayal from the intention of the discipline and is gonna get your head bashed on some concrete in real life. They should ban this for the sports own self respect at this point.
You aren't wrong
In conclusion l: Wrestler doesnt want to do Jiu-Jitsu; Jiu-Jitzer doesnt want to wrestle.
The wrestler DID go to BJJ, because BJJ refuses to get embarrassed in wrestling.
Imagine your in a street fight and the dude just drops to his ass and starts scooting towards u😂😂😂
Kick to the face instantly lol
Yall just think its a joke cause Uriah has good defense. If you went against Ryan he would blow your knee out in 10 seconds

I guess I'm just a layperson when it comes to BJJ, but Uriah's strategy in this match doesn't seem any less risky than Nicky's.
It's about the thing he was paid to do. Uriah was paid to win not be safe. If you can't risk fighting, you shouldn't act like you can and sign a contract.
@@FentonMulley-cz8pv but doesn't the same thing go for butt scooting? It seems like Uriah's strategy might have been the best way for him to win.
@@moeknows5418 yes, if the but scoot is to avoid engagement. But we all know Uriah was is serious danger if he allowed Nicky to butt scoot into any guard position. The whole point was to test team alpha males basic effective bjj against the new style. Nicky was down to experiment with this while Uriah didn't want to test it. The juxtaposition of Uriah's aggressive slaps, alpha title, and non-engagements shows he was more interested in looking cool than testing himself honestly. That honest testing is what makes fighting so fun. It disrespects the whole point of the exercise he was paid for.
I have the fight pass signature and don’t know this event. Amazing!

If you play bottom and can’t sweep or submit- you were not the dominant player.

I'm glad I seen the guys message saying "just skip to 14:55". Sad thing is I actually needed some guidance from someone on here to end my misery of watching this. To each their own I reckon.
I’d love to see a rematch
I’m going to echo others on here and say that I don’t care how great they are, I can’t stand it when a BJJ player immediately flops to their ass. Shouldn’t it bear at least a passing resemblance to an actual martial art? And yes, I’ve trained BJJ before.
Not after Sakuraba destroyed a field of Gracies.
That butt sitting was shown for what it is.
That leg take was so fast at 420 to me anyways lol I'm sure there's better. I fuck with Faber's passion he made the bout fun to watch
How many times could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck chuck
To be fair, anyone that's every rolled with a butt scooter knows how annoying it is. Great strategy, especially for smaller, agile grapplers, but still very obnoxious style to watch and defend against.
I know people love this sport and I don't watch it so what I am about to say isn't like an expert OP or anything.
This just looks like a silly sport to me. If you had an opponent that just sat down on their but why wouldn't you just walk around the space? They would literally look like a dog wiping their ass on the carpet for 15 minutes. Its just silly.
Also, the entire match was Ryan trying to get ahold of Faber's legs for a lock when Faber's legs were back behind him. In the meantime Ryan's legs are out in front of him easily accessible to Faber. Couldn't Faber just grab his legs that are right there and put some kind of lock on?
🤷
Was that supose to be a fight
Uriah taught me The Push Technique will defeat all black belts.. haha
Urijah could have hammer fisted his face into smithereens at anytime. Perfect example of how BJJ has limited effectiveness against strong wrestlers with good ground and pound in an MMA setting.
Yea, guard pulling is like relying on the head an arm in folkstyle wrestling. Just cheesy. They should deduct points for lack of aggression or just generally being a guard pulling pussy
I know right? When I'm playing basketball and someone tries to drive past me I'm always like dude... I could just elbow him into oblivion right now. Just goes to show that basketball has limited effectiveness
