He’s short and stocky, I can’t imagine how tight his chokes can get. I hope he has a successful comeback fight, I’ve always loved watching him, all the way back to WEC
There's a really good saying of "when a wrestler/bjj practitioner starts standing and striking, one day they never stop" and here we have this effect lol
Theres an ego that makes you keep doing it cause you dont accept you arent that good at it, they already said he is coming back, so if he is in good shape and all he should definitely go for the ground game
Dude he had to strike because the division was full with good grapplers/wrestlers. You want him to shoot random doubles all night and risk getting into a guillotine chocke
My very first favorite UFC fighter was Randy Couture, then came the Iceman Chuck Liddell, and then I had Urijah Faber after that. Now, and ever since he won TUF 13 in 2011, it's my man Tony Ferguson. Tony the type of dude to be my favorite fighter for the longest time. But I'm certainly rooting for Faber to have a successful comeback and perhaps get another title shot.
Uriah has been one of my favorite fighters..To see him coming back is awesome, though I hope he still has that pizzazz that the younger Faber had. Always humble and respectful. Just an all around great athlete and guy. Best of luck to him in his comeback as there are alot of talented fighters nowadays.
WEC to early UFC Urijah was just so well rounded, I think he forgot what got him wins and got suckered into striking bouts way to often... but honestly he had great vision, foorwork, speed, power, and pushed the pace like a Tasmanian Devil I think he was ahead of his time for sure, so solid
That was a said time and then when that one chick wouldn't fight Shevchenko then pulled out the day of 15 pounds overweight like she didn't have no diet plan.
Uriah is one of them fighters I'd love to go out with a UFC belt, alongside Cerrone, Gustaffson, Sanchez, Henderson.. I was buzzing when Bisping won it, would love to see these win it but I think Cerrone Is the only one that has a chance or Gus if he retruns
@Kaiser de Emperana I didn't necessarily say he would, although he could with his skillset if he gets the right fight, but out of the list of names given, he'd most likely get a belt over the other names unless Gustaffson came back from retirement
Hopefully he starts utilizing his takedowns and submissions again! It’s what he’s best at as his specialty, and heck he managed to submit Cruz at some point.
Damn watching that Brian Bowles fight made me remember when Chase Bebe and Miguel Torres were savages in WEC when those divisions started to really be birthed and beefed up and Eddie Wineland was deep in the picture before Cruz and Faber and Aldo came along. Same time Roger Huerta was on SI cover and lighting the UfC on fire. Most of them no where to be found now I did see Wineland got a win in 238 Under card tho.
Ppl have short memory the guy was torched by Renan Barão and Rivera then he won against a flyweight he retired because he didnt have any chances on the top 10 and he knew that was pretty much his reality. Some time has past and ppl now think he can run back the division It Just doesnt make any Sense I like Faber and Im not the one to judge anybody however, he should be ok with his carrear already instead of trying to get burned out again I Just hope he doesnt get badly hurt due to his age and all that .
Man he laid the beat down on Bowles wow! Nothing better than rocking someone on the feet beating the shit out of them and then choking them out he covered all bases there. It’s like throwing someone in wrestling to their back to tech them as you pin them!
Faber’s grappling is insanely good. Possibly the best ever at 145 and 135. His wrestling is insanely good too, just not quite on the same level as his grappling when it actually hits the mat. Once it hits the mat, he just DOMINATES dudes. Good grapplers like Assuncao, Bibiano Fernandes, Jorgenson... he just daddies them once it hits the mat. He mat struggle a bit and scramble for that takedown, but once he gets it, he just mauls them. Bullies them with vicious GnP, controls them, and chokes the shit out of them.
How are his submissions over Jeff Curran and Raphael Assuncao not on here? He tapped both, who are both very high level black belts when he was just a purple belt
I love the McDonald fight. If i recall correctly he was a pretty big underdog in that fight and then he goes on to rock him and submit him in the first.
I think Faber might be in for a bad time... but I didn’t watch this sport back when he was around so idk how well he matches up with current talent. Doesn’t usually go well for older guys coming outta retirement
Urijah was so damn strong back then damn and he was so good hes gotten even more stiff now he was already a little to square when he fought now it's way way worse I wish he could make a comeback but doesnt look like it will happen he will be fighting again in a little while he has a fight set
Back when WEC was a thing, Urijah was always my favorite fighter. He will always grace my top 5.
Urijah is such a Great dude 👍
And look what happened to him when he fought Yan. Top 5? I don't think so...
@@AKilosOfRaPATonOfHonesty he was 40 and looked alright dumbass
@@lesnarbuiltthepyramids3788 😂 he got outclassed. Completely destroyed bruh. No matter if he was 40... Just look at Anderson Silva, Dumbass.

People forget what an old school badass Uriah Faber was and still is!
He’s short and stocky, I can’t imagine how tight his chokes can get. I hope he has a successful comeback fight, I’ve always loved watching him, all the way back to WEC
Yeah he was very good at wrestling. He's very similar to Chad Mendes
I still wana see him and tj
Uriah used to be a beast when he actually went for takedowns instead of trying to be a striker like (Cody, Tj, and his rival Dom)
There's a really good saying of "when a wrestler/bjj practitioner starts standing and striking, one day they never stop" and here we have this effect lol
He can strik

Uriah “50 year old retired skateboarder” Faber
Conor has the quotes, money and coke. But Uriah has the respect. Something much more valued in this sport.
Tony hawks brother
M.U.B.U 4L huh.. they’re close friends? It’s all banter
I don't get it. He's 40

Love how much ufc is pushing Urijah. He deserves it
Why not. Well the UFC is content King now. They know the deal. The have rights to it all. They just hire full time editors who comb thru material.
2:39 love how he takes his time there for that vicious elbow
I like how Uriah attacks a guy when he’s hurt. Killer instinct like a lion

He was at his very best in these 5 fights. Always liked watching him. A class act all around.
Love how he always releases his submissions immediately. Good sport
I was there live for his retirement fight and will be there live for his comeback fight 😀
That's one dedicated fan😁
Very cool! The California Kid always brings the heat! Uriah is a good guy as well.

Faber was such an animal of a featherweight back then. Mighty little beast.
I love when Joe says he’s got a wicked Darce choke
Mannn Uriah was a beast before the ufc.. Hes one of t h e greatest Champs ever
One of my favorite fighters, can’t wait to see the Cali Kid back at it! #LetsGoFaber
Last fight Fabre tried to lock up his arms so he couldn’t even tap. What a beast.
Hopefully he starts utilizing his takedowns and submissions again! It’s what he’s best at as his specialty, and heck he managed to submit Cruz at some point.
True but to be fair cruz was nowhere near as great as he would later become
That was 12 years ago tho
#5 Best swarm ever!! He didn't stand a chance of surviving that.
Uriah’s got this
Taking the risk Uriah by sub
Simon a blue belt
I eat horse meat on fight week 🤷🏽♂️ I’ll take the risk
I eat horse meat on fight week Welp. This Comment Didn’t Age Well
That submission at 4:30...breath taking! What a master
The overall pressure with which he pursued finishing the guy in #3 and #1 once he saw he had him was ridiculous 😱😱
I loved watching him in WEC
My favorite was his submission against rivera where he set rivera up with the eye poke then went into the bulldog choke.
Who else here was 15 watching Faber in the WEC wanting to me just like him growing up? Man, he was such a badass back in the day.
Every Faber fan hated seeing him lose to Dom and Mike Brown, but OG's know what he brought to this sport, and it is significant.
When im 7 yrs old i love urija faber style fighting
One of my favorite fighters
I finally have internet and this is the first video I'm watching 😁😁😁😁😁😁

Got all my fingers and toes crossed for Urijah at UFC Sacramento.🤞
We missed the presence of Urijah Faber in that Cage! Forever Crowd Favorite 💓
My alltime favorite 🤟🏽
He's a fcking beast!
He's got that crazy killer-instinct which kicks in immediately after the opponent struggles.
Uriah is one of the greats just a beast in that cage.
Beautiful submissions.
That Bowles finish was vicious
How awesome would it be if Urijah fought his way back to the title & finally won it!!!
LET'S GO CALIFORNIA KID 😀💪🥋

Pitbull Faber! Nasty! What a beast

Looking at this remind s me how young tha ufc really is . he would get washed if he came out in this era, but he inspired so many. 👍 Faber
This not submission but this is control.. Dominate
1st 4 fights looked like the opponents all just waited for the submission to sink in.

He looks so young. 6:17 "I want my apple juice now mommy!"
What sucks is he was I believe in his prime during his WEC days. Always a favorite fighter of mine.
Uriah on a good day was as exciting as anybody. He was just a little shorter than the others but that makes him even braver.
