Hi Kate, excellent video, as always. You are very comfortable in front of the camera. I wish I could be so I could make some videos about my journey to UoPeople, but it gives me anxiety to think of going in front of a camera and talking. That being said, I did get accepted and finished my first term this past Sunday. They gave me UNIV 1001 and PSYC 1111, and I did really well in both classes, I believe. As you know we are on break til 20 June. What two classes will you be taking? I will try my hand at Intro to Sociology and Biology 1 for Health Majors. As for peer assessment, I am getting better at it, and most of the comments I received were favorable. But these we’re introductory classes. But enough from me. Great video, keep it up. Here’s to our continued success! 👍🏼✅🌈👌🏼🌸
Hi Winnie, I also finished this term with online Education as Dr Sarah being the course instructor and Health Pyschology 1111 with Dr Tate being the course instructor. I guess we were in same class then. I am done with the final exams and awaiting for the results .Hope you are doing great?
I'm glad this mentality is dying. People with trades often make more than those with college degrees and if you notice many of the riches people in the world don't have these degrees. That's what they sold to the people to get them in debt.

I loved meeting your channel. Already following and wanting more videos. About the University, do you know if the delivery of a diploma is presential? I see that in the social network of the University have photos of people who go in some place to receive. Kisses. God bless you.
Thank you for your kind comment! I think they are starting to have some graduation ceremonies now. I'm excited for that when I'm ready to graduate. Are you thinking of applying to University of the People?
Hi Katherine. Thank you for encouraging us to pursue our goals. I would like to ask you a question: What institution issues the degree given by the UoP? I mean, when we finish the career, what national institution recognizes the degree? Thank you very much for your advice.
Hi , please reply!! I want to enroll in the UoP. But i am not sure if i should apply for an associate degree or a bacherlors degree. My question for you would be this: if i finish my asociates program, can i later keep studying 2 more years for the bachelors degree without admission problems? And finally, if i go directly for the bachelors degree, when i finish my first 2 years, can i get the asociates degree even if i am enroll in the bachelors?
For Firt question Yes you can go for your bachelor degree with out admission problem For second Now you can not if enrolled as bachelor student then you can not get associate. My opinion go for associate degree then after you finish go for bachelor degree Good luck bro
i have completed my master degree in physiotherapy and working in NGO as clinical physiotherapist and researcher in conducting clinical trial of assistive device for people with disability from past 10 years, i have tried many institutes in India and aboard for master degree in Public health for distance model, but i found lots of university offer regularly full time course with expensive tuition fee. would suggest me Associate degree on public health from University of people suits for my professional and education background? My professional aim is to work for International non -profit organisations like WHO, ICRC, UN, UNICEF, ... does this degree is suitable or acceptable for this organisations?
I really really want to go here, but I am a little leery. I read an article about how they don’t even have a physical office in CA, just a mailbox. They work out of Israel I think. Then there were questions about accreditation. Most people don’t have respect for the outdated global accreditation. Most want regional accreditation. Can you shed some light on this by any chance? I just don’t want my BA to be useless in the end.
Thanks for your reply! Can you refer me to the article you read? I'm curious. University of the People is an American organization. Accreditation is a complicated subject, and regional accreditation is very expensive to obtain. Even if it were possible, it would drastically increase tuition price. I address the value of the degree in this video, from my perspective. I feel that if you are learning and can contribute something valuable to society as a result, it shouldn't matter whether people find the degree "useless." It depends on you, your attitude, and how you can demonstrate your skills.
@@katherinemays9856 I did enjoy the video. However, there is a huge problem when it comes to names and accreditation. University of the People is relatively new and since it is not regionally accredited it won't even give you the chance for a job interview so that you can prove yourself. You can also read plenty of great books and be an expert in something but if you cannot prove it with a diploma from a brand name it won't serve you at all. Personally, I have a Bachelor's and Masters from a traditional public university in my country (a developing country not first world one). When I came to the USA, despite 11 years of experience and good education, I was offered nothing. Conducted an experiment and changed the name of the university on my resume. I received 5 invitations from the same places I had applied earlier. It was so sad. Now I will start another Master to be able to find a job in my profession here. I do not need it but I need the piece of paper saying that I have been educated in America and I will have to spend thousands of dollars just for that piece of paper. I would love to study online at University of the People but I cannot take the risk of my future depending on employers taking a chance on me.
@@sonjaalei2806 I agree with you wholeheartedly. I think it is so sad the state of education in this country. I am attending University of the People because otherwise I wouldn't be able to maintain myself financially through 4+ years of traditional schooling, and I'd rather not just sit by and do nothing while my life passes me by. I don't define success by the amount of money I have, and as long as I feel healthy, I think I'll do alright. Personally, I think I don't want to play the games in this country, and I'll just do things my way. If that means I'll get less job offers, so be it.
Thanks, Kate for taking the time to explain to us what this school is all about. I am still struggling with attending, however with each video you make my consideration for this school gets better. Yes attending any school is what you make it. Someone if not professor will give you negative feedback. But you keep on taking classes because you must graduate. Good luck with your classes and I hope to see more videos soon!
UOTP is not worth the investment. It's a low level degree. The only employment you will get is a low wage job. NO BIG employers will take this degree serious. Their CS degree is not regionally accredited in the states and it is not ABET accredited. LOOK ELSEWHERE.
This is absolutely not true. The company I work for accepts degrees from schools that have accreditation recognized by the DoE, which UoP is. And this place is FAR from low wage. Even in a poverty stricken area.

My biggest problem with University of the People is students there sound like they're in cults when they talk about it.
The problem with peer grading is that students are not qualified to grade others. For that reason it should not be done.
Exactly. I don't even consider myself qualified enough.
