I can't really find people talking about this. I just spent a ton of time grinding up money for the magic armor so I could heal when I walk... and..... nothing? Magic Armor doesn't work in this version? Townspeople mentioned it. Edit: ok... seems like it very slowly regens your MP instead. hmm.. not sure if that's actually better or not. MP regen is powerful, for sure.
I wanted to like this as DQ is one of my favorite series, but there was so much I didn't like. I felt like the whole DQ3 intro bit doesn't belong in DQ1, it was pretty jarring. The new shop system felt clunky, I kept fighting with muscle memory from other DQ games and it felt slow. i just wanted to buy a club. And then battle is also weird with no battle dialogue. I don't know if I'd get used to it, but I initally could not tell whose turn it was or who was damaging who. Not great, I feel like it needs work.
there are only two things I don't like about what I'm seeing: hero is a reskinned DQ3(SFC) hero instead of resembling the proper helmeted DQ1 hero. I also can't tell if his sprite updates as you get sword and shield like the US NES version, but this wasn't in the SFC version of DQ1+2 either I don't quite like how it handles rixels that's it, looking forward to playing it
@@HDHaZmY I don't want to nitpick but will the damage box be clear instead of a black box. Also I get why the Hero has Blonde hair like Hero 3 because I played and beat almost all of the main series except DQX-DQXII. I won't spoil DQIII however I hope the only differences is when you ride the ship and explore because that would be cool. However I am not sure how faithful this one is and I do question except the graphics look really good and the Sprites being moving like the DS games feels amazing. So I might have to come back to it and see if there's some changes. This is just imo by the way.

There are in-game options to give you retro Pixels and graphics through F5
Your other concerns are also addressed in game ^^
