Thank you. As a long time knitter I had to give up some knee-length work because of my hands.. I thought to try punch needle and your first kit I bought was horrible and I almost gave up but I stuck to it and have been watching your videos. Gosh, I can't thank you enough! I'm really sorry I didn't know about this sooner! Thank you so much!
Kate...Thank you so much for my order of my punch needles!!! I am loving working with them and I am now hooked. Your videos are wonderful and I appreciate you getting my order to me so fast. Thanks for putting all of this together for us creatives. Thanks Again!!!
These videos are just what I have been looking for! Thank you for these step by step tutorials, you are an excellent teacher! On to lesson 3...take care, Dora
Hi Kate! I have a question whenever you have the time. Regarding the Gruber frame, I am considering purchasing it but if I don't attach it to a table like you did do you think it will be troublesome to punch, like if I am sitting on a couch? Also, regarding the swivel, does it move on you when you are punching or does it stay in place until you move it? There are so many frames out there it's so confusing. Thanks for any help you can give. You're videos are really the best out there, thank you so much!!! Happy Thanksgiving...Dora
Hi Dora, I love my Gruber frame...but I have never worked with it in my lap. So I’m sorry but I can’t help you with that. As far as the swivel...there are two bolts on a ball that you can tighten or loosen the swivel to your liking. Hope this helps....Kate
That hooking frame is so cool! I am looking it up on the internet. However, it always requires quite a good amount of fabric, even when you are making small patterns. Do you ever use a hoop in those cases?
The only time I use a hoop is for the mini's. The remaining fabric I make into pouches for my preprinted patterns, so nothing goes to waste. You could save the fabric for the mini's ornies and such. Have a great day...thank you for your comment. Kate
Penny Kent You can...you will have to experiment, or test it. Common sense tells me the smaller the needle say 3 strand or one strand will slide through the fabric much easier. Give it ago and as always .......Enjoy!
Another pen for transferring the patterns to fabric using the window method or using a light box is a pen called Frixon by Pilot. It comes in different colors but I use the black. You can use this pen to transfer the pattern to your fabric if you are worried about the lines showing through on different projects. I believe lines would not show on punch needle projects but is really good for regular embroidery projects. With this pen if you aren't able to stay on the drawn line you traced after you have finished the project you simply iron over the project and the lines disappear with heat. I use it in regular embroidery and any other Craft I need to draw a pattern but don't want to leave the lines. I just sharing that info. I am a quilter, but enjoy trying other crafts. Oh you can get the pens at Walmart or usually at your local quilt shop.
my instructions from a kit told me to put fabric in hoop and cut fabric 1 inch all way round the hoop. once I did that it says to glue gun the rest of fabric after cutting down on hoop. then now I have a major problem it says to trace pattern hoop facing up but I can't its too thick of a fabric I can't see the pattern I am thinking I got wrong directions . I got the PUNCH NEEDLE KIT FROM HOBBY LOBBY
Weavers cloth is much tighter weave..if you are doing punch needle using floss or thread this is what you use. Monks cloth is a loose weave fabric used with yarn or wool strips...oxford needle.

Great video! Lots of helpful tips today, Kate. Thank you for the info regarding Weavers cloth.
Your welcome....many of the sales people have now idea...so if you can give them the number they will take you right to it.
Great tips! All videos help. I'm subscribing. I do lots of punch needle and also have videos.
I've used a light pad to trace the pattern onto the fabric I'm using.
It works well for me
Same concept. Light behind so you can see the pattern. Many people don't own a light box. The window works just as well. Thank you for your input!

Oh another thing I forgot to mention was that if you mess up drawing your pattern on your fabric you just have to iron it away and start over.
