I think party chat being added in DQ II is a good call, I can see them adding that feature

What I'd personally like to see: Better fast-travel (choose which town you've already visited to fast-travel to), a map, all locations from Alefgard present in Dragon Quest II (would be interesting to see what they do with Hauksness in DQ2), Draconian mode should be the NES difficulty, the remember spells from DQ3, and Please take as many cues as possible from the GBC versions, as I feel those are the best versions of these two games. Also, party-chat in DQ2 yes! Otherwise, I'd prefer if they kept them relatively faithful... I don't mind if they redesign dungeons, or add more optional locations, but let us still figure stuff out on our own, at our own pace, like, don't make the experience any more guided... Basically, don't dumb it down.

Also Princess Gwaelin needs to be Sage class and having the lore telling us that Gwaelin becoming a sage the first time since the legendary Sage in DQIII or Serenica from XI. Speaking of XI they need to incorporate bits of lore from XI since it is the first game chronologically like having to find tomes of the Luminary and having to fight Calasmos or hell maybe even Mordegon as an evil presence.
If DQI has a post game chapter, they need to copy a bit of DQV were Gwaelin is basically pregnant the whole journey or there’s a significant time skip between the OG ending of DQI to the post game were Alef and Gwaelin are now parents of 12 year old kid/s. They can also work as party members like in V. The possibilities are endless!

I actually like the idea of Princess Gwaelin being a playable character in a postgame scenario where Hero goes and founds the kingdoms. I mean the Princess of Moonbrooke had to get her start somewhere.

A lot of your suggestions already exist in the modern versions of DQI-III. Exp has been significantly buffed, and that alone makes it much less grindy.

Main things I want to see:
DQ1- Nothing. Just touch up the combat, make things look nice and maybe flesh out the story a little but overall I think DQ1 benefits from it's simplicity. It doesn't need a bunch of new parts or big improvements just added polish to match it with the the other two remakes. My biggest hope with DQ1 is they don't over design it simply to try and make it more complex.
Though I won't lie what you mentioned about following the DQ1 Hero and Gwaelin around as the found their kingdom for a DQ1 post game would be amazing. Might be a bit out of the scope for what is already an extensive project remaking three games but we can dream. I would love to see Gwaelin get expanded beyond just being the princess the hero marries and actually get some characterization.
DQ2- Party chat, give Cannock and Moonbrooke some actual personality and character. Also for the love of everything re-balance the Cave to Rhone. Also maybe a pie in the sky hope but I'd love to see them actually have the full map of DQ1 in DQ2. Not the scaled down version missing most of the locations but an actual 1:1 version to make it feel like you are in an expanded version of the world.
Also as an fun added bonus it would be neat if they included the original versions with the game. Maybe just a quick port of the SNES versions of 1-3 just as a fun inclusion.

I want DQ1 to have it's original NES difficulty. All the future versions are painfully easy and having Agility determine turn order in 1v1 combat makes doing low level combat prohibitive. I can kill Axe Knight in the original at 14 if I have Broad Sword, Magic Armor, and Iron Shield, and bring 6 Herbs. I can't do that in the remakes because he always goes first (and that means he can SLEEP you before you get a chance to do anything, even if he doesn't get a surprise round on you). Just take out Agility turn order in 1v1 combat and leave NES difficulty. It would be nice to have SOME new things in the original.
DQ2, i like the SNES remake better. If because the Prince/Princess aren't just the Hero's sidekicks, and especially liked the fact that you have more viable tactical options against the Rhone Valley enemies (Stopspell vs. Gold Batboon and Defeat vs. Blizzard), because I Prince/Princess were glorified Healbots and Hero was just MVP the whole game, and it showed during the final boss in the NES. THE SFC version made both of them more relevant esp. during the final boss, because Increase/Decrease war being fought.
Also the gamebook including the Dragonlords Grandson as a playable (sort of) character. If you wipe in the Lighthouse, he sacrifices his human form to save you and flies you around. Would be badass to see Dragonlords kid flying the Luminaries everywhere.

I'd like to see the games remain pretty faithful, especially DQ1. These games aren't DQ3; they're really very small, so I think they'd feel distorted beyond recognition if too much all-new content was added. But if they were gonna add one big change... I'd want the new Dragonlord as the fourth and final party member in DQ2. That's something I've wanted to see since playing the original on my NES back in 1990. I'd give him spells like Sizz/Blaze and Crackle/Icebolt that didn't originally appear in DQ2, and the Poof/BeDragon spell would be his ultimate. I'd also give him oddball abilities like Whistle, Appraise, Dig, Smell Treasure, etc. And for weapons... wands plus weird stuff like fans, the giant shears, the abacus, etc. Great magic user, but no healing, low defense like Moonbrooke, but higher attack power like Cannock.

I saw that Yuji Horii insisted we play III then I and II. Perhaps there’s a secret ending in mind if we clear both I and II and our console has clear game save data of III. I mean, the collector’s edition of III has a space in its case made for I & II HD-2D whenever that arrives next year. But yeah, special abilities for the Prince of Midenhall would be great to have on him. They could do something like that if they bring him to DQ Tact in a True II Event.

I would like for the DQ2 hero to have most of the abilities of DQ11's last party member. Skills like forbearance would be very helpful in keeping a certain glass canon alive. All in all, i want the DQ2 hero to be both a great P.attacker and defender

the only problem with Forbearance is without a job class like any of the metal slime types to pretty much be iMMUNE to physical/spell damage that skill is crap using it would only cause its DQ2 user to pretty much not last for even 1 turn.
That's why even in DQ7 I only used it WITH The Platinum Jewel Slime monster class mastered first DQ2 won't HAVE a way to make its user immune to all enemy damage.

The same as DQ3's but with a EASIER CAVE TO Rhone dungeon ie the NO RANDOM encounters DQ2 cheat to not have to deal with the enemies full party monsters instant kill spell which even on a EASY mode difficulty would likely still have NEVER miss completely the best way around that put a no encounters cheat INTO the game.
DQ is also a LOT harder for knowing WHERE to go so the quest markers the DQ3 remake is going to have on the World map is a MUST For the 2nd game and yes all 3 games NEED the Zoom/Return to towns spell to still WORK in Caves/dungeons as well.
Heck if DQ7 EVER gets the treatment I'd love to have ITS ZOOM spell work in the PAST area's so that you could still warp to the PRESENT day ones similar to DQ6's DS version of the same spell by having SWITCH worlds option.

These games need only 2 things.
Quest markers so ya actually know where tf to go, and sword skills for DQ2 Hero since all he's ever been able to do are basic attacks.

I want to able to transform the princess into human form easier getting the mirror is the easy part that isn't what I'm talking about what I'm talking about is once you get back to town you have to be facing the dog in order to use the mirror and trying to get into a spot where you can face the dog and not have the dog follow you as a third member of the party is a pain in the butt

While I understand the main character of DQ1 is supposed to be a stand-in for the person playing, I would like to see a little backstory added in. Where did he come from? How did he wind up in front of the king? How does he know he's the descendant of Erdrick?

@@veghesther3204 This is being misreported as they've already showed off the new sprites of both the male and female versions of the hero.

But IN game its listed as Look A (Male) Look B (female) for all party members and not just the Hero him/herself.
