Hi Syifa its really interesting what you said. You're right about following your instincts. Sometimes in our life even though we are young we are constantly thinking about what we want to do. As a South-East Asian myself, it really is very difficult to travel alone or even travel at all. It's not just that our passports are weak, it's also that our families are very protective of us. The idea of us traveling alone is so strange for our elders. It's also pretty difficult considering that when we do a lot of research, a lot of the info is usually catered to Westerners and et cetera. Idk man, just a lot of things holding us down. This is why I have so much respect for you, Syifa. You inspire me so much. I've always wanted to travel alone, and I never thought I could *actually* do that until I started watching your videos. Much love from the PH ❤
Travelling alone, especially as a woman, is marketed as this awesome, hip, cool, empowering and progressive thing to just jump onto doing. But, the glitz and glamour isn't the reality; it comes with risks to this day and any honest woman will tell you that. There's a reason why your elders are protective of you, as they should be. If you look at the stats of the kinds of dangers single lone female travellers fall into, they remain distinct from that of their male counterparts. There's simply no getting around that problem in the real world. So, it's wiser to travel in a group of friends, with your family, or with a husband. Try one of those options, and maybe you can still experience the wonders of various parts of the world.

Hi Adriana, I m Thai, you look so well in English likes native speaker. I feel enjoy with your journey. First time When I watched your VDO made me wow! Cleared and easy for your traveling and descriptions. However I would like Thanks a-lot for off shore stories.
thanks for sharing your experience, that I believe many of us Indonesian women can relate to. I have to say I'm one of the lucky ones, that I finally have my freedom and space to actually be myself instead of following certain rules and expectations from our culture that was just not important to me. I'm sure it's not easy for many others who may feel the same. Which is why sharing your story is so important. I'm so glad to come across your channel! 💞
You have interesting stories. Being an expat its doesn't mean we hate our original culture, but to improve the quality of life. I left my country since 2000, but I still keep my heritage, I am not losing my identity.
Thanks Indra! Since I live on the road, I am much more neutral with any kind of Indonesian heritage. To me, human being is all the same, identity shouldnt be stuck into one definition the rest of our lives. Life is so dynamic and human being will keep evolving. 🙂
you are doing well Syifa - at 66, I cannot do most of the travels but managed to see many parts of the world except Central and South America - please continue your travels and share your experiences - your vlogs have a more humane face to them - people, places, culture, and customs that you cover well. The only additional thing I request is that t=you ask people you come across how happy they are and why they are happy - be Happy yourself
Your story is so relatable to every girl in non-western countries around the world, no matter their culture, religion or background they also have this kind of feeling with the whole responsibility of their family, like financially or even future generations, etc. You're so brave and inspiring, breaking that stereotype and everything, keep doing what you're doing, not so many female travelers like you these days especially from Asia, because it's different not like some kind of glamourous instagram travel influencer or youtuber but a bit more like Vice or NatGeo kinda vibe. Looking forward for more of your story kak.
These women like Syifa Adriana are influenced by toxic Western ideologies. And these Western ideas have spreading throughout Asia in rapid movement because of internet. Don't listen to them as they will not guide you on the straight path.
Thanks for sharing insightful videos. Your mindset, sense of values and courage are truely impressive. Looking forward to watching new travel stories. Wish you all the best!
This is an older video, but I am so happy I found it. I'm American, and I absolutely adored your story! This is such a calming video with the music as well :)

You really inspire me and make me just go out and travel . I hope you succeed and achieve your goals 😊. Stay safe .Your well wisher😁
You are awesome Syifa! Bold, beautiful, and what's more, someone with a lot of grit! It isn't easy to be as calm as you in the face of uncertainty, however exciting that may seem for a while! But with a hustler attitude like yours, possibilities open up from nowhere!! So go on, explore the world, pretty woman!! ❤❤❤
From Australia. Many thanks & congratulations for sharing insightful travels on You-tube. I am now 70 years old & traveled on many of your journey's before the age of the internet & technology & before couch-surfing etc. Makes me feel like doing it again. Your courage and convictions are exemplary.
As the eldest daughter in the house, I always had this feeling of responsibility towards my family and whenever I tried to choose my dreams and intuitions over the household responsibilities, I always felt like I was being selfish. Thank you Syifa, this video made me realize that I'm not the only one.
Amritaa I think Adrina is a very selfish girl to have left her parents and shrugged her responsibility towards her parents and done what she wants. We have a duty towards our parents. Would you be where you are without the love and sacrifices of your parents. If our parents were selfish we would have grown up in foster homes. Shame on woman like her!
@@rudaabehisfahani1968 it's funny because her parents told her to shut her dream, to have less ambition than men, instead of encouraging her to be whoever she want to be they put her down, and here you are saying things like she has a duty to her parents? She is a grown up and she can choose whatever she wants! It is her life.
That was a really touching story. Very brave of you to come out of your culture, follow your heart, and do what you wanted to do. Look forward to the next installment!

You have a brave and inspiring spirit. Hopefully one day you can make a book of your life journey.
Hi Adriana, I m Thai, you look so well in English likes native speaker. I feel enjoy with your journey. First time When I watched your VDO made me wow! Cleared and easy for your traveling and descriptions. However I would like Thanks a-lot for off shore stories.
You are doing great, you are bold and strong female, feel safe in your home like country, we Nepalese are always in your support.
Syifa, your hardworking story is absolutely out of this world
thanks for sharing your experience, that I believe many of us Indonesian women can relate to.
Love the stories you share Syifa :) Keep inspiring!
you are doing well Syifa - at 66, I cannot do most of the travels but managed to see many parts of the world except Central and South America - please continue your travels and share your experiences - your vlogs have a more humane face to them - people, places, culture, and customs that you cover well.
Baru ketemu kanalnya. Kagum banget nih, punya aspirasi dan berani mengejarnya. Keep up the good work!!
I could watch hours and hours of your travel vlogs , certainly I get to learn many things from your travel stories. You are such a pure soul , beautiful inside and out. You really inspire me and make me just go out and travel . I hope you succeed and achieve your goals 😊. Stay safe .Your well wisher😁
What a great strory Syifa,
A lot of love from indonesia
KEEP GOING !!
Thanks Amanda!
Thank you Amrita! I love your comments. I am also the first daughter so I can completely relate to you ❤️❤️
@@SyifaAdriana Thank you for replying! I can't explain in words how much you inspire me everyday. Keep up the good work :) We love youuuuuu
Never feel guilty for choosing what is best to you!
Hey syifa, I'm also Indonesian, I used to watch your video, especially when u were in China, it was a long long time ago go hahah. This video is in my recommendation just now, I remember you wear hijab, so I scroll down and you are the same person

Syifa, I have been in Indonesia many times and traveled to many cities with my Indonesian girlfriend I had that time. I understand your frustration as a progressive woman. Wish you all the best in your feature plans .
Stay away from Indonesia, please. Indonesia doesn't need "progressive" Western people like you.
Beautifully said. This is my first video on the channel but what a story and what a message. So relaxing, too. ❤️
Halo, kak! Your story is so inspiring. I relate to a lot of your story growing up and struggling with disconnection.. glad this video somehow managed to find me :) kak you're so brave and smart. Keep doing you!
Mbak Syifa,
Senang sekali lihat progress mbak Syifa . Semoga impianmu , keinginamu semua berjalan dengan baik dan penuh kebahagiaan. Banyak tempat yg Syifa kunjungi adalah keinginkan ku untuk berkunjung juga. Melihat Videomu membuat rasa curious ku sebagaian terjawab. Maybe next time Bhutan, Tibet, Mongolia, ladakh. Stay Safe and Be happy always. Salam dari Kanada 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you for sharing a nice story Syifa. Most of the things you said is totally true and so relatable with mine and surely for many of Indonesian women I guess. Spend more money for ourselves, for travelling, shouldn't be a guilty pleasure just because of we have a family to support. I wish that every single woman can do more travelling before they get married to see how beautiful the world is out there.
Good Job Syifa😊😊😊👍👍 Stay safe and healty!
note: I promise to not skipping the ads to support you for making more incredible videos😊😁

Interesting story. I listened to it from the beginning to the end. I felt so day because I couldn't meet you in Sri Lanka when you visited here, though I live here. All the best to your travel journey. Hope to meet you in my beautiful country in the future.
Hi kak Syifa! Terima kasih ya sudah buat video ini. Very inspirational. Aku jadi sadar untuk tetep yakin sama diri sendiri, dengerin kata hati sendiri & berusaha untuk kejar yang aku mau walaupun kadang banyak orang yang gak bisa ngerti.

I am a big fan of you now, keep going. as a foreigner that I have been living in Indonesia since 2015 I know-how is hard to survive with the new environment. but I am so thankful for the Indonesian peoples, they are so hospitable and kind nation.
Greetings from Virginia! I found your channel by accident and love your story. Very inspiring! :)
Syifa as an Asian your vlogs is professional and interesting as Westerners keep up the good work.
Thank you Syifa for explaining why you left Indonesia. As a globe-trotter I can understand that. At the same time, many Nepalese and lovers of Nepal would like to learn why you decided to "stay" in Nepal. From your previous videos, I can have an inkling of why you may like to. But coming from you, it would be clearer. Thanks.
Hello Syifa, I'm from Indonesia too.. Watching this video really resonates with me. I've been solo traveling as well. And the idea of moving and living somewhere else really fascinates me. I've been to Nepal once and I also think to live there :) Hopefully I would be able to do long term travel like you one day. Thank you for inspiring :)
Hey Syifa, Your video is really inspiring me to get out of my comfort zone. Like you said about the Asian culture of family and parents to give something back, i also feel stuck there. Really tired of my 10-6 job. Love from Nepal and India .....
Hello Syifa. Great video, I liked it. Very interesting, I hope This kind of videos motivate other girls/ people to follow their pad, (not the pad that society or religion prescribes). You have all my support. Good job, very good job.
Hello syifa...
Hello! Thanks for the video! 1st time watching will definitely follow!

Same here in Cambodia......and it's hurt to live in that society as a female....and me and my parents we are moving to usa...hopefully we could ...
Wow, such a wise girl at such a young age! Thank you for the empowering speech!
Hello.. watching your videos always makes learned new things..God bless wherever you are..
Your story is an inspiration to many people who are afraid and uncomfortable of venturing out of their comfort zone. By sharing your experience, I’m sure you have inspired many people to take that leap into the unknown and know that everything will work out.
I love you kak Syifa ♥️♥️♥️♥️ inspired me so much as an Indonesian female and as a person who grow at the same culture 😘😘😘

You are daring and learning to go out of your own comfortable zone to explore the unknown riches and variety. That's what makes you quite unique... whole life can't always be traveling around the world of unknown places but need to settle down in some point of life somewhere. All the best for your life in Nepal.
i have that conflict too , expectations from family ,, just limits you , just fly like a free bird , your desires and inner voice is the god , worship that , and i think that is happiness or meaning of life
hehehe we are a bit similar in some ways, an Indonesian female with outspoken mind, not much welcomed by most local men or the society for being a total independent female, also was not having connection at heart and soul to the hometown I grew up in. I moved out too but unfortunately not out of Indonesia, I chose Bali as the closest international spot I could reach and been in Bali for almost 20 years now. Thanks for sharing your personal background... I know I am not the only one then :)... stay healthy and happy Syifa!
