I'd argue that it'd definitely be better with a remix. I can go back to Iceborne any time I like and re experience this fight with better immersion on my computer. Sure, Rise has the dogs and wirebugs, which are awesome, but World has the better overall quality, and taking away the fantastic music featuring beautiful vocalizations that rise provides just highlights that.

Not only did they keep the theme the same. SHE HAS THE ORIGINAL ICEBORN VICTORY THEME! She is a fan service in this game and I am 1110% for it! And as icing on the cake I also noticed the quest name is also the same as iceborn.

(Spoiler alert for the Sunbreak Velkhana fight) As someone who started with World, I've never been able to have the full impact of something like this before, but killing Velkhana in Sunbreak and hearing the World victory music... that hit. It felt so special, so personal.
I feel this and I just picked up World during the last week of 2022. I literally JUST fought and beat Velkhana 5th try and then a week later they announced her in Sunbreak. I felt it too even though I’m newer to the series

It's a nice touch how the Velkhana is designed as a supreme ruler. I mean, all Elder Dragons have that flare of "supremacy" in that not only are they on the top of the food chain, but also consciously take care and, well, "rule" their natural habitat. This can be seen in Malzeno for example. However I really dig how the Velkhana is very clearly shown off as a somewhat cruel ruler. The very militaristic theme is modeled after the typical military march, and even the name of the theme is "Splendiferous Silver Sovereign". And Sovereign is term often used for Generals that has either received an area to rule... or taken it themselves by force. In Sunbreak the species is nicknamed "Lord of Ice", another type of political ruler. Also it's direct design reminds me a lot of mid 70's rock bands, and their silly makeup and costumes. Especially something like Kiss lol.

Risen Valstrax He hits like a truck and can very easily cart entire teams the second he turns Risen. But I beat him first try without carting a single time.
Honestly Velkhana was a lot harder than expected, coming from the person who grinded AT Velkhana for fun. It certainly gave me a good bit of trouble. Probably as much trouble as World Rajang gave me, but not as much as Violet Mizu, Risen Teostra, or ESPECIALLY Risen Valstrax.

In fact, if you're using Flaming Ammo, Element Exploit and Elembane Jewel 3, you actually deal the most damage by aiming for Velkhana's torso due to it being 30 to Fire, while aiming for its head is the least effective, since it's only 20, preventing the Elembane Jewel from taking effect.
There’s some subtle difference from Iceborne. This one feels a bit more grand, the piano-solo a bit more pronounced. There’s something about ice-related themes and piano that just fits so well together.
@@PsychicStoryteller It's subtle but I think they took the original track and just tuned up the mixing/mastering a tiny bit! In Iceborne a lot of the instruments were closer together in volume, but in Sunbreak they made part of the brass section just a tiny bit softer/quieter to let the piano stand out a little bit more.

Comparing the part around 0:47 and 2:20 especially I really think the brass was just a tiny bit louder in Iceborne. Her theme sounds very royal and regal, but kinda ruthless and intense, I love use of brass and string to drive this sense of elegant anger, Capcom created a well crafted theme for Velkhana, a fitting theme for one of the best ice monsters
right after i killed velkhana and it played the iceborne completion theme it was *such* a throwback to when i STRUGGLED to kill this piece of work on iceborne for the very first time. im glad to see i actually enjoyed his fight on sunbreak.
Fans: No remix? Other returning monsters have their remix for their theme. Capcom: It has 4 different theme in its single game debut. Not counting mount, pursuit or chase. You still want more?
the only thing that i don't like about all of this, is that only velkhana receives this special treatment, in stories 2, kulve taroth, nergigante and some others just receive a new theme that doesn't sound even remotely close to the original one and velkhana has the theme unchanged its not fair

I mean, these are animals species, it is just scientifically and linguistically incorrect. Even in game they refer to monsters as IT, unless the gender is know as for the raths. Actually, I don't even know why the fuck I'm typing this, it's not like it going to change something, and the topic isn't even that important anyway.
Well, some monsters only have one gender being targeted. The two that come to mind are Mizutsune and Gammoth (from Generations and Generations Ultimate) - Mizutsune that are hunted are always males in the throes of the mating season, and all Gammoth that are hunted are females, generally herd matriarchs that have gone berserk. And besides, Velkhana's svelte, lithe figure (when unarmored) seems kind of feminine at first glance.

Velkhana's theme hasn't changed since Iceborne, we missed a chance at a chanting theme in rise and didn't even get a slight change like Shagaru. How many more games will it before we get some type of orchestral change in game?
The thing I was truly looking forward to was Velkhana getting a musical makeover. Was very disappointed that they just used the old theme, as amazing as it is.

My first reaction "oh your back for more. This is going to be fun!" And when I first fought her the first 5 mins I died twice once to my own stupidity second to her new big attack that one shotted me since I was 75% health down. When I first saw this my friend was watching since I was in school on my switch and both of us said "WHAT IS IT DOING" as I died but then I said "Just like your AT in iceborne I never gave up soloing with great sword I won't now" most stressful but fun fight in sunbreak for giving me the AT flashbacks
Haven't played World, it was my first time against this dragon, and damn! Does the ice gives it a bonus in charisma! Without it, it looks like a grey dried raisin.

A friend reation of its cutscene was "wasnt it a she? why it says lord of the tundra?" And i did tell him beffore taht people usually call Velkhana as female cuz... the name is petty feminine and the movements too (never played world or iceborne by myself btw) but i told him "I might call it a she but its just a tittle, like we call Seregios, Sergio cuz its a name in spanish but... dont think about it to much!" Love the monster.
Basically yes, but you could cheese her very easy with the clutch claw, so in Iceborne Velkhana was 80% of the fight lying on the ground. In Sunbreak shes a little bit harder than Iceborne.
I would say she’s easier in iceborne tbh because she can be easily abused with the clutch claw to the point where she spends 80% of the fight lying on the ground
@@HanDaimond it’s literally more consistent and “in place” than this theme is. AT Velkhana’s theme shares a lot of motifs with early classical music, this is just a weird mess of brass and piano, and the occasional wind instrument.
Fucking hilarious. Words can't even begin to describe how much I hate this thing. How much I DIDN'T want it to be in Sunbreak. How little I genuinely understand how or why anyone likes it at all, whatsoever. And now, most of all, out of every single other monster out of LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE IN THE ENTIRE GAME... this fucking thing is the only won to have the same exact theme it had its it debut game... which may I remind you was literally one and a half games ago in which people probably hear this theme more than enough times already, and at the absolute least, it's shitty Arch Tempered had a different theme... but now. Ngl I thought it was pretty cool to see velkhana return but when I hunted him I was majorly disappointed... Somehow easier than the the OG version?? Also it feels pretty lazy to not remix the theme as everyone else got one. Should've just added ruiner nerg or a variant of velkhana instead imo.. overall cool fight though I do like velkhana (plus that palamute skin is amazing).

A friend reation of its cutscene was "wasnt it a she? why it says lord of the tundra?" And i did tell him beffore taht people usually call Velkhana as female cuz... the name is petty feminine and the movements too (never played world or iceborne by myself btw) but i told him "I might call it a she but its just a tittle, like we call Seregios, Sergio cuz its a name in spanish but... dont think about it to much!"

Ngl, after fighting her for the first time here in Sunbreak...kinda underwhelming ngl. Her legs are good for DB tho.

Basically yes, but you could cheese her very easy with the clutch claw, so in Iceborne Velkhana was 80% of the fight lying on the ground. In Sunbreak shes a little bit harder than Iceborne.
I would say she’s easier in iceborne tbh because she can be easily abused with the clutch claw to the point where she spends 80% of the fight lying on the ground
Would have been a lot more interesting if we got a new theme instead of just Velkhana from Iceborne thrown into Rise

Then what is AT Velkhana’s theme? Because as far as I’m concerned, it’s an improvement.
That theme is all over the place, this one’s good enough.
@@HanDaimond it’s literally more consistent and “in place” than this theme is. AT Velkhana’s theme shares a lot of motifs with early classical music, this is just a weird mess of brass and piano, and the occasional wind instrument.

And now, most of all, out of every single other monster out of LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE IN THE ENTIRE GAME... this fucking thing is the only won to have the same exact theme it had its it debut game... which may I remind you was literally one and a half games ago in which people probably hear this theme more than enough times already, and at the absolute least, it's shitty Arch Tempered had a different theme... but now.

This fucking thing, through some dark magic was somehow made worse in every possible way, now has the easiest and stupidest 'super move' in the game, and to top it ALL off... they actually couldn't even be bothered to remix the fucking theme with vocals... whitch is literally SunRise's entire shtick...
Out of Every. Single. Monster... either better or worse(I.E Rajang, Valphalk,.etc.) it would have at the absolute least been... different. It would've been almost somewhat justifiable to have this thing back, again.

They straight up, copied and pasted the theme. Literally did do anything to with it at all.

Ngl I thought it was pretty cool to see velkhana return but when I hunted him I was majorly disappointed... Somehow easier than the the OG version?? Also it feels pretty lazy to not remix the theme as everyone else got one. Should've just added ruiner nerg or a variant of velkhana instead imo.. overall cool fight though I do like velkhana (plus that palamute skin is amazing).
I found it significantly harder personally. Honestly I had a similar amount of trouble with World Rajang, it really surprised me.
Honestly I found her harder in sunbreak simply because she has access to her AT moves and she can be easily abused in iceborne with the clutch claw to where she spends the majority of the fight lying on the ground
