I get pinch harmonics about once a year, by accident.
This dude nails it perfectly, first time, every time.
Turn on your distortion or turn your gain up to 9-10. Position your thumb as close to the edge of the pick. And pick on like the d string
Once you figure out where about on the string you need to hit your fingers and with a bit of practice you can get it down pretty quick
Where's your progress at now bro? New strings and what pickups/amp makes a difference too
@@nicholaszartuche2420 honestly, still struggling. I get *how* to do it, but im not consistently getting it.
I try by using the meaty side of my thumb to brush the string immediately after picking it. This seems to work, but where I pick seems to have a big impact too, and the correct spot seems to change depending on the note im trying to squeal...
Im using and ESP eii eclipse with active pickups, EB cobalt strings, and a boss katana amp.
@@xjunkxyrdxdog89 sounds like a good set up to me lol keep persistence. It's easiest on the 3 5 and 7 but it's possible anywhere harmonics on the thicker strings are hard too. I try to play an easy shape and pinch every note for practice

This guy has dedicated hours and hours to this song, and for good reasons, now pinch harmonics aren't shit to him, and he can play this masterpiece all the way through, the solo was perfect, like recording label perfect.
I go back here every now and then. Never gets tired of this cover from 12 years ago.
Best cover on RUclips!!!! I still remember getting the call from a girl I knew who lived close to the club who had friends there at the show. I balled my eyes out when she told me the news. I was living in MA at the time and Dime and Vinnie were best friends with Mistress Carrie at WAAF and would always step up, call in to the radio station and donate to the Boston Food Bank during the holidays to help needy families. Even people who were not Pantera fans that listened to the radio station, had a lot of respect for them because they were good people who actually cared to help other out who were down and out. I live in Texas now and gotta still take the road trip to pay my respects. RIP Dime.

I'll never forget when I was 15 my friend told me that Dime was in a black out when he recorded this solo on a 4-track and woke up and listened to it and put it exactly as is onto the album. That blew me away.

pinch harmonics, look it up on you tube mate , plenty of tutorials 🖒
to make that sound downstroke a string with your pick and the tip of your thumb at the same time.
as he said they're call pinch harmonics, but they are different according to what part of the string you're picking and obviously your left hand as well.

oh.. sorry.... i also love that tone but i don't know how to reach it, maybe bridge pickup, lots of gain, and equalization. I can see that the neck pickup is a humbucker but i don't think that he's using it in the distortion.... and the bridge pickup idk if he has a p90 or humbucker, neither which could it be.
i took my old amp (washburn BD30) and with very low mids, and very high treble, bass and obviously gain, it sounds almost the same. With a reverb pedal and a tremolo bar it would be awesome.

i actually just bought the dean bbolt f which is a signature dime guitar and was used in the walk video I am very pleased with it. however I looked for the washburn model and didn't find any lightning 333 so im a little confused as to where this guy got his guitar

Great cover :) although that tone isn't really in my taste. Dime's sound seemed to be more clean, thus more likable and here, hmm... it's sounds like one of those practice amps with bad speakers and some dist. pedal plugged in. Still, great technic and feeling, man :). Keep on rocking \m/

great, the execution is excellent, but your distortion is creepy! too much noize! it kills the sound of the seymour duncan pickups and your washburn guitar, making you appear to be playing with a Chinese $50 guitar, and terrible pickups...
