Thanks for the video. I have been looking at the Sierra AT4. After watching this and researching all the other issues with this infotainment center, thinking twice now. For the money spent on this truck, issues like this should not be a regular occurrence. I did find there is a class action lawsuit against GMC/GM for this problem. And regardless of the dumb comments, it still ‘good’ to see the problems in real time so we can relate.

I have a 2023 Canyon at4x & at least half of them weren't seated & a couple were almost falling out. I wasn't having gremlins yet either, 4500 mi so far. Post here what you find too. We're our own best advocates. Thanks for your videos Jr's.
It’s only happened to me this morning and once before. Both after restarting after leaving a convenience store. Just let the truck power down completely. Simply turning off and back on won’t do anything. When the screen in the gauge goes black it’s ready to start up. Technology occasionally has these issues no matter how great it is. Sometimes computers just get stuck, and need a reboot.
Have fun, I've had many issues with my 2019 Sierra radio and touch screen. The dealership doesn't do anything about it either, had it into the dealer several times.
I just got a 2020 gmc sierra with about 3k miles on it and when I remotely start it and get in to press the break and push the button to start it the radio screen stays off only wen I put it on reverse it switches to the back up camera other than that it won't work unless I turn the truck completely off and on again I don't know if thats the beginning of that same problem or just something else's if anyone knows leave a comment...thank you
Same thing happened to me today (11/1/22) in my 2020 Silverado. Actually, yesterday, although it was lit, I could not move it to phone, radio, etc. Today, it went blank and I could not get it to work. I hit the dash like you, yet nothing happened. On the way to my destination, I called my chevy dealer up and spoke with service. I explained what happened. He stated that it sounded like a "power bar(??)" issue which would cost anywhere between $300-$1000. At my destination, I shut the truck off and went into a store. When I came back out 20 minutes later, I started my truck, the display lit up and the music started playing. Phone worked as well.
If this happens to anyone that still hasn’t figured it out try opening the side fuse box on passenger side and try dusting it off and cleaning it it worked for me after trying literally everything
Was it cold out side while this happened? Mine is a 2020 elevation as well I cranked it to leave work run the heat and nothing in the summer time driving to Florida my screen froze well basically wouldn’t let me touch anything but showed everything I had the phone plug in and camera on tailgate already replaced in 2021 it’s crazy the price for these trucks and what messes up
I have a 2020 elevation with the 2.7 exact same truck as you, this happened to me too, I can’t wait till you make the check engine light video when your oil gauge starts dancing back and fourth and you find out it’s because it’s lost 3 quarts of oil and it’s burning oil like crazy! I have 7800 miles on mine and I just took it back for the second time for a engine tear down!! I love this truck but we were Sold some lemons.
I have been Fighting with this since I bought my truck 2019 GMC Canyon. I took it to the dealership they had it for a week. 2 Days later it did the same thing. Now I'm out of warranty. And they did not fix it. I called Corporate and I was working with them on it. Now today they told me they can't help me and to take it up with the Dealership. Oh my God what do I do now. This really stinks!
same problem on my 2022 gmc sierra at4 the screen went out while i’m driving until drove back home same thing the screen out. i checked in the morning i start it the vehicle the screen working in a few seconds went out again. i keep it the key in my drawer then i use the spare key the screen is working till now no problem
Hey there’s a class action lawsuit for this right now and it’s any gm vehicle with the informant system, my 2020 Buick envision is doing this will be contracting the dealership to get it fixed but shame on gm this should not ever be a issue on a new car / poor quality control
How can I find out about this lawsuit? I took my truck into the dealership for this problem this past Wednesday and they kept it for 3 days. Their guys could not figure out what happened even though I had shown the service guy everything I found on the internet, including the code and print out from my mechanic and my personal video of the black screen but the audio was still on. He tried telling me maybe rats got to it. I said BS and plus your mechanic's also cleared this code before you guys put this truck out on the used car lot and I know how computer's work they store their data in these newer vehicles. My father in-law is a mechanic. I'm going to keep brining my truck into the dealership and hopefully start a lemon law.
Exact same thing happened to me. Shut off engine and went in store for 10 minutes. When I came out, everything worked again, radio and backup camera. Did nothing e kept shut off engine for 10 minutes. Thanks.
These screens are pretty easy to change....but they are not plug and play so what really sucks is replacing this thing requires going to the Stealership
@@peterlivingston6512 it did it just the one time. When I got back in the truck about an hour later, it worked. The dealership said it was probably updating. I've had no issues since then. Just thought I would add mine. 2020 1500.....45,500 miles....happen 1st time today when I got in my truck this morning. 62 degrees/humid if it matters. Started truck, screen was blank, but audio was there.....could hear my phone through the speakers..and android auto on my phone said it was ready to used. Same thing! Except 2021 2500 slt and its been back 5 times for multiple problems including this. Dealership keeps saying oh its just an error its a gm thing...so mad
Happening now in my ‘21 Acadia. I called the dealership and they were already closed for the day. Not set to open again till Monday. It’s currently Saturday afternoon. I’m hoping when I have to leave again in about an hour it’ll be up and running again. But how crazy that this is happening to everyone
2021 rst 1500. Has been happening to me since I bought the truck. 12k on it now and it’s been off for a month. Dealer said it needs a new radio however they’re on national backorder with no eta. Think I’ll be trading this hunk of junk in unfortunately.
Just happened on my 2020 Silverado, terrible they haven’t fixed this. It’s clearly a known issue and still happening on the 2021s from what I’m reading
My 20 at4 sierra started doing the same thing 2 weeks ago, it's worse in the morning. My screen never comes on in the morning but after work it's all good.
My 2 mo old 2022 Silverado did this too. In to the shop I guess. Yes, it came back on after shutting the truck off for about 10 min and restarting. (1467 miles on it)
This has been happening to me for over 6 months now. I have been to the dealership 12 times and it usually comes back on before I get there. Yesterday I finally made it while the issue was still happening. Its a 2020 silverado 1500.

Except for Toyotas ridiculous prices... stupid expensive for a truck with a really thin body. Get in a tundra or Tacoma and close the door. Remember the feel. Then get into a Chev Ford or Dodge and do the same. You will feel a huge difference. The American made vehicles sound solid and close well. The Toyota feel live you've close the door of a 1997 Honda civic. Nice looking trucks with good drive terrain, don't get me wrong, but the body and trim quality is sub par and you'll pay out the ass for it.
under and behind the glove box their is a blue connector. if this happends again unplug and replug back in. might be your issue is that blue coax cable connection
Seems like all GMs with these touch screen have this problem….2021 GMC Acadia had this issue going on 5 months now, been to the dealership 6 times, replaced the screen drove it for 10 min goes blank, they ordered me a new harness and hopefully it fixes they issue! And they wonder why people go with foreign cars!
The last GM product I bought was a new 1999 Cadillac Eldorado. $43,000 the most expensive car I ever bought and it was the biggest pile of shit I ever owned. Tons of electrical problems in the shop at least three or four times per year. General motors is garbage. All they want is your money then it’s so long. See ya wouldn’t want to be ya
This happens to me all the time, but usually half of the screen goes black and the other half just looks like the icons are smeared. It also wont bluetooth to my phone when this happens. 2019 Silverado Z71. I've already had idler pulley and belts replace. Check engine light is on right now throwing an evap code. Transmission shifts hard sometimes. Always been a Chevy man until I got this piece of junk. Next truck will be a Tundra
I have a 2019 GM Sierra and the infotainment system is garbage. Can't look at a menu without the radio on. The radio turns on when I start the truck sometimes (was off when I shut the truck off) Dealer says that's normal. I miss my Honda.
I have the same problem. Replaced the battery. No luck. Took it to the dealership. Told me they would have to reprogram it. Sat there for a week. Apparently the forgot it was there. Frustrating!
I have this same problem. It stared with turning off while driving. I just turned it off for a few minutes and worked once I restarted. But today it hasn’t worked all day. I’ll try the battery idea tomorrow. Thanks.
That’s really bad mate , I got my AT4 for over a year and I had dead battery 3 times , I finally got black screen after the last dead battery, Is not coming back the radio nor apps on the screen. That’s really annoying from “ new vehicles “. Just CRAP and dealers want to get out of your pocket for their product deficiencies
@@o.b.scartelI no longer have the PU. Check the manual it’s the fuse box on passenger side, by the door. Manual should indicate radio fuse or close to it. Hope that helps.
I had this happen on my way to work this morning. 2020 sierra elevation 5.3 20k miles. The radio still worked, but couldn't turn it on, off up or down. Checked both fuses on the passenger side, they were fine. Started the truck and it worked! I'm confused...and disappointed!
Just happened to my 2020 traill boss custom. Used the remote start and when I got in it was off. Cut the truck off waited for screen to fully cut off then cranked it still wouldn't work. Cut it off one more time then waited a couple minutes and it works now. Truck only has 21000 miles on hasnt happened before.
I have a 2020 lt all star. Same exact thing happened this am. I used remote start went in saw radio screen was off. Restarted truck normally same issue. Hopefully they figure this out.
I have a 2021 gmc slt 2500 and this has happened 3 times including volume freezing and black screen. Dealership keeps sayin oh its a error and it happens..they simply will not do anything to fix this and its bs
2021 Sierra Elevation 4 000mi on it, The same shit happens. It's my first experience with GMC and I am very disappointed. I have a knocking noise that comes from the back while driving. Springs was replaced by warranty. But it's still there. It looks like noise coming from differential. They said I have to drive 1000mi and they would be able to proceed to find the problem. A couple of days ago, screen issues happened!!! It looks like you can't drive far away from the dealer on this car!!! Hmm, it's interesting!!!
This just happened to me in my 2020 GMC Sierra 11/14/22. The sound from the radio works but no display or back up camera. I'll try it out tomorrow hopefully it's just a minor glitch!🤞😕
Just bought my 2020 Trail boss. This happened to mine and it still has not come back full time. Last time it came of for several minutes, i had the radio on and then the screen went blank. I could not turn the radio down. Funny thing is parked at home, turned the truck off, got out and locked the door like normal and the radio was still going. It finally shut off after a minute. Screen will come on briefly, but then go black. Back up camera still works.
Same thing just happened to mine today. The gas gauge also showed empty but then went back up to a quarter tank. I just dropped it off at the dealer. They checked the battery twice. It showed perfect. They said they can hopefully get to it in about 8 days. Ugh.
I have the same problems with my 2020 Silverado RST. This happens like every 6 months. The first time it happened was a week after I bought it. I immediately took it to Chevy and showed them the problem. They fixed it and said "If it does it again just disconnect and reconnect the negative side of the battery". When the issues continued I took it back, but this time it had been after the problem fixed itself. And Chevy said that they couldn't do anything unless they can see the problem. I even showed them video from my phone. When I told them that I did do that the first time and the guy told me to disconnect the battery, they said that he should've never said that to me and there isn't anything else they can do. So now if the problem happens again, I have to hope that I don't have anything going on that day and I can bring it back to Chevy. 🤦♂️
2020 2500HD same thing; happened several times; still under warranty; guess they checked resistance in info center and it didn't come up so getting a new one installed under Chevys 3 year warranty. Bottom line; first time it does that its going to get worse; get it replaced.
I'm almost at a year of owning my truck and about 19,000 mi. my experience has been largely very positive with the truck, and I think technology issues are prevalent in just about anything right now
@@JrsGasolineAlley And yet we as consumers demand tech be put in a vehicle. Granted these systems need to tested and vetted during cold/heat cycles and have the bugs worked out.
I have a 2020 Silverado RST and This has been an issue for me ever since i bought the truck December 20th 2020. It has happened to be several times and ive taken it back to the dealer ship. The first time i took it it was an “update”. The second time they thought it was another update. The third time , they said they are asking for permission from GM to get a new radio system which got approved and they ended up switching it and the very same night i picked my truck back up it happened again. I went back the fourth time and apparently they had a GM specialist look into it and they talked about switching the module , we ended up switching it up and 2 days later , right now as i am typing This comment im sitting in my truck which i just started up with a blank screen. 🤦🏽♂️ this is so frustrating.
I wonder if this would qualify for lemon law. If it does you may want to get rid of the truck now before you end up with more serious problems out of warranty. My screen on a 2020 went dead this morning it’s the first time. 1 time too many if you ask me on a new car. Will be taking to dealer on mon
@@TboneNoSteak I wonder if all that are having this issue have push button start? Could be the common denominator. I would ask the others on here, you never know.
I have the same issue with my 2020 Silverado TrailBoss. It also goes off if I raise the fan speed and or adjust the temperature. My first new GM product and NEVER AGAIN I WILL EVEN LOOK AT A GM product ever in my life. CRAP !!!!!
@@JrsGasolineAlley I understand, but I had an issue with my BMW, and my Lexus, and the dealerships acted immediately. Giving me a demo while they took care of the issue and also gave a voucher to get moneys back for the inconvenience. They where not as severe as these. Trucks and SUVs almost at the same price point.
Happened to my 2020 Silverado Trail Boss, Check engine light would come on and go off after a day. Took it in for service....They told me the trucks computer brain was fried! This controls everything with the truck! They said they have ordered a new brain, but do not know when or if they will get one in time wise!! So frustrating!
Interesting video, some of these digital gadgets are affected by Cell towers and big LED Billboards, I drive a Mercedes-Benz GLE-350 and off and on, the Safety/Cruise control system gets shut down every time i drive by those towers or Billboards, the dealer has failed to fix it, I asked for some filters but, they told me it is something else but.... they don't know what it is or how to fix it, I think we are heading to let the Attorney general get involved; I paid big bucks for a quality vehicle but, the quality is not there.
so what happens is if you shut off your truck get out the radio will still play for 10 minutes. after that it will start working normal. until the next time.
Happened to me too in my 2019 Chevy Colorado 7K miles on it...the screen and radio went out one morning last week. Went to work, then when I got back in the truck at lunchtime it was up and working again. Hadn't happened again yet but now I anticipate it occurring again eventually...Thanks for the video 👍

I have a 2019 GM Sierra and the infotainment system is garbage. Can't look at a menu without the radio on. The radio turns on when I start the truck sometimes (was off when I shut the truck off) Dealer says that's normal. I miss my Honda.
My work trucks screen will sometimes turn black with green lines and the reverse camera is black also intermittently. It's a 2020 Sierra 1500.
I have the same problem. Replaced the battery. No luck. Took it to the dealership. Told me they would have to reprogram it. Sat there for a week. Apparently the forgot it was there. Frustrating!
Exact same thing just happened to me! Ty for this video
Just had this issue. I did what you said to do and it worked. You should be a mechanic
Glad to help
Mine is doing the same thing and now its not starting at all or getting any electricity power whats soo ever
I have this same problem. It stared with turning off while driving. I just turned it off for a few minutes and worked once I restarted. But today it hasn’t worked all day. I’ll try the battery idea tomorrow. Thanks.
That hopefully will help
2020 Silverado with 41k. Screen went black. Mine is covered under warranty.
Nice!
Just happened to my 2020 Chevy trail boss with 12,000 miles. Was off for two stops and randomly came back on
Have a 2020 now hasn’t done it so far. The 2017 did though and u have to replace a blue wire located by your airbag in passenger side $900
That’s really bad mate , I got my AT4 for over a year and I had dead battery 3 times , I finally got black screen after the last dead battery,
Is not coming back the radio nor apps on the screen.
That’s really annoying from “ new vehicles “. Just CRAP and dealers want to get out of your pocket for their product deficiencies
This happens to my truck only when it’s cold. It is a 2020 GMC sierra.
I pulled the radio fuse and reinserted. Came back on.
What fuse # was that i cant seem to find it.
@@o.b.scartelI no longer have the PU. Check the manual it’s the fuse box on passenger side, by the door. Manual should indicate radio fuse or close to it. Hope that helps.
@ thank you i appreciate it.
I had this happen on my way to work this morning. 2020 sierra elevation 5.3 20k miles. The radio still worked, but couldn't turn it on, off up or down. Checked both fuses on the passenger side, they were fine. Started the truck and it worked! I'm confused...and disappointed!
Hmmm strange.
I have a 2020 chevy traverse and it does it too. Have no idea why?!
I am guessing it is an over the air update issue or something.
It a wierd glitch. Must be part of a over the air update or something.
I had this same issue. The dealer eventually replaced the display unit. Was fine for almost a year, and now the issue is back again. Ugh!
2021 Sierra Elevation 4 000mi on it,
The same shit happens.
I think it's the human machine interface control's volume and radio and backup camera
same thing happen to my 2020 gmc terrain...
it went back on after i turn it off and on
Nice
Has it turned off since than ?
Same thing happen to mine . Radio works but no screen or back up. How did you fix yours?
Same thing just happened to mine today. The gas gauge also showed empty but then went back up to a quarter tank. I just dropped it off at the dealer. They checked the battery twice. It showed perfect. They said they can hopefully get to it in about 8 days. Ugh.
Bummer 👎
Just had this happen to my 2020 Silverado. Went to the store with no screen and came back out and the screen came back on. Who knows 🤷♂️
Truth, who knows.
Ended up replacing for another aftermarket unit. Couldn’t take it keep shutting off!!
Same here on my Silverado RST 2020...
2020 2500HD same thing; happened several times; still under warranty; guess they checked resistance in info center and it didn't come up so getting a new one installed under Chevys 3 year warranty. Bottom line; first time it does that its going to get worse; get it replaced.
Just happened to my 2019 Sierra with only 36k miles on it. Really wishing I had bought Japanese
Happened on my 2015 Silverado and right now on my 2020 Trail Boss.
Dang thats too bad.
My 2020 Terrain just had this problem
How big is your screen
Im looking to get into a New 2021 AT4 but after seeing these issue videos idk GM has really gone down hill in the past few years sad.
I'm almost at a year of owning my truck and about 19,000 mi. my experience has been largely very positive with the truck, and I think technology issues are prevalent in just about anything right now
@@JrsGasolineAlley
And yet we as consumers demand tech be put in a vehicle.
Do you have push button start?
@@vaughnhoshue9285 please keep me updated. I wanted to get it lifted and everything but i have put a hold on that
@@dennydeckerful yes i do
@@TboneNoSteak I wonder if all that are having this issue have push button start? Could be the common denominator. I would ask the others on here, you never know.
Hey!!! It just happened to me too🤣🤣🤣
I have the same issue with my 2020 Silverado TrailBoss. It also goes off if I raise the fan speed and or adjust the temperature.
My first new GM product and NEVER AGAIN I WILL EVEN LOOK AT A GM product ever in my life. CRAP !!!!!
These things happen
@@JrsGasolineAlley I understand, but I had an issue with my BMW, and my Lexus, and the dealerships acted immediately. Giving me a demo while they took care of the issue and also gave a voucher to get moneys back for the inconvenience. They where not as severe as these. Trucks and SUVs almost at the same price point.
My 2016 canyon has the same problem
just got a 2021 trail boss, screen has gone black 3 times in two days
ugh, that sucks
Hopefully mine turns back on tomorrow morning when I use it for work 🙁 also a 2020 sierra 🤦🏼♀️
Hope it did
I’ve got the same problem on my 2020 3500.
That's no good
Same here 2020 3500 just black screen
I have a 2018 GMC Terrain, It has done this before, I be leave it was doing an update.
Hmm that seems to be a good reason. Thanks for the thought.
Happen to me also apparently nothing gets recalled anymore! Sad
It is not a safety issue so it would not be eligible for a recall.
Happening to me. Infotainment was stuck on device is starting.....we will see
My truck has less then 300 miles and this happened , 2021 silverado trail boss
Me too 2021 sierra less than 300 miles.
Happend to me as well... 2019 gmc sierra 1500... waited about 15 min
so what happens is if you shut off your truck get out the radio will still play for 10 minutes. after that it will start working normal. until the next time.
Just happened to me! 2021 Trailboss at 3544 miles!
Bummer.
After 10 minutes the truck shuts all power off to prevent anything from draining the battery. That's how it reset itself.
That happened to me when I got my 2016 denali brand new
That sucks. Hope its working fine now.
We should all make a class action lawsuit against gmc for this problem..I have a 2017 no more parts is what there telling me now..
Bummer.
This shit just happened to my 2020 chev 1500. I tried several times, no luck. Went home showered, started this vid, got to the part where you had waited 30 min and then it worked. I said what the hell and went outside. Sure as shit all I had to do was unlock it to see chevy emblem pop up on the screen. Ever happen to you again?
If you just hold down the power button until the system powers back up the infotainment system will reboot and the screen should come back on
Got the exact same truck, it just happen to me at 3600 miles, kinda funny
Bummer I think it's happening when there's an over-the-air update
