  • Today I will be making the AIRFIX 1/72 Hawker Typhoon in 1/72 scale model kit - amzn.to/2GApKyD
I use a variety of of model making techniques techniques to complete this build. To make this model I mainly used Tamiya Plastic cement and Tamiya Putty to fill in the gaps. To paint the model the model I used a airbrush with a 0.3mm nozzle and to straighten the edges I used my my favourite paint brushes by "Atris Opus" - bit.ly/2RF8I8Y

Through out the model making process I used a website called www.paintconversioncharts.com to assist in finding the correct paint in different brands. I like to use the Vallejo Model Air range but the instruction give you the Humbrol values. Paint Conversion Charts is a simple to use website that you can search for any colour and find conversions in many other manufactures. See below the list of paints I used:
Vallejo Model Air 71.062 “Aluminium (Metallic)”: bit.ly/3aibW9K
    Vallejo Model Air 71:057 - Black: bit.ly/34cW9FE
Vallejo Model Air 71:048 - Dark Sea Grey: bit.ly/2UabGnI
Vallejo Model Air 71:019 - Camouflage Dark Green: bit.ly/36AvAKV
Currently I am making a lot of 1/72 scale models as I am in the process of selling and buying a new house. While this process is under way I will be sticking the 1/72 scale as I don't have a lot of room! In the new house I will have a bigger hobby room and I am hoping to try some new video styles and improve the quality of my videos! You know those builds where things just quite don't go to plan... well this is one of them! Sorry for the over exposed start - it does get better after a few moments! My wife and I are in the process of selling our house - so my lovely hobby room has been converted back into a bedroom. Im squashed at the end of my Computer desk, and I forgot to check the footage before starting recording!

Just got one of these kits yesterday - four full sets of sprue, fully loaded ammo cassettes (?) for inside the wings, six (!) tubs of paint and TWO brushes. Not bad at all for a starter set! I even got the fuselage together without any tears even after glueing in the pilot's seat and control panel like the instructions say!? I'm no master builder but I know this is going to be a good 'un and I don't use airbrushes (yet). Excellent video and very inspiring 👍

Thanks! I normally thin it down with some of vallejos flow improver, I normally make it quite watery and I usually set my PSI to about 15. I change it up depending on the paint as sometimes different colours and ages of paint can effect it. Hope this helps!

A good build. I am thinking of building this Typhoon.
You didn't apply the roundels on the top of the wing - was there a reason for this?

It’s a nice model! Yeah.... I had a accident with a cup of water and the decal sheet 😆😆

Thank you! I would say it is! There are a few fiddly parts but otherwise it should be fine.

Why did you first airbrush and then paint brush the camoflage? Never seen anyone did this! Imho it makes no sense... 🤔

Hey Juno! The brush was used to tidy up some of the edges that were a bit fuzzy, from airbrushing the camouflage. This was my second time painting this camo. The first time the masking tape pulled off half of the paint.
