    In this video I'll be covering a attacking & backflip animation for the small game I'm a character artist for. I think that more intensive animations like this are especially difficult to do on Blockbench due to how bare bones the animation system is. It doesn't have features to streamline this process that other software like Blender has.

    It's some really impressive work. It is indeed the first time I see an animation this complex in blockbench. Those smear frames are a really nice touch!

    Damn you created smear frames in block bench. I have never seen anyone ever do this-
    Like woah thats epic. When you use the swooshys how do ypu get rid of them and bring them back?. Do you hide it inaide the charater ooor? Also this looks so intense-

      Thanks a lot big guy. I use scaling in the timeline to bring the "swooshies" in and out of the animation. I just set the scale to 0 on all axis for other animations. If you are using a format that doesn't allow for scaling, I'd recomend manually placing the "swooshy" below the model so it clips into the ground and isn't visible in game, or set it's possition to like 999999999999 so it can't be seen. Doing the later option may be a preformance issue though because the engine will have to deal with that big number.

    cools smears and good job, I wish Blockbench had better import tools to get these animations in Godot or Unreal.
    I love animating in Blockbench

      I have been able to use animations like these to import into Godot! You are unable to affect scale in animations used for Godot though.

    i remember blockbench model can be imported in mine-imator, maybe try animate in mine-imator for easier animating progress? (it’s a minecraft animation software btw)

    looking at the site for the game, i´d never think this is how it would look like, i´d expect something more like my work is not yet done

      The game is supposed to take on a bit of a lighter tone than initially planned I think, but I still don't think this character paints the full picture of what it will look like.

    Can it be imported and used in UnityEngine?

    How hard is it to make a true first-person model/rig in blockbench?

    wait does blockbench not have joints? Mad impressive you were able to animate so well without controls of any kind!

    • @racewizard
      @racewizard  4 месяца назад +1

      Nope, no joints really, just groupings of meshes.

      block bench is a great for animation but when it comes yo complex animations like these the lack of joins straight up turns it from fun to not as fun

      I could also upload the model to blender or use any other animating software, but I wanted to animate in Blockbench.
