I really dig the vibe of this music. There's something about this style. The notes are ringing at a furious pace, but because they harmonize and because they're fingerpicked, they feel smooth. There's something about that dissonance that I really love.
Or how about you got back to high school English class and realize "dissonance" was figurative language to express the tension between fast playing (which is often sloppy and unharmonious) and her smooth melodies (which often don't, in my mind, achieve this level of nuance or depth).
lol that's fine and dandy but you used the words harmonize and dissonance in the same paragraph. You might use this in your "high school english class" to describe something that clashes………like two notes that are inharmonious. That is the definition of dissonance when referring to music. Look it up.
Great stuff. I think i'm getting hooked to her music. The repetitive lines, which would normally bore me, has almost a hypnotic feel that sets up nicely for the cool lick change, like u can't enjoy the sweet without the salty in the combination. It goes perfect together.
+yumadapaka I expect they will be touring the US and selling CDs like crack pretty soon. Not only is Yvette a good guitar player, but she can write outside of the box so to speak too.
I always knew of her, but never realized what a phenomenal guitar-player she was. She is always - so Impressive. Her playing is on another level. Really enjoying her musical performances & interviews.
Covet and Yvette Young just came to play a gig in Houston yesterday afternoon, and thier performance was truly inspirational. I was an instant fan. I probably won't stop talking about them for a while.
She is incredibly musical, it's never just for the sake of technique. And i love her warm guitar tone. She just popped up on my youtube recomendations & i'm blown away.
the beautiful warm bass tones and clever drum work really really works to bring forth the simple clarity and harmonic beauty of Yvette's guitar. simply lovely.
There's a hypnotic way about her playing that really draws you in and makes you want to relax and enjoy it. It's not too technical to be unapproachable, for one. Good job on her end!
I truly appreciate your playing style and abilities! I love all of the smooth time signature changes and the clean, forceful bass tones of that low B string. Great guitar too, thanks for playing!
This reminds me of Beer Commercials-era Minus The Bear. I assume it's because of the math-y sound her playing has as that band also began as a math rock/indie rock band. Also, since I associate colors with sounds, letters, and numbers, this whole song was blue throughout, and it made me calm to where I felt like going to sleep. That's not a knock on her playing in any way but I just mean that the song itself is chill and soothing. It put me in an easy mood. Glad to see more people of color and women being represented on this channel for a change btw. Speaking of people of color, you guys should totally bring back Prashant. I really enjoyed the "episodes" he played for the channel as well.
First off: love the music, this is the most beautiful music in the world to me. I love the growl of the bass notes -- it almost sounds like two performances. Have you ever tried to negotiate a two-part invention?
I've got your ep know and look forward to more. you found a place in my heart were my brain is satisfied. robert fripp sits there as well as you. a beautiful scale master with rhythm .
+Derek Charette he said favorite. What do you know about what those songs ment to him. Nobody is shitting on your favorite guitarist. He didnt say " the best".
+Derek Charette Whoah hey dude. That's a little mean. I mean I don't like Pantera that much but Dimebag could solo the pants off of pretty much anybody.
SO EMG when are you going too get Raven Kyle from The Plagued Raven to come in for a playthrough? He heavily endorsed your products, is consistently getting endorsements from several other guitar companies, and it seems the only thing he's not endorsed by is the thing he used most. Maybe show him a little love?

+Queequeg Totes agree, takes me to another place entirely. Im in love! :D
I think you should look up the meaning of dissonance. I don't think it means what you think it means.

it's a Mathrock style - which uses metal-esque picking techniques mixed with open tuning, clean amplification, and jazz chords. Shit's pretty tight

hahaha true

I love Yvette she's such an awesome musician!

repetition, especially in music, is known to be hypnotic ... so this makes sense...

Wow, this song is amazing. I have never heard of this band at all! So talented.
I believe it's one woman
Not quite. She says she wrote all the guitar parts, which the drummer and bassist later added to :]
Thanks
Her band is called Covet. She has her solo material but it's acoustic stuff (which is also excellent stuff)
Truly Stunning! All of it! The girl, the instrument, the composition, the playing!!!

I have tone, grapheme-color synesthesia and this other thing where smells have color? Idk.
represent someone because of the quality of their music, not their gender or race.
All I keep focusing on is that gorgeous tone from the bass :3 Everything's great all around :>
