This guy is just determined to keep her from listing the tuning for each string.

What a pleasure and what an inspiration! Amazing interview, thank you 😊 I hope one day I'm half that good 😂

She’s so right about the shredder culture. It’s like admiring a writer for how many words or pages they wrote. Misses the point completely. Eddie Van Halen, though a shredder type, wrote awesome music and guitar riffs with groove and rhythm. He was in tune with being a musician first.

I would say the endless regurgitation of 'blues/blues-rock' licks is more pervasive.

    • @JohnEZang

77Fortran definitely don’t disagree there. If you scan Instagram it’s a bunch of shredders and generic blues rockers. Thanks Joe Bonamossa (The Kenny G of blues rock).

@@JohnEZang Textbook shredders and generic blues rockers were 90% of guitar and accessories customers in my younger years working at a Guitar Center. They were affectionately referred to as wankers. Testing a guitar, effect and/or amp for more than a minute or so was called wanking. It was insufferable. Glad to know little has changed.

Eddie was a writer at heart but also an innovator. Song intros like for women in love and Top Jimmy were a huge part of his style. He used harmonics for song intros and for stylish flourishes to end a song like for Spanish Fly. Yvette not only expands on that stuff but actually created a new style imo. I thought guitar playing was exhausted until I got into her music. Outstanding.

Excellent interview. Yvette Young is clearly a musician first and a guitar player second, which is how it should be.

Love the YY10 signature model. They are on preorder now but I think im gonna get a used Talman for my niece since the signature model is $1099 and used Talmans are only like $299.

I got my talman for free made in korea from my sister who hated it. Decent guitar, nothing to make a huge fuss over unless you enjoy the body style.

Apparently it is the F above the low E standard. I think that's what you meant. It's not a lower F below the normal low E string.

Apparently there are these crazy hand-wound cables that will take that ridiculous hum away. I'm sure she could get some for free. Keep your tone but 60 cycle noise be gone 🤘😁🤙

@user-zv7lm8uk7h yeah that must be why she's getting paid to play music while the real guitar experts are here commenting on her interviews pro bono.
