    It's easy to recommend the painting with alpha height maps, but you still have to MAKE those alpha's, and they are usually made by actually making a high-res 3d model and then baking it into a height map to be used to stamp onto the model. So either way you're still doing high poly modelling. Unless you buy an asset pack with tons of these height map alphas that just happen to match exactly what you need for your own project.

      What I do is create those height maps in Substance Designer.

    Good overview, but the sound quality is unfortunately subpar.
