  • Has Tesla ruined the Tesla Model 3? Well, that's unlikely to be honest. Because, yes, it's had a facelift - the first physical changes to the car since its launch last year, in fact - but the changes aren't massive. They're certainly worth knowing about though. So watch this review to find out exactly what's new and whether it makes the car better or worse.

I much prefer the chrome to the satin black but my prejudice may have been influenced by black on cars in the past such as the BMW 3 Series denoting the entry levels models whereas the chrome embellishments identified the higher priced 6 cyl models. Of course Ford were the past masters of adding more chrome as you advanced from the L, to GL, GLX, Ghia, Ghia X.
I am probably also portraying my age by saying that I think Tesla have taken its minimalist, button free design to the extreme. At the very least the Model 3 should have a head up display for speed and immediate Sat Nav directions. The tablet display is too tempting to be distracted by whereas at least one supplementary screen would not take your eyes as far off your driver’s sight line.

I think Tesla also dropped the performance on the 0-60 times across all the versions. Instead of spending all that extra money on the Performance version, we opted to buy the LR and chip in for the performance "boost" at $2,000. That split the 0-60 difference almost exactly in half for a lot less money. We didn't like the lower chassis in our snowy climate nor the expensive, noisy, and hard riding tires on the performance version anyway.

I personally do not like the black satin trim with the white paint. I ordered a Model 3 LR about 2 weeks ago and was going to have white until I found this out. I like the flush door handles, but to pick them out in black against the white makes them stand out which seems contradictory to me. I therefore ordered the blue at extra cost. I am pleased with all the other improvements though, it should arrive in about 3 more weeks, so fingers crossed I get one with decent panel gaps.

For all that has been invested in this car, for what they charge for it... to still have fit and finish and panel gap issues, is inexcusable. I suspect the main reason for switching the trim from chrome to black is to disguise that issue, rather than address it and fix it. It’s 2021 and Tesla can’t rest on being a start up. This all being said, it is a beautiful car, and its power and range should stifle any closed minded gas adherent. @David-bl1bt 3 года назад

I don't think the double glass will achieve any major noise insulation benefits as it is only on the front windows, not them all. They should have done all the glass, or better still none at all as it just adds weight and spent the money on sound insulation elsewhere, such as internal panels, the floor etc.
I prefer the old console as it complements the minimalist interior design better and lends itself to customisation to individual choice by a wrap. I don't like the exposed phone holder on the new one as anything popping-up on the phone's screen could be annoying/distracting, particularly at night, and if you leave the car for just a few minutes means removing your phone as it would be on show.
The glove box usb is a good idea, but an easily achieved diy job if necessary.
The auto trunk/boot has no foot operation so is of little benefit, again it just adds unnessary weight.
They should have utilised the money by improving their quality control measures to lift their manufacturing prowess, reputation and perceived quality to achieve an outstanding car rather than a decent one..... it isn't rocket science!

Just like in the us, california has the majority. It doesn’t mean that Californians have a better tesla owners experience. In the flyover states we still have superchargers where we need them and they are seldom overcrowded. Not always the case in california. So don’t let that put you out, so long as tesla has at least enough superchargers to get you across your routes. I like to see them every 100 miles along our freeways.

Centre console update is a coin flip really. The space inside the 2019 car is very useful and I wouldn't say the flip panels were flimsy at all. I did indeed wrap my centre console and don't judge others who leave the piano black. Same with the chrome delete really. It's personal preference. To be honest these are very minor things when you think about the fact that Tesla have only existed on the roads for about 10 years and they have come so far. 3) That HUDs are not viable for EVs with any level of FSD. People will still be driving and going between modes for many many years. This is especially important for cars without drivers gauges, situational awareness, and AR visual elements. Tesla is a good looking car, with unique features and incredible performance. Hands down on the way the company has helped revolutionise, propel the electric advancement in an astronomical speed, shaking up the car industry and making them realise that the way forward for their survival is producing electric cars. Despite all these praise for Tesla they kind of shoot themselves in the foot by not paying attention to detail.
As a consumer looking into buying my first electric car, I should not be encountering problems like panel gaps and other faults being discussed in this and other countless videos that I have watched about Tesla cars from car reviewers and Tesla owners. It's astonishing after all these years Tesla have not dealt with these issues that could easily be picked up if proper Quality Control was put in place. I cannot justify to myself spending £40000-65000 to buy any M3 variant (depending on the choice and features added) and end up taking the car back for repairs (and not maintenance which is close to non existence, since it's done every few years) within a few days, weeks, months or even the first year of ownership.
