I have a Honda with a 2 wire kill switch and I wired the green and black-white wires coming from the key switch like a extra kill switch and that prevents anyone from starting it if you don’t have the key
If you still have this same question (i doubt you do) you don’t wire the orange wire into anything. I just finished this install and all you need to do is use the green wire and unplug the orange one.
Can't you just push start the bike and will it still start if you have a kick start and you kicked it because my bike has an electric start but it also has a backup kick starter,
1999 wr400. Key ignition installed. Works to turn bike on to power everything but when key is turned off the engine continues to run. Do you know what is probably wrong
Hey bro I am having trouble hooking up my starter wiring to the key switch , I turn the key on and it starts the bike. Can you help? How can I contact you?
I have the Tusk Kit and cannot figure out how to connect my headlight to it otherwise all is working on the enduro lighting kit. Bike is a 2001 KTM 400 EXC
I would try to find a keyed ignition switch that is closed when the key is off and opens the circuit when on. Then i would wire this into the kill switch harness. (preserving the function of the kill switch) This way, the key ignition would keep the kill switch engaged (cutting spark) until you put the key on. It would be easy for a knowledgeable thief to just clip the wires to the key and ride, though. I think it would still be a great theft deterrent.
it's always on. all trail techs are hooked up to the battery and also have a spare battery in them (watch batteries). they just go into sleep mode until the front wheel moves
Good video. Your wiring is slightly incorrect though. The green wire/ black with white stripe is a separate circuit that connects when the key is in the off position. There is no need to use either of those wires in this application.
OK PLEASE REPLY!!! i bought the key ignition put it on my bike the red light comes on and everything but the problem is the bracket the one you put up is no longer available so i hope you could help me find another thank you
Minuteman108 Hi man. Sorry I have been out of town apartment hunting in portland oregon. Try this link www.jpcycles.com/product/3700050 Sorry for the delay
+Minuteman108 Hi could you tell me where you connect the key switch to on the dirt bike? i have a 2 stroke that you just kick start and ride. but i would like to put a key ignition on it? any help is appreciated

Thanks man! Just did this on my ttr 230!
Awesome a how to video that starts half way thru the project. Very helpful lol
can you put this in simple words for me this is my first bike I'm trying to figure it all out
Good stuff. I like the Vapor too.
You said the green wire from the switch goes to black and red but where does the other side get hooked up?
Great video! Always wanted to get rid of the silly on off switch! What did you do with the unused orange wire in the harness? Thanks

@@rcandtrains maybe it will help someone else as I sold the bike. Thanks!
Nice vid, clean install too. Nothing like working on your own bikes, feeling of satisfaction after is great. T4S

cool man, the bike's really coming along nicely.
Thanks man. its been a lot of fun.
Thanks for the informative video, but what if I choose to steal your bike by using your kick-starter or rolling it in 2nd gear?
So is this for bikes that don't have a key ignition originally?
+VeyronGaming yes
Can I put it on a 125cc pit bike?
It's a cheap Chinese so nothing special
yes you can
can someone help me find the bracket???
About to do this to my 2005 wr450f, if i have any questions ill ask. Great video
How did it go? Just got my ignition for my 03 WR250F.
ok so I bought a cheap ignition and it has 4 screws and 3 channels accessories on and off which color wire goes to which channel
My dreams fell apart when i realized that motocross bikes doesn;t have a key ignition...
GOOD THING I SAW THIS!
Works perfectly
what about the orange wire did you ground it?
Does that work with a kick Starter?
+trials_bike2000 you need an electric motor start in your bike
trials_bike2000 i have the same question....
I think it's should works with a kickstarter if you "insert" key ignition into Kill Switch button line.
@@ztmoto3249 I have the same keyed ignition and I’m trying to do exactly that right now any idea of how to do it
I know this is a dumb question but what js the red light for on the push to start ignition anyways?
so with the ground did you just cut it in half and then put all three ends together?
When u turn the key on what it a little box with the red light. Where can u get that so when u turn the key on u know You have power
that's the original ignition that came with the bike
So you get rid of the tusk on off switch
Did you keep your tusk on/off switch after you hooked it up to the key switch?

so will the bike start with out that key? And dose that mean u can get rid of that big ugly on/off switch?
What to do with the Orange wire from the tusk kit?

The bracket is not available anymore. Anyone know the dimensions of the bracket so I can try and find a similar one?

FL GATOR Rocky Mountain ATV has a pretty decent instructional video that I used to hook up my headlight successfully
So on a "kick and go" 2 stroke where would the key ignition adapter connect to? the wire harness?

Did everything you said and now my ignition wont even work at all...even if i wire it back up the way it is stock. Did i major fuck up somehow?
Make sure everything is grounded.
How do you install it
Ttr230?
How do you have your trail tech wired to come on with starter
it's always on. all trail techs are hooked up to the battery and also have a spare battery in them (watch batteries). they just go into sleep mode until the front wheel moves
This didnt work for me my switch has the same colors. Where does the other side of the cut black wire go to?
Shit, I was hoping you'd have an answer as my 03 is similar to yours.
Yeah i never figured it out lol i just put my gloves over my ignition light whenever i park and hope noone knows its a wr450f lol

Well that sucks.
