Hello everyone, I am currently a student at the University of the People. I am about to start my 3rd semester and everything at the University of the People has been amazing since day one. I have taken 3 courses so far: one of them about emotional intelligence was the best course I have taken in my entire life. I joined the University of the People the day I heard President Reshef's talk. I like the way he explains things, I like his innovative approach to education, I like his vision and his mission. I like it for its clarity and for its simplicity. I believe that education is the key to change the world, so if you have good English and you have some hours to spare per week, please read more about the University of the People, apply, and make your dreams come true. Take care and best of luck with everything you do.
+Zeina Gabriel can i still apply for UoP even if i'm already a college student since i'm not so much satisfied with the teaching style of my university?
+Jourdan Nguyen Hello Jourdan, thank you very much for your question. Of course you can. You can apply to the University of the People if you have a high school degree. You can pursue your degree in your own university and you can also follow one of the programs offered at the University of the People. It is really up to you. However, please note, that to my knowledge, credits can't be transferred from your college to the University of the People and vice versa. Best of luck. Please don't hesitate to write if you have any additional questions. Take care.

+Matyscabreras Yes, by living in the information era it is quite easy to get your hands on any form of education you choose, although a doctrine that is formed for the purpose of teaching and channeling all of that information is much easier done in school.
youngbloodx Well yes and no. If you are a student, the government actually gives you money around $600 a month for free no strings attached if you are a student, so that effectively negates the tax cost for the person. I'm still incredibly happy to pay taxes in a country where they pay for everyone's university tuition instead of military campaigns on foreign soil.
Pakanahymni Even then you're still paying for the coming generations' education in taxes for the rest of your life. And even then, there is not as much of an incentive to increase quality if schools are going to get paid no matter what. And you guys are tax payers, are still overpaying since many top notch universities post their courses online for free, and you can pay a small fee for a certificate to get jobs. My friend got sought out from Google because he took Data Science classes from MIT on EdX, and he didn't even have a college degree.

MarkNiceyard the cost is not all at once. It is 60 dollars for registration. It is 100 dollars every 9 weeks at the time of finals to cover cost. Yes there are scholarships available for the foundation courses. The foundation courses are the core curriculum.
I’m a current UoPeople student in the MEd program. This is the most enriching program I have ever participated in and I’m not accumulating more student loan debt. It takes a lot of creativity in how I spend my time studying and working full time, but it’s a compromise I’m willing to make. I’m looking forward to graduating in 2021 and giving back as an alumnus.
Thank you for choosing helping people over gathering more money for getting money's sake. I, as a student at UoPeople, as well as many others, will benefit from this and a large number already have. Thank you again and God bless everyone.
Yes everything you are talking about, I was and still am a part of this Global Village, opening the gates for higher education. I started to study with professors and we didn,t need books, we were connected with great people from all over the world. My experiences are with an other online university and I am looking forwards to this University to open this model and open through gates, we are building right now, offering a Syntony Model and framework. Becoming a portal for others to learn and to get education from a new innovational way.
This genuine OG (original gangster) truly saved and transformed my life. As a young Japanese man aspiring to pursue higher education in an English-speaking country, I was deeply moved by this video. In Nepal you can get four year college degree in Private Colleges at about the same cost. In state owned institution you can earn a 4 year degree in less than 500 dollars. This is still hard for most families to afford.
Nirab Pudasaini Yes, but what about the number of seats available at these colleges? What happens to the millions of qualified students who aren't lucky enough to get a seat?
Hello World! I am a proud UoPeople student from Pakistan. I am very moved and inspired by the noble mission and objectives of founding this university which is open for everyone regardless of racial ethnic and similar criteria that occasionally seems a disgrace to humanity. Here there are no privileged ones. I am in my 5th term. By and large professors are very dedicated and the academic resources are great at cementing concepts and for comprehension of newly taught topics. The most amazing part is the entire community of UoPeople as it makes the learning. experience interesting due to people from varied backgrounds age and culture. I hope more accreditation agencies recognise UoPeople aaprtt from DAEC. I feel empowered and new horizons are opening up for me especially due to general education courses.
I was wondering if you could contact me through my email address Hassansaas4@gmail.com or my whatsapp number +254719845555,i ve alot of questions to ask, your assistance will really be appreciated,
This is a blessing especially during hard times like now with Government shut down. Education is very important to open up opportunities for all. No One Left Behind.
Each class has 30 students. It is amazing to discuss weekly with classmates who from Adghanistan, Sudan, Liberia, United States, Japan, and South Korea while studying from the Philippines.
no I actually really support the name. That's such an odd social stigma that the title of an institution should dictate the quality of their education. UoPeople sounds like something I would be proud to be part of and would represent where I come from. A place that is for genuine knowledge and the help and care of the people, people coming together to become one and help people without the intent of greed. I know this comment was a year ago but its the first one I saw xD
The name represents and reflects their vision and mission. So, it should not be changed at all. It's not just a name its a BRAND and BRAND of the PEOPLE.
I c it as a degree just like any online degree. But with online proctor service can we use only software proctor. Not like someone watching me on webcam🤔
University of the people is the best university in the world especially for underdeveloped countries. We thank you so much for our dream of getting higher education be real. I hope governments and some funding program help you financially.
I tried attending UOP a couple of years ago, but I withdrew because I kept getting low grades on my assignments from my peers, however when I showed my work to professionals I know, they all thought my work should have gotten much higher grades. I feel like there are a lot of people reviewing assignments whose first language isn’t English, so they can’t properly review your work the way a native speaker might. It made the process extremely frustrating. I was extremely passionate about getting my education and worked very hard on my assignments, and for them to get such low grades from my peers was disappointing and really killed my morale.
So inspiring, I just signed up for UoP yesterday when I saw their ad on insta. When I signed up it turned out that there was a $60 fee and they paid for my registration😭 not only that, They provide scholarship and I got that too. I am very grateful to the University of the people. They really help people like me. Thankyou very much UoP❤️❤️😭
Really really good! It's the best way for me to persuade my dream. University of People is still my future dream to earn my degree. I'm preparing myself especially my English. Once I'm ready I'll go for it. I used to fill up the application form, but I was asked to pay the registration fee $60, I do not have any English proficiency to proof my English. The only way to pay the registration fee first then take English class (provide by UoP) If I'm not wrong. Taking the English course I have to pay another $50 even I don't pass the exam. For this reason makes me worry to go for it or wait. But I decided to wait preparing myself first when I'm ready I'll jump into it. I believe UoP will still keep my account validation until I get back.
A degree at UoP doesn't open doors to a professional career at any of the competitive institutions, nor do the courses transfer to any reputable institution. The information gathered from the courses MAY or MAY NOT be useful. Also, your classmates won't be from the most competitive schools, either. Anyone who can read and write in English is admitted. So, how good is a degree from an "internet college" like U of P really worth???
Questions for any UOP students or staff, is the bachelor degree from UOP internationally recognized? I am currently in New Zealand and are quite fascinated by this idea of affordable education in UOP.
Here in mexico school is free or pretty cheap even a private catholic university it costs around 150 uds per month and you pay if off within 3 or 4 years
The greed of the university system is finally coming back to bite it:) Just as Industrial greed = empty factories. University greed will = empty campuses. Thank you internet!
Great Idea! Someone commented that Internet costs money so the solution could be free Wi-fi or if this is not possible then Internet costs are atleast less expensive than the actual real world degree.
Dear shai, I am very pleased to hear about the goal you were trying to achieve. i have nothing against this model but btw i did my bachelors in engineering from an elite institute in India for roughly 1500 dollars tution fee (its the entire 4 years). It graduated on 2010. Even now its less than what it would cost to do courses from your institute. Universities accredited to govt of india offer such correspondence courses for much less and on many different disciplines. How is it going to help people from developing countries. It is thrice as costly, u don't have personal connections to fellow students (Thats required for developing the skills required in a job). And lastly i want to know if the professors who provide courses at your institute are paid or they do it as a social cause.
Soumya Ranjan Mishra This is great but were there enough seats to accommodate every qualified student in India to attend your elite institution? If not, what are those people's options?
i agree but you missed my point. The education may be cheaper in developed parts of the world but is almost inaccessible for people who actually need it. The pricing of the courses may be reconsidered and scaled to fit a countries need.
@@soumyasomu007 Congrats on getting your full-time degree. You've got a bright future ahead of you. Fair points made in terms of cost. As an Indian student, I've been paying the same fees for the past few years at UoPeople. Over two months of study that really amounts to $50 each. If you're paying the full fees. The university hasn't increased the fees by a cent. In my experience, the real issue is the weakness of the rupee against the dollar. I'm paying one and a half times the amount in Indian rupees now even though the price of each course remains exactly the same. I think most working adults here can easily afford Rs. 2000-3000 a month but when it starts rising above that value, cutting back becomes necessary. Realistically, I don't think the university can adjust for these altering exchange rate values as they have to pay their own bills as well. If they do, they'll have to keep dropping their fees based on the dollar-to-rupee exchange rate value. Which I think is asking for too much. Even then, I must point out that if you're having difficulties, they generally offer scholarships to students if you ask. I just received a third scholarship and must say that it's very possible for others to obtain one as well. It's true! Ultimately, I feel that comparing UoPeople to other universities purely based on cost does not do its cause justice. The Professors and the curriculum is more than decent. Still, very grateful for the assistance extended. Pleasantly surprised, so I'm leaving this "thank you" note here.
Yes , this system of Education is just beatiful and I beleive in It. Finally, one more cleaver businessman finding the best way to make internet and Technology, work to improve the life of many people around the world and change cultures for better. Well this is a no brained. I'm enrolling. Specifically because a Bachelors Degree is now the minimum education requirement to make a living wage. But also because I want to teach English abroad.
$4,000 is still higher than the cost for college in the Philippines. In fact, $4,000 is the rate for private colleges and universities in the Philippines. Average people can barely afford it. Poor people from developing countries like the Philippines can't afford it for sure. This is definitely not "tuition free". The University of the People will only apply in richer countries. Why would they charge that much for the exams? I would appreciate it if someone will share to me another website that is more affordable than this. Thank you.
It is tuition-free. For those who can't afford the modest examination processing fees, there is also financial aid available uopeople.edu/groups/financial_aid
In South America most colleges are completely free, you just have to pass a test to get in. I know for sure Argentina because I studied there and Mexico because my spanish teacher's assistant has just arrived in the USA and she has been telling us about the Mexican educational system
At least it would be a huge step forward towards tapping into humanity's potential than what most of us have experienced upto 2014. All skill training and education should be public and free. If you love useful knowledge, you will set it free. =P
So if someone graduates from The University Of The People with their Bachelors, can they apply to a graduate program at any institution such as Cornell or Harvard?
+Quron Jones different accrediting bodies. UOP is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission. It could probably transfer to other DEAC schools. Those schools asked about are regional accreditation.
isa castellanos UC Berkeley accepts transfer credits too, but they mostly focus on California residents, and it's really expensive unless you have a scholarship.
I am aware University of the People offers degrees acceptable world over and is accredited in the US! Why is the older Atlantic International University not accredited by any US accrediting body for all this long making its degrees referred to as "fake"?!
Truly impressed! University of the People (UoPeople) believes that access to higher education is a key ingredient in the promotion of world peace and global economic development. Wow, that is powerful!!
This is a wonderful goal. I have taken online classes set up like this before with Coursera and others. The problem is in having other students grade your work and limited access to professors who aren't really paid. The students who aren't proficient enough in English cannot be trusted to grade others work. And some times it takes too much time to get an admins attention when you are graded unjustly. The tests are repeated questions from quizzes and it can be completed as many times as needed till you get 100%. Accredited or not, I honestly don't think this is such a good education. True, there is no tuition, but you need about $4K to pay for the exams unless you can get a scholarship. Maybe if you live in these places then it is your only real option, but please look at other online schools that cost under $10K: like WGU, Herzing, and Peirce College.
Quizzes are for pratice and not graded. Graded quizzes can only be done once, and counts. Peer grading doesn't work and it is the only thing (very) wrong with this uni.
BUENOS DIAS , ME ENCANTA TODA ESTA AYUDA QUE DAN A PERSONAS DE POCOS RECURSOS ECONOMICOS, FELICITACIONES Y ESPERO YA ESTAR ESTUDIANDO EL INGLES QUE TANTA FALTA ME HACE MUCAS GRACIAS Y CORDIALES TARDES.
Not only higher education systems need a disruption. We also need to begin disrupting the primary (elementary) and secondary education need to, and we need to work towards an education culture, a meritocracy, and an idea and knowledge economy.
If everyone gets higher education doesn't that devalue higher education for the individual. It may benefit society as a whole, but then naturally wouldn't that create incentive for there to be an even higher level of achievement to create separation. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not saying that we are near the point of saturation, but is what I'm proposing even a reality?
Correct. Or it could make higher education worthless where people focus instead on acquiring useful skills instead of costly and time-consuming institutional stamps of approval.
This is not a walk in the park. Double the work from my previous uni. Also, what he doesn't mention is that you have to pass at least 2 foundation courses to be accepted as a degree seeking student.
its a good chance for people from developing countries but i dont believe it could replace face-to-face education. The best way to make education affordable for all people is to make it free. In many european countries its already free but US (and many more developed countries) wants to make money even on its own citizens' education
I'm already employed so I can't speak to this personally, BUT I will say most of my classmates in the MBA program seem to either already be employed or be right on track to find something. Basically, the MBA students are largely management at organizations in other countries. I'd say 1/5 are Americans or US-based. I feel like I'm the only one who's not in investment banking, engineering or working as a doctor somewhere. The students are smart and ambitious. My only "advantage" is having English as a first language--otherwise I feel like my classmates are significantly better qualified than I am, and it makes the program kind of tough. Not a bad thing I suppose.

Good idea, but I'd say 4000 $ is still far from ultra-low-cost for people in poor countries.
MarkNiceyard I'll take bachelor's for 4k to 6k than 40,000 or 60,000 though.
yup. i got biocehm degree and jobs but i got a 40k price tag :) oh my lord
they have scholarships
Fees add up to 4,000 a year or total over 120 credits?
MarkNiceyard the cost is not all at once. It is 60 dollars for registration. It is 100 dollars every 9 weeks at the time of finals to cover cost. Yes there are scholarships available for the foundation courses. The foundation courses are the core curriculum.
Really great idea. Thank you for actually thinking up something that can uplift people instead of just being patronising.
Hi Michelle, did you graduate? Was it virtual or physical?
Thank you to all UoPeople volunteers!
I'm enlisting right now for bussiness administration wish me luck

Good luck Juan. When would you be joining us at the Univeristy of the People? Take care.
+Zeina Gabriel zeina is the ged accepted if I want to enroll ?
how is it going so far ?
any honest reviews ?
What's up? Worth enrolling?
Siempre me he sentido orgullosa de la educación que he tenido en mi país, donde la universidad es COMPLETAMENTE GRATUITA pero ahora que veo los precios de estudio en Estados Unidos, me siento aún más feliz del sistema de educación de mi país.

This is a great opportunity for many people over the world. Thank you Uopeople!
I am the student at UoPeople it is the best educational environment to be professional in your field. Thanks UoPeople
GREAT MAN, GREAT CONTRIBUTION .So many people have money but so few come up with something so great to create and leave behind.. THANK YOU!.
I just started my first day of school at University of the People!
I like this model and fully support it. This sounds like progress to me. Come on universities from all over the world, let's make this happen!!!!
They takes 120$ per exame it's still costly
Thank you for choosing helping people over gathering more money for getting money's sake. I, as a student at UoPeople, as well as many others, will benefit from this and a large number already have. Thank you again and God bless everyone.
It is the right step in the right direction. Commercialization of education should be checked. Great job UoP...
It's great and noble initiative. It will help to spread knowledge all over the world. Thank you for such bold arrangement for online education.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to this expert and show my utmost dedication to following in his footsteps
Do they have distance program I can go on😉
Hello World!
Hello hie have u completed yet
I was wondering if you could contact me through my email address Hassansaas4@gmail.com or my whatsapp number +254719845555,i ve alot of questions to ask, your assistance will really be appreciated,
This is a blessing especially during hard times like now with Government shut down. Education is very important to open up opportunities for all. No One Left Behind.
This IS the change we need! God Bless This man.
this is so commendable.. I encourage everyone to support the ideals of this project!!!
Thanks for being there uopeople. I am so happy i found your institution. I can now accomplish my long life goals
Each class has 30 students. It is amazing to discuss weekly with classmates who from Adghanistan, Sudan, Liberia, United States, Japan, and South Korea while studying from the Philippines.
They should change that name.
Who agree with me?
no I actually really support the name.
Not like someone watching me on webcam🤔
to "Universal University"
Agree completely! They need to get rid of grading by peers if they are charging anything. This is what will make me quit as well.
University of the people is one of the most successful University in modern time.
Shai Reshef is a visionary : every state or nation in the world needs to open such an institution for the larger benefit of its citizens.
That's AMAZING!!!!! Love this. Finally someone solving some worth while global problem.
How has it been so far?
I got my full financial aids from the university of the people. thank you Shai Rashif for this development.
can you tell me how did you apply for the aid?
@@muhammadahmaad833 just go through the application process. There will be an option for that.
Brilliant, we need more awareness in Africa.
It's true, it really works that way, I am learning and very pleased
Questions for any UOP students or staff, is the bachelor degree from UOP internationally recognized? I am currently in New Zealand and are quite fascinated by this idea of affordable education in UOP.
It's nationally accredited but would soon be regionally accredited
He sounds like king Julian from Madagasgar
Lol no its a childrens movie called madigasgar and there is a lemar king named julian and he sound just like the guy speaking

I'm so proud to be a UoPeople student
How much do you pay for it?
Hie is it real?
Hello Dear. Do you speak french? I'm about to start now
and i reall need to be in contact with somebody to help me Please
@@Historia-e-revelacao you can check everything on their website.
Here in mexico school is free or pretty cheap even a private catholic university it costs around 150 uds per month and you pay if off within 3 or 4 years
University of the People is university of my dream! Thank you so much!
Uopeople is a dream come through
The greed of the university system is finally coming back to bite it:) Just as Industrial greed = empty factories. University greed will = empty campuses. Thank you internet!
All Education should be for Free. $15 per lesson Max.
The university of the People is the best. Thank you sir.
we need more ppl like this man (bow to him)
Thanks for your words of encouraging and supports to international students are financially constraint.
Great Idea!
Someone commented that Internet costs money so the solution could be free Wi-fi or if this is not possible then Internet costs are atleast less expensive than the actual real world degree.
Thanks a lot for everything!
Dear shai,
I am very pleased to hear about the goal you were trying to achieve.
i have nothing against this model but btw i did my bachelors in engineering from an elite institute in India for roughly 1500 dollars tution fee (its the entire 4 years).

Muy bono, I have been doing coursera for a while and we all have different goals, this is great for those who share the same goal.
I like it, no body will be left behind for financial reasons.
Yes , this system of Education is just beatiful and I beleive in It. Finally, one more cleaver businessman finding the best way to make internet and Technology, work to improve the life of many people around the world and change cultures for better. I plan to do at least a master with them. This Kind of work regarding to improve education throught Technologies must always be so reconized because develop new Technologies must always be directed to make humans Life easier. Kind regards, Patrícia Pires e Albuquerque Castello Branco
100$ per exam. It is not affordable price for all people in the world. I hope the price less than 100$ to 15$ for help poor countries. thanks.
There is financial aid available.
How can I get financial aid?
zinor kclub See uopeople.edu/groups/financial_aid
There are scholarships too
Are also pursuing a course ?
Well this is a no brained. I'm enrolling. Specifically because a Bachelors Degree is now the minimum education requirement to make a living wage. But also because I want to teach English abroad.
Are you currently enrolled. I'm very interested.
For those who can't afford the modest examination processing fees, there is also financial aid available uopeople.edu/groups/financial_aid
it is 4000 for 4 years meaning till graduation.
In South America most colleges are completely free, you just have to pass a test to get in. I know for sure Argentina because I studied there and Mexico because my spanish teacher's assistant has just arrived in the USA and she has been telling us about the Mexican educational system
and 3 percent of south america has wifi.- and power.
At least it would be a huge step forward towards tapping into humanity's potential than what most of us have experienced upto 2014. All skill training and education should be public and free. If you love useful knowledge, you will set it free. =P
Hello everyone, I am currently a student at the University
Pros and cons?
So if someone graduates from The University Of The People with their Bachelors, can they apply to a graduate program at any institution such as Cornell or Harvard?
+Quron Jones different accrediting bodies. UOP is accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission. It could probably transfer to other DEAC schools. Those schools asked about are regional accreditation.
Is UOP internationally recognize. Will I be able to study for my masters in other recognize Univeristies.
Nice question, I know a few universities in NJ which accepts transfer credits from UoPeople:
William Paterson
MontClair State University
Shehryar Aziz are those the only ones you know?
isa castellanos UC Berkeley accepts transfer credits too, but they mostly focus on California residents, and it's really expensive unless you have a scholarship.
I am aware University of the People offers degrees acceptable world over and is accredited in the US! Why is the older Atlantic International University not accredited by any US accrediting body for all this long making its degrees referred to as "fake"?!
The first thing about starting a university is picking an appropriate name. I think based on that one criteria University of the People fails badly.
Truly impressed! University of the People (UoPeople) believes that access to higher education is a key ingredient in the promotion of world peace and global economic development. Wow, that is powerful!!
Inspired!
This is so amazing
May God bless this great human being!
BUENOS DIAS , ME ENCANTA TODA ESTA AYUDA QUE DAN A PERSONAS DE POCOS RECURSOS ECONOMICOS, FELICITACIONES Y ESPERO YA ESTAR ESTUDIANDO EL INGLES QUE TANTA FALTA ME HACE
MUCAS GRACIAS Y CORDIALES TARDES.
I went to WGU. My degree(s) had a nominal cost.
WGU is a good school and the student has control over how much their degree cost. I got a MS at WGU. It is also regionally accredited and non-profit.
The problem is whether the degree will be acknowledged by other universities or companies? If yes, University of the People is a great choice.
Any uofpeople graduates here that can testify success of hire after the degree?? And was it hard to get the job??
Aaaaaand three years after your comment , not a peep...
@@Mrbrainiac Never saw any graduate from this uni, wth?!??
I am currently a student at University of the People. I chose to build a home for my family and was ready to give up on higher education and just like magic - UoPeople to the rescue! I like being to pay as I go. Still a challenge but a sacrifice I am willing to make.
I'm glad that here in Brazil we also have free universities.
Mas não para todos.
thanks. Mr.Reshef these vedio is a very nice actually.
