- Natalie Portman’s courageous stance on Palestine is a reminder that even in the face of adversity, we must stand up for what is right. Inspired by the wisdom of Amos Oz, who said ‘The only way to defeat darkness is to make its darkness visible.’ Let’s shine a light on the struggles of the Palestinian people and work towards a more just and peaceful world for all. #NataliePortman #AmosOz #Palestine #Justice #Peace
She basically put the oppressor in the same position of the oppressed
This is the root cause of the problem
Whole lot of umming and arring. Just static.
What’s europes abuses got to do with doing Palestine dirty.
And what’s Europe doing you (Israelis) dirty got to do with taking it out on Palestinians.
Yes. Same abusive father. However one sibling grew up to emulate the father by being abusive to his sibling.
didn't grow up on their own israel was and still defended funded and backed fully by the UK and America if the money and the weapon flow stops the genocide will stop
arabs ARE the abusers from which europeans defended themself
Exactly
Great point, Natalie, except one child has stolen the land of the other child, and has killed or exiled most of that poor child's family!
You forgot to mention that Arabs never wanted anything to do with europe or their backward ways.
Read between the lines: Israel isn’t responsible for the genocide in Gaza, Europe is, says Israeli-born, Israeli citizen, Natalie Portman. How courageous: deflecting the blame for the genocidal actions of your homeland to a group of countries who are presently calling for an end to the genocide in Gaza.
They want "an end to the genocide in Gaza" so they can continue with their ongoing genocide in Israel. Not going to happen. Anyone who thought Israel would not defend itself hasn't been paying attention.
The British are absolutely responsible for this situation
The problem is that the ignorant people "calling for an end to the genocide in Gaza" were sound asleep during the *genocide in Israel* that led to the Israelis RETALIATING. Suddenly they wake up and think Israel is the bad guy, when it's the victim.
Look up what happened on Oct.7th and see if you're still surprised that Israel is fighting BACK. It has no choice. Thugs and terrorists who pretend to live in a non-existent country have been attacking innocent Israelis for a very long time now. What did they think was going to happen?
@@jsmith5951 europe and colonialism is the source of the problem. The weapons come from them
@@beachpicnicjoy no, it is the people who began the colonization by murdering, pillaging and expelling the native population to take their land. The self professed victimization while being the genocidal victimizer gets a bit old!
I'm missing the 'courageous stance' bit.
This is far from a courageous stance. This both-side-ism is sickening. You literally have a genocide going on.
So many people in this comment section are clueless about what israel truly is and how true natalie portman is with her quote.
What stance? She talks about big bad europe, that is good and all but that is not a stance. It is not even barely an opinion
Well, Portman was always overrated in terms of her intellectualism.
@@TOFKAS01 I liked her performance in leon but nothing else.
@@arbozaliyan Thats true. Unfortunately, her talent peaked at 12. After that, she became a pretentious peace of wood in terms of acting. She is definately not an idiot, but overrated as an actress and as an intellectual.
@@TOFKAS01 I don't know about her intellectuality nor have any idea about it. She spoke about a conflict between two states but said nothing about none of them. This means she is a coward. Not everyone has to take a stance but pretending to take one to appease some demographic is pathetic.
@@arbozaliyan Well, her public Image is heavily influenced by the fact that she is having a Harvard B.A. in psychology. And she always played the "sophisticated hollier than you" attitude. But when you read or Listen to her interviews in the past 20+ years, she always talked out of a rich girl bubble without much contact to the real world.
For me, she is quite bland and quite fake.
Wow...
Most beautiful actress I have ever seen
We can go on and on about this wrong done and that wrong done but in the end, it all boils down to the hatred between people who claim their religion supersedes all others. It is not about land. It is about hatred.
This is a common misunderstanding. I recommend reading some history. The early zionists were pretty much secular, and the Palestinians reacting to getting their land stolen weren't reacting to religion.
@@maziarfarzin3911 Try saying that to a Pro-Israeli and they will start crying the Jordanian River to you, calling you anti-semitic for making an irreligious point
Again, alot of people like you just blame religion. It's nothing about religion, Jews and Muslims coexisted in Palestine for thousands and thousands of years until the arrival of the Zionists
How the hell can you cheat on a beauty like that..

Bullshit
Bravo Natalie you deserve the Nobel Peace Prize ❤
No, she deserves been canceled for supporting an apartheid and genocide.

☑️☑️👍🏻
Where is the courage here?
I know, right? That's both-siding in a tender tone. As if 76 years of brutal occupation is a misunderstanding of some sort. Zionists are indeed colonialists!
Because she is a very devout Torah Jewess who knows Jews are never to call anywhere their homeland. Palestine was stolen by deception, and everyone knows theft by deception is illegal. She has also turned down lucrative gigs in Israel. She waited until marriage to have intimate relations, she was a model daughter, but with her own voice, and she feels for others. It's not a bad quality.
@@Research0digo she may have qualities but the most essential quality would be to denounce the genocide of the Palestinian people. And her statement dilutes Israel actions. Not courageous to me.
@@celidagolobic2156 agreed , also her belief in Torah would require her to differentiate between Jews and zios, I mean she even called Palestinians Arabs , the same way Israelis do to conceal their identity
@@enf.j1830 absolutely. One of the main problems I see is that if you exclude any and all people that are not Jewish, it establishes prejudice, arrogance and the syndrome of the “chosen people” at the implying that no one but “us” is worthy as humans or at least not as supreme as “us”. That is exactly the contrary of inclusiveness and being human. The interdependence of all beings. The extreme Zionism is the antithesis of any interdependency. They are supremacists. Judaism is religion and they oppose Zionism.
Still she has not criticize the occupation.... so no courage here
Even if her stance on the issue is soft, she isnt lying about the dilemma. And the Zionists dont like her for that, and that's good enough for me.
She called it colonialism which is exactly that.
Agree. Disappointing actually. Misleading title.
So true
What about “Pakistan?”
She is not particularly pro-palestine. She doesn't believe that arabs are nazis and that Israel is a colonialistic country. That's all she says.

But the Palestians actually welcomed the jews of Europe (read Roald Dahl's autobiography: going solo. Where he went to Palestine and saw that) so what she's saying isn't accurate. Arabs never saw the jews as the colonizer at the beginning...
that's right. It's the Europeans Zionists that are the colonisers. Middle Eastern Jews and Palestinians shared the land for centuries.
The jews see themselves as superman but in reality they are homelander.
well to be fair, she is a zionist, or was, now i am not sure which
They are nothing without america behind them
This is completely untrue. The Arabs despised the Jews and actively protested against allowing any more immigration - that is why after the 1929 Hebron Massacre (when Arabs r@ped and murdered hundreds of Jews and looted their businesses), the British Army restricted immigration to Judea.
After WW2 the British realized the error of their ways and allowed more immigration, which drove hostility among the Arab Supremacists and set about this conflict.
Oh - and Dahl was known for his virulent Jew hatred.
Where is the courage? She hasn't called out Israel or voiced anything regarding years of murder, theft and occupation...
Bla bla bal. rambling. This is what we call a word salad.
Honestly, when self-worshipping Jew like this one talks, the most they can do to look humble is to narrate the occupation as if both sides are in the wrong. Meanwhile, one occupation force grew to be a bully after being bullied and the other is being bullied after offering generosity for a society rejected by the whole world. HUGE difference. This is not display of courage. It is display of hypocrisy.
Where's the "courage" in here? Pure demagogery.
Its Portman. A pretty facade but not much behind it.

WELL SAID. She is vile and despicable
I mean, she is right in a way, BUT I don't think this is a case of both sides refusing to accept that they are two victims of the same abuse. In fact, Palestinians are very tolerant people. They told my uncle, *"We don't hate the Jews. We just want our land back. If my brother stole my land, I would fight him for it back."* Wouldn't you do the same? It's as simple as that.
The Palestinians had been incredibly kind and accepted my uncle when his fellow Jews rejected him for his closeness to "dirty Arabs." Struck by the kindness of the Palestinian brothers, he embraced Islam and now strongly advocates for the freedom of Palestine.
what she is saying is total nonsense and if you understood the history of the Middle East you'd know that. just because it's sounds original or sophisticated, or blames a third party, doesn't mean it's true. and just because she was born in Israel or a movie star also doesn't make it true, and doesn't make her an expert.
What she says is along the lines of what some historians say about World War II. If we want to give land as a compensation, then why not give a piece of Germany? Why give a piece of the Middle East for what Germany did? The Zionist movement originated in Europe.
@@beachpicnicjoy if you have any real intent to understand the Arab-Israel conflict, and certainly to convince other people, then you need to study more, write less, and stop being ignorant, and first of all stop writing half-baked ideas that you read somewhere from someone who is ignorant like you. what an incredibly silly claim you made about Zionism originating in Europe. Zionism is intrinsic to the identity of the Jewish people, and the idea and the word itself is all over the Bible, which is about 3000 years old. The State of Israel existed for 1200 years over 3000 years ago [when your "Europe" was just a forest and the French, English and Germans ran around in the forest]., until its destruction in 70AD. was Jesus a "Colonialist" back then? Since the late 19th century the Jewish people are merely coming back to their ancestral homeland. they are the indigenous. The "colonialist" narrative is something the Arabs invented as a PR scheme to undermine the historical connection of the Jews to Israel, in the same way that they deny that the Temple ever stood on the Temple Mount. by writing nonsense like that, you are serving as their useful idiot. Your compensation narrative is also subjective Arabist PR and has no connection to the historical reality of the Jewish people. Spend about 1/2 hour studying on Wiki and you'll be embarrassed by what you wrote.
@@beachpicnicjoy Germany did the worst but we all in the EU were swimming in common antisemitism as it was an ordinary racism deepely rooted at the time, just like now nationnalism and supremacism is growing back and migrants, brown people, and muslims are pointed and get legislations against them voted in many countries.
It is a collective guilt wich lead to the nazi holocaust, and it is still a collective guilt wich lead to palestinian genocide today as the majority of our representants are too feared or bounded to ACT against it, or they consider palestinians sub humans enough to agree that theyr genocide is the price to pay to end this forever war in Palestine, as the Israel project need to prevail in any of theyr conceiving theories.
Equating the current plight of these two groups as in someway having a similarity is not only not courageous, but muddled headed in the least, and disingenuous in the worst.

An intellectual stance from a very rich woman who had not many problems in her life.
I find it fascinating that the woman who played the part of a people that were nearly colonized by the Trade Guild in Phantom Menace, completely missed the point of the entire story. It's no different than how Mark Hamill has joined the Empire by giving praise the very same administration funding a G-cide. He played the part of a resistance fighter against the Empire and completely missed the entire point of the first three movies. There will soon come a time where the psychology of these people will be scrutinized for how completely obtuse their thinking was during a time where the facts were right in our faces.
This is kind of BS, but she's in hollywood and of ashkenazi jewish background, so I cannot be too harsh on her. This is probably the worst thing she's allowed to say about israel.
But she is saying that Jews, and Arabs should focus their energy on the source of their trauma and grievances: Europe
@@beachpicnicjoy Ya but it deflects from the main issue. Palestinians do not see Europeans colonizers when they look at their Jewish brothers. They see actual colonization taking place for the last 100 years. I do agree there are grievances both people should acknowledge and deal with to heal and co-exist. And yes European/US played a massive role in all of this. But none of the trauma can even be addressed if Palestinians cannot return to their rightful homes.
More than 75 years after Israel declared statehood, its borders are yet to be entirely settled. Occupation will extend to the map that exist in their agenda. Yet we have to respect accept Israel, agree on the genocide. Otherwise we are antisemitic
76 years after Israel's creation, the Palestinians, and much of the Arab/Muslim world, refuse to accept it in ANY borders.

Only the second view is true on the ground , finding a solution forwards requires recognizing the tragic horrendous situation that palestinians have been put into due to european radicalism and zionists greeds , describing it as if the two sides are equally a victim is basically denying what zionists have been doing to palestinians for over 75 years ! Maybe what she mentioned is an overview but it's absolutely not enough for tagging it with "finding a solution forward"

Exactly, you stated the facts and exactly what I interpreted in her opinion, she denied the true facts of the history. Let alone she characterized Arabs characterized seeing Jews (Zionists, in this case) as colonialists and Jews see Arabs as Nazis. Why not use the same language on both sides and not dehumanize the other? OMG.
This would be true if it weren't for the fact that one group of Jews is currently being (and has been for the past 76 years) abusive towards Arabs in the same way and maybe even worse than the Europeans were. So, no, that is not a courageous stance.

she was born in israel. so abandoning your family is not the easiest thing. we all have a family member thats brainwashed but we dont wish death on them
Israel was founded on a sense of "racial superiority".
Israeli Laws have Jews as being superior to the "Arabs".
The reason Palestinians are called "terrorists" is because Palestinians want to be treated like human beings, and live in a country where no group is discriminated against simply for being the "wrong" ethnicity or religion.
As long as there is a "Jewish state" in Palestine, there will never be peace in the region.
What Arafat wanted, why he was killed, is one state where nobody is treated as better or worse than anyone else, solely based on race or religion.
And that's what the IDF has always fought against.
The last thing an Israeli wants, whether it's Netanyahu or Portman, is to accept non-Jews as their equal fellow human beings.
That's why actual Orthodox Jews in the Middle East often identify as "Jewish Palestinians" rather than as "Israelis".
Palestine would be a state for everyone. Israel is For Jews Only.
What? 23% of Israel's citizens are not Jewish, including 21% arabs, including 16% Israeli-Palestinian who live with equal rights under the law.
There might be something to say about the differential effect of certain laws in practice in the same way we can talk about districting in America affecting some minority negatively but that's about it.

Biblically, the land Israel occupies is theirs plus more land that is in that region was given to them. The Arabs disputing this really don't have a good argument other than Ishmael was the older son so he should have inherited the land. The problem with this argument is that Isaac was the son given to Abraham by God, while Ishmael was Abraham trying to make it happen himself. The second argument is that Arabs were on the land in 1948 when Israel fought and occupied the land for the first time in nearly 2000 years. Please refer to the above explanation. By the way, I am not Jewish.
Nobody cares what the Bible says, it's a fiction book. And being in a land 3 thousand years ago is not an excuse to bomb the hell out of children to kill 1 target.
