- Riding offshore in some beautiful conditions! Feb 2023.
I got invited by some of the locals to do a downwind run with them. I took the opportunity to get some footage of the amazing scenery and of them riding ocean swells! Was a pleasure to watch these talented local riders going downwind reading the swells. The wind was strong. Stunning water colors. Humpback whale breaches. And some fun glides!
Filmed with a gopro hero 9.

This is so awesome.
Thanks Delta. Was a fun run.
So sick!
Super fun video Lance. We almost didn't go that day because the wind was so off shore. The run was very technical, and you really had to be surfing left as much as possible. Really great to hook up with you, hope to see you again next time you're on Maui! Kane is an amazing in all the foil disciplines, Gabi is astonishing as well. So much talent here, and great people to boot!
Thank you. Im glad we ended up going that was super fun for me. I’ll be back there soon! Was a pleasure to see all the talent there.
Awesome video! Them peeps are masters at reading the bumps, and connecting so smooth, and you're right there with the wing! Hope to see you in the water out there one day!
Thank you heyreny! The are definitely masters at it. Was an amazing day. Likewise hope we ride together one day!
awesome .
Thanks Gordon. Hope you have been getting some riding in 🤙🏽
Epic man
Nice Vid! Looks like a lot of fun 😊!
Thanks, Jim. Sure was!
Interesting boards - extremely narrow! Would be cool to show them paddling before up on foil. Looks like Kane's paddle can double as a sail.
Everyone started at different times and away from each other. And most everyone paddled up once and went the whole way without errors. Kane was definitely using his paddle as a sail at times you can notice. And it definitely adds some propulsion on the really windy days like this day.

Thanks for sharing. Was impressing to see him paddle up and go! Great video
Great video Lance 👍 I'm keen to do the same style video, capturing my mates who paddle while i wing after them. What go pro mount were you using?
Thanks mate. I would enjoy to see it. I use a orange floaty housing with the gopro clip accessory. When in use, i will switch from filming with it with my hand. Or in my mouth biting onto the foam. When its not in use, i have it clipped to my shorts or PFD or water bladder shoulder strap. Never in the way. Gopro Clip is solid. Never comes unclipped when crashing.
Nice! What board dimensions were they using? (LXW) Vol
The boards they were using were 6-7.5 ft. Guessing between 100-115Liters
@@Lanceisoutside Thanks for info!
Which gofoil setup were you using? thanks
I was using my rs1150 with 14inch tail 👌🏽
Lance is in Hawaii! If I watch enough footage of Kane do I get that smooth? Hope so
Haha i was for a bit! I think you will learn by watching Kane. I do! Was amazing to watch him in person. Insane efficiency. At times it seemed he was being powered by a motor because he was going so fast.
@@Lanceisoutside Yes absolutely, this is a great video. got to shred with the local rippers in PAG Florida recently, learned a ton in 5 days. The energy and friendship from wind foil people is incredible
That’s awesome Michael. Love the stoke and happiness of the foiling communities and willingness to share information and spots. Good times good times.
@@Lanceisoutside Historic levels of stoke! Powsurf cross training at home now, I'll be in tex mid
April
Awesome man sounds like you’re frothing. Hit me up if you come to the Corpus Christi area in April 🤙🏽
How many people go missing. Or do they have backup plan
@peetsnort I Haven’t heard of anyone going missing. Most people take phones with them and wear leashes. But not everyone from what I’ve seen. When i do my solo open water downwinders, i use a lifejacket, leash, share my location with a friend on land who is watching my run (Glympse App). As well as a reflective mirror, whistle, inflatable tube and high visibility clothing.
Think about all the driving involved to set up these downwinders. Is it not motor assisted foiling?
It Can definitely be alot of work and driving. But the reward is well worth it. Riding endless waves for miles and miles is hard to beat and very addictive. No motor assistance on these foils. Just propelled by the wind and ocean swells.
Too far out. Too dangerous....
Definitely a big risk being that far out. It’s scary for sure. But sure is fun out there.
Awsome, what foil set up, Kane?, thnaks
He was riding his 850cm front wing on his own foil brand “omen”
