As usual, Lawrence is correct. Way back in 1968 in my Economics 101 class I was taught that tariffs are a tax on the consumer. How the NY Times failed to understand this is utterly amazing.
Example of what beecnul8r is saying: If you buy a car that costs $30,000, and that car comes from a nation that has a 100% import tariff placed on it for imported vehicles, guess what? The sticker in the window of this vehicle will have a line item for a $30,000 ADDITIONAL charge because of the tariff! The car now costs (and YOU must pay) $60,000 to take that car off the lot! Remember: YOU. PAY. THE. TARIFF!!! The tariff is meant to PREVENT the consumer from buying the product. It may hurt the nation that makes the car, but they are NOT (repeat, NOT) paying the tariff for that car.
@@MikeWiggins1235711 and the way it hurts the foreign manufacturer is decreased sales. But they still possess all the factories and workers. truth over power and I highly commend him for it.

Thank you Lawrence for not letting these fools get away with sane washing this!
I love it when someone finally speaks the truth. Unfortunately, even on MSNBC it only seems to be Lawrence heading that up.Thank you Lawrence for never sane-washing the Tangerine Traitor
I'm 💯 for Lawrence, but I have to add Rachel Maddow to this. She's straightforward with her assessments as well, no fluff. Rachel and Lawrence are THE STARS OF MSNBC.🎉🎉
MSNBC loves citing the NYT sh^^^y polls
@@alexismansion9761 I like that Rachel Maddow had the integrity to criticize Obama on one of his administrations shortcomings (which was later fixed, BTW)

Once again, THANK YOU LAWRENCE for speaking the TRUTH!!! You are the HERO of SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT!

Way to call out the idiocracy of the NYT. How far they have fallen.
Right?! When they were once called “the paper of record” not only for the U.S. but for the world given our place in the world as the most powerful and richest country. Sooooo shameful!
One reason why Trump filed for bankruptcy six times, he has no knowledge of economics even though he said he went to Wharton.
Wharton must be a remedial school.
He hung out there. Studying is for sucker's and losers.
The Wharton School of Business at the time was just a private school and did not grant degrees. Trump did not even have to have a passing mark, he just received a certificate of completion. His father was trying to get him into college but his high school marks were so poor no accredited college would accept him.
Even Warton said Trump's economic policies would be a disaster for our economy.
His father paid for to graduate
Lawrence is the best at calling these foolish so call politicians out on their bs
Thank you, Lawrence O'Donnell, for speaking the absolute truth! Truth seems to be a rare commodity in corporate media these days.
Lawrence O'Donnell is nothing but a left-wing lunatic he's on a platform as the king of fake news. Haze never spoke the truth in his life. People like Kim is the very reason why everyone with a functioning cerebral cortex says journalism is dead.
Agree. He is doing a great job and I’m very grateful for his ‘voice’.

Thank you for sharing this with the people. TRUTH!
So they will increase efforts to sell to other countries without tariffs, benefitting those other countries with an abundance of cheap goods. Europe could become a huge winner.
Indeed and at the same time Trump supporters believe he will lower prices as he raises them with tariffs.
1970 for me in my civics class and i attended an inner city high school.

This is why English, Economics, and U.S. History are important to learn in high school.
Civics, please add civics to the list.
@@karmaalstad5588 All of these things ARE taught in school. Americans do not value education though we say we do. We have devalued being educated. We only measure it in dollars/income potential. It is more important to be educated to be a better prepared human being to participate in our society.
Trump was taught civics, economics, and the rest. He chose not to learn, repeatedly. He doesn't even know what the job description of The President of the United States is. He had teachers try to teach him.
Critical thinking needs to be taught also since it doesn't seem to be promoted anymore. Import tariffs are paid by importers, not foreign countries, which is a well-known fact. As a result, it's ultimately the American consumers who bear the cost through higher prices. At this point New York time is really misleading.
Well, maybe the NYT is "misleading." But I dare them to come out and say tr*** is a LIAR on the subject of tariffs. He has been saying this outright lie for at least 2 years and no one calls him out for it.
