Can someone explain to me how Ellen Ripley is overly sexualised at the end of Alien? Because I always thought it was more about vulnerability than sexuality. She thinks she's finally safe and takes her space suit off. She's not gonna have a high-collar conservative dress on underneath. She's gonna have underwear on. If it was lace stockings and suspenders, you'd have a point. But it isn't. Ripley should be number one on this list.
Sinessa 100% agreed. It really made me raise a brow when they said they relied on her sex appeal at the end of the movie. It never came across like that... it just felt like a normal scene.
I guess being in your underwear in a scenario in which you would rationally be in your underwear qualifies as being "overly sexualized". :/ Maybe they're getting at the scene feeling a little fan service-y for the viewers? IDK, I never saw it that way either. A woman in her underwear is not inherently sexual to me.
Beats me, seems rather arbitrary to disqualify Ellen. It could also said that Bea is overly sexualized when she in in Pussy Wagon trying to wiggle her toes due to fact that Tarantino seem to have serious foot fetish. Also tight yellow jumpsuit. EDIT: Jeez, they also said those things.
Not only that, ALL the crew members were in their underwear in the beginning, both men and women. That establishes the fact that they all strip down for cryo. I agree. It was a BS reason for excluding her.
I hope watchmojo listens to the comments at least once..I know they're running out of ideas so just listen to the damn comments and make lists for them and stop making lists that no one gives a shit about
Marty K You know, I see these claims that 'WatchMojo is running out of ideas' so regularly that it's as if WatchMojo has been 'out of ideas' for two years. Hint, they don't decide the contents of the videos: they make the videos based on suggestions from their viewers.
BS on the non-inclusion of Ripley. Her last scene does not constitute sexualizing Ripley at all. In fact, by assuming that showing her stripping down to her underwear is sexual, you are, in fact, sexualizing her. In "Aliens," when Ripley and the Marines are shown waking up on the Sulaco, they're all in their undies. And safe. So at the end of the movie, when she strips down to go into hibernation, it's just symbolizing that she's safe. All the human characters end up at the beginning and the end sequences on the Sulaco are in their undies. And Ripley's underwear is about as un-sexy as female undies get. So, if you see women's undies as automatically sexy, that's a reflection on you, not the film or women's underwear.
While I agree that she is not sexualized, I'd argue the point of having that scene take place in her skivvies is to accentuate the utter vulnerability of her character at that moment. She was literally stripped bare of any protection, and still had to kill this creature.
But they included her on oversexualized just cuz the scene. Watch the list is lameeee. Because they say sexualized is looking pretty in the case of Denis Richards
Umm...Sarah Connor had a nude sex scene in the first Terminator, so she should be disqualified if Ellen Ripley was also for being in her underwear at the end of Alien. Hey, this are your own rules, Watch Mojo.
synthsolutionmusic Well...she was in her undies, and i thought she was sexualised, i mean she gave me a boner(almost ruined the climax because of that).
To not include Ellen Ripley but to include Katniss is bullshit. Katniss was forced to dress up and beautify in order to sell herself in the movie. If Ripley had been shown throughout the movie in tank and underwear then yeah I'd see your point. Ripley is iconic and came before all the others on that list. She should be included. Arguably without Sigorney as Ripley you might not have had the others. She was the first female action hero in the movies. How could you leave out the trailblazer? You need to redo this list. Should be called WackMojo
No Ripley? You're crazy. Go home. You guys really think that ONE scene in her underwear negates everything else she does in the Aliens trilogy? How high are you? Without Ripley, there is no list. Her character was the original, the pioneer, and she made the rest of this list possible. Well, Ripley and Vasquez. ;)
+Dorothy Brostrand I so agree, Ripley #1, Sarah Conner #2 then maybe the kill bill fem. I couldn't stand to watch KB, because it was jus too outrageous (& comical) that fight scene where she fights 42 (?) men.
+Justin Lee Ooo that's a good one. I was thinking also O-Ren Ishii and Beatrix Kiddo should have been tied for first place since they were both so kick ass.
I think that’s a good point. Most of Jodie Foster’s roles were strong women that were not sexualized in order to sell tickets. You went because she is a damn good actress.
Ellen Ripley is the most awesome kickass female movie character because she had no training of any kind to prepare her for what she had to face. The other female leads were great, especially two of my favorites - Sarah Connor and Sgt. Vrataski, but they mostly had extensive training to rely on. Props to Sarah Connor though because she essentially trained herself. Ripley, on the other hand, was fueled by raw courage and not much else!
+dorsal 2008 especially in Aliens the second movie--Ripley was awesome as a "mother" defending her child, and Weaver sold the action like few females in cinema could.
+dorsal 2008 not to mention.. what person doesnt strip off their work clothes when they finally have a break?? man thats the first thing i would do .. i just wouldnt look as good doing it xD
The way the video complains about it reminds me of teenagers that have to tell everyone that they're mature. If you have to say it, you don't really understand what it means, lol.
You should have waited a couple of months to make this list so that Furiosa from Mad Max: Fury Road could be on here. Also I don't agree that Ripley's character relies on her sex appeal, at least not in Aliens...
UnkeptMoss328 They should have waited, because if they take off Ripley for that one scene, then there is another character they would have to take off for the same reason, if they had waited.
Ok taking off Ripley for one scene in one movie doesn't make sense when they use Sarah Connor from one Terminator movie when she is part of a fanchise and her in the first movie has her having sex. And all we see from Rip is her in her panties in the first movie. That is not overly sexual. So if you can use Sarah from one movie why not use the original badass woman for Aliens. The lady that in my book started it all
Ellen Ripley should be on this list, the scene was supposed to represent Ellen catching her breath after what she thought was the end of the nightmare. Stripping down to your underwear being completely vulnerable then realizing the Alien is still on board the ship. Literally being caught with your pants down. If this was a male actor I doubt you would have viewed the scene as being sexualized.
And yet number 10 on your list is Eowyn, the female heroine who swooned over Aragorn for almost all her screen time. May not be sexualized but it was the most stereotypical female protagonist you could write.
Scarlett O'Hara from Gone With The Wind has my vote. She may not carry a gun or a sword but her relentless will to survive is so inspiring, especially for women and young girls. Yes she is known for her beauty (she was Vivien Leigh) but that doesn't define her.
Lil'RedCorvette022 I agree, she is far more kickass than Hermione and Tris. And one of the most layered, well written female characters ever. She does use her sex appeal to manipulate men but I wouldn't say she is sexualised seeing as she does it to survive and keep Tara.
Someone Else Hey I love Gone With the Wind but let's not forget that Hermione was a huge part of saving the magical world from Voldemort. Scarlett certainly is a badass in her own right, but she's more of a persistent, angry badass than a save the world from evil badass, like many women on this list. (But I agree with you that Tris shouldn't be here)
***** Hmm true but she was only the third main character so I don't feel she is that impressive. She was smart and all, but kickass? Nah. At least Scarlett was cunning by herself.
Someone Else I assume you've read the Harry Potter books, and if you have, then you'd know that Hermione's intelligence and cleverness saved the other two main characters' lives multiple times. She used her knowledge to cast badass spells and such. Scarlett was like quietly cunning, as she had to be, due to the time period. I wouldn't take issue with Scarlett being included on this list, but I still think Hermione should've been higher. But to each their own (opinion).
HOW could you NOT include Ripley? Just because we saw her in her underwear in one movie. Katinis was oversexualized tons more than Ripley (with evening gowns, on-screen kisses, ect ) In Aliens Ripley was the ultimate tough female, with only Sarah Connor matching her intensity. Without Ripley this list is bogus! I'm giving this list a thumbs down for this incorrect selection. Also, Vasquez in Aliens - how is she not on this list?
No No No No Mo Jo. Ellen Ripley of alien should NOT be disqualified for her 1 final scene. Her whole character was proven bad ass Lt fighter. She wasn't overly sexualized, just in her undies for 1 scene. By these standards, Uma should be disqualified from 1st for having skin tight yellow suit. The suit doesn't even offer any protection.
In Alien was Ripley originally supposed to be naked in the final scene. BUT not to be attractive, it was supposed to symbolize how fragile and weak she was compared to the Alien, which seemed unstoppable thorughout the movie. But the movie company said no to this idea since it meant they had to raise the age limit if she was naked. SO Ripley would make a great addition to this list, but of course that depends of how you want to look on the matter of sexualization.
Name of the list: "Top 10 Kickass Female Movie Characters Who Weren't Overly Sexualized". Ellen Ripley gets disqualified because she is shown in her underwear. Once. Is that really "overly" sexualizing her enough to be disqualified? Forget that the story justifies it because she was about to enter cryosleep, forget that from a visual narrative standpoint it shows her as more vulnerable, being in your underwear doesn't automatically imply that you are relying on your sex appeal. And since the list doesn't necessarily focus on protagonists, just characters, Vasquez from Aliens shits on all your candidates except Sara Connor and Ripley herself.
The final scene in Alien was creepy sexual not hot sexual. I saw it more as showing the softness/weakness of the human body next to the harshness of the Xenomorphs.
+Marchant2 You are so right, that was moronic to say the least. Seeing Ripley in her panties getting ready to go into hypersleep was the last thing on my mind when watching that classic movie. It was when was that xenomorph going to appear again to try and kill her. That BS statement was a lie and they know it, they are pandering to feminists.
+Marchant2 I beg to differ. Ripley was a fit young woman with nice attributes but she was never what one would call a *stone fox.* Just one guys perspective.
+Marchant2 I agree. She was NOT sexualized. She was changing into a suit to save her life once she opened the doors to kill the alien. This is ridiculous. She should have been #1. No one can compare to Ripley.
Vasquez was my first thought for this list. How could they not acknowledge Vasquez, Newt, or the Alien Queen not to mention Ripley. This whole film was filled with kickass non-sexualized females.
They said cause of Ripley's underwear scene she was disqualified. Which i guess would be the same for Vasquez for the whole scene where Hicks accuses her of being a man even though she's rocking a tanktop with her breasts on full display.
So expect the next list to be "Top 10 Female Celebrities Who Didn't Have Sex Before Marriage?" There's nothing wrong with having sex appeal; male or female.
MrSTVR They're not saying that these women don't have sex appeal; they're saying they weren't sexualised. That means that these films focussed on the characteristics, personality and actions of the women instead of how much a male audience would want to have sex with them
Trinity from the Matrix. G.I. Jane. The original female badass. Furiosa, although Mad Max isn't out on DVD yet. The CIA agent from zero dark thirty. That Japanese girl from Pacific Rim. I'm sure there are many more.
Frederic Beaudet ok, lets do some disqualifications... Trinity.. used leather clothes and had sex.. out.. Furiosa.. too new but she will be later.. Jessica chastain's character.. hmm, real one.. but ok... Japanese girl from Pacific Rim, giving the criteria of this video.. is fine..
***** Can't anyone say something on the internet without someone finding fallacy on what they are saying ? I'm here to be entertained and have fun. You should try it sometimes.
***** Yes I think such a thing did take place before 1997. It does not make me take back the over statement I made about a movie that had more an influence on my childhood, on the mater of female badasses may I specify, than any movie that were made before that. I get your point, I agree and I don't care.
Exactly. I thought Major Kusanagi was more sexualized in the Ghost in the Shell Series than in the movie, even though she's naked half the time in the film and always clothed in the series.
No Selene from Underworld? She's fully covered up and super-badass. And I agree with other commentators that Ripley was just plain *robbed.* One scene in her underwear should not invalidate three full movies of kicking ass! :P
I'm glad Peggy Carter got a nod. The movie didn't feature her enough to actually be on the list, but if this were a TV list, she would be number one. Every episode of "Agent Carter" blows me away, not just for being good, but for the fact that their main character is played by possibly one of the most desirable women on the planet, and they let her toughness and cleverness speak for her instead of her sexuality.
Let's say Ripley IS sexualized in the last scene, which is questionable...does that discount the way her character is portrayed for the rest of the movie and its sequel?
He said she was too soft and you say:"Oh I'm sorry I didn't realising being a badass meant you can't feel emotions and need to be good at everything". that's changing his words :)
shes already been #1 on quite a few list. its about time someone else got a chance.. i mean come on it was starting to get annoying that she was always #1.
Ugh... The entire definition of a list is that it is unbiased and is based on the information available and nothing else. To eliminate someone who is worthy 'because they had their chance before' completely discredits the integrity of the list. That's like saying, "Top 10 Greatest Scientist" but we won't include Einstein because he's been on other list. Also, them taking Ripley out of the equation simply because she appeared in night-clothes before going into cryo-sleep, in the very last scene of a movie shows that WatchMojo are really the sexist ones. Never once in my 30 years of living do I think of her being in a tank-top as being 'sexualized', let alone 'oversexualized'... By disqualifying her on that basis, WatchMojo is saying that 15 seconds of her being in that outfit defines her character despite 3 films worth of her being a non-sexual badass.
C'mon we all know this List and all those amazing Films would not exist without this special Decision of Ridley Scott. He was the One who decided to introduce a female Character for this Role an he had the Balls to enforce it against the Producers. So there she is, Ellen Ripley who redefined the whole Action Genre worldwide. Worldwide ? hell yeah, think about Azumi, Battle Royale or Shurayuki Hime. Excluding Einstein from the List of greatest Scientists ? Well there are some Reasons to do so. Check out what he did for a Living and think about it. I think Planck would be #1
+iEatEmos An excellent point, the ladies from that show were badass and were not sexualized. Admittedly I loved that show and wished they had at least had completed an entire season before cancelling it.
WatchMojo you seriously didn't need to add in the words "who weren't overly sexualized" into the title. I would agree with your picks just as well if the list was simply entitled "Top 10 kickass female movie characters". But adding that they're not sexualized just seems like politically correct horseshit.
***** Many feminists take issue with all three of them. I wasn't saying that feminists are all fat ugly moaners, I was pointing out that suppressing female sexuality on flimsy grounds such as "objectification" is a core tenet of feminism.
***** I'm not even sure how to fully respond to your comment, and I don't see a purpose in addressing your No True Scotsman point. Feminism is a zeitgeisty thing with a definitional issue; the people you have cited as examples are frivolous celebrities using a hollow handle because it's popular. They are not academics or socio-political figures, and their views on "feminism" (or rather their seemingly-benign pop-cultural fascimile of it) are worth next-to-nothing. None of them have ever demonstrated any real understanding of the issues. It's hardly unheard of for people to support hostile and oppressive ideologies that (actively and/or passively) hate them without their knowing it. At any rate, this useless tangent of naming "sexy" celebrity "feminists" is hardly of any substance or relevance at all. Knowingly or unknowingly becoming a snake-oil salesman doesn't prevent the snake oil from being poisonous. If these people can't see that the ideology they tout is profoundly pitted against their entire livelihood, the more fool them. Using your logic, I know a couple of muslim people who don't believe that wearing a burqa is mandatory; therefore Islam has nothing to do with burqas and anyone who enforces their use are not real muslims.
Challenge flag on Katniss not being sexualized. She's not revealingly dressed, but she does manipulate Peeta and Gale's affections for her to be better weapons than her bow.
I think there's something a little off about the way they rated movies here. I don't think that showing some skin or engaging in sex is the problem with characters being sexualized (Trinity in the Matrix, for example, has sex but I would say that she's still a kickass female character). It's when the character is only valued for their sexuality or don't contribute anything to the movie other than physical appearance that it becomes an issue. Saying that Tris "wore appropriate clothing for her age" etc. just sounds like weird slut-shaming. If a female character was being sexy by choice, entirely for her own benefit and not because of anyone else's pressure, then I think it's OK. "Overly" sexualized is a bit of a stretch too.
+AkityBakity Also, physical fighting seems to be a criteria for being "kickass" according to this list, but I think there is a lot more to being a kickass woman. (Not a movie, but) Penelope Garcia from Criminal Minds is pretty kickass IMO, even though she's into cute fluffy things and does almost zero physical fighting. The concept of this list was okay, but the rating needed to be thought out more.
The only problem with this video is this: Sex Appeal depends on the eyes and mind of each person. For instance; some people dont think Ripley nudity is sexy. Sometimes, the simply fact of being swetie, or with messed hair, or dirty, or whatever. Clothing has nothing to do with it. Less, or more.
Ricardo Gasparini Lage Exactly. By dressing normally, most women in the west are *showing too much* as compared to the middle east ones of muslim fundamentalist nature. It's all very subjective. The problem with feminist ideology is that everything that display a single scent of sexyness is understood by them as "objectification", they have no mid term. It's a dualist thinking and part of the total double standard that feminist ideology (modern feminism) stands on in order to further push misandry into other people's concerns.
More lists like this please! Women in iconic, hillarious, tearjerking, villainous roles are too seldomly the topic of your Top 10s, sooo many opportunities missed...
"As long as they could kick ass and take names, with their beauty not being the most prominent or most focused-upon element in the story, then she could potentially make the list." Ripley blatantly and unarguably meets this standard in spades, but you've already been rightly called out on that misjudgement so I won't pursue it further. So instead let me tell you how fucked up the REST of this video is. You seem to be using an extremely narrow standard of sexualization focused almost exclusively on the clothes being worn. This recalls an almost Victorian notion of "propriety", and you severely overemphasize clothing choices over the characters' roles, actions and personalities. The first half of this video mentioned wardrobe selection so many times I thought I was listening to a fashion magazine posting. Luckily you seemed to eventually zero in on the actual character of each subject in the later choices, but even then there seemed to be this simplistic sense that if you have less than X% of skin showing, you're a role model, but step outside with one less accessory covering yourself and you're being immodestly sexual. Sexuality and objectification is so much more complex than your utterly misguided standard. Let's go back to your own original qualification for this list. "Beauty not being the most prominent element." A good thing to look for! Then why the fuck does half your list mention how beautiful the actresses are, as long as they can be beautiful while covering up all their scary parts? So apparently it IS fine to focus on natural aspects of the actresses' appearances that have nothing to do with the role they're playing? As long as it's decent, proper body parts and not something as barbaric as *gasp* cleavage! What a grossly old fashioned, arbitrary standard. You also listed several Honorable Mentions (Shoshanna and especially Peggy Carter) who, yes, apparently meet your blindly bureaucratic method of judging of sartorial appropriateness, but whose actual roles in their films are quite sexual indeed. Shoshanna is very badass but spends much of the film seducing an adversary. Agent Carter is literally in the film to be Steve's love interest, token opportunities to pop off a few pistol rounds notwithstanding. Surely you recognize your blatant hypocrisy in claiming these roles are less sexualized than Ripley's? A character that exists or acts to increase the sexual tension in a scene is a sexualized character, regardless of the height of her neckline or whether her bra strap is showing. Your selections and especially your descriptions are misguided and violate your own stated qualities. Rethink your views on this matter. Don't promote a society where individual character and context is disregarded in favor of a blanket rule imposed by a paternalistic authority.
***** I shouldn't have stereotyped all feminists... but, the ones who told Watch Mojo not to put her on the list, are the feminists people complain about..
***** Agreed. I'm all for equal rights... Gays, Feminists whatever, but I'm never in any support groups because I believe a lot of them present themselves poorly to the public.
Hawkish. I think Femnazi's is the term you are looking for. The 'feminists' that are so over the top and sensitive about female portrayal they flood whenever something strikes a nerve and more looking for supremacy then equality. But I'm all for feminism or more maybe appropriately 'humanism' where females can be equal in today's society.
***** I didn't invent the term, the internet did so don't look at me for using a word that has become common to associate with those kinds of people. If they make a new term for it then I'll use that but that's what I have to use at the current time so sorry if that in some way annoys you. As I said I am all for feminism and such in the equality stance but there are people out there that go past equality and go about it in a way that is campaigning for supremacy rather then equality. Besides the usage of words can change over time its like when gay used to mean happy but now is commonly used as a word for guys who like guys. So whilst I am sure people don't try to compare people who complain cause they have the offensive fragileness of a vase made of glass to vicious men who killed cause they thought they were impure, it's just a word that people commonly associate with those types of people.
I think M should have had a honorable mention, sure she doesn't really kick ass, but you don't want to mess with her she did all this while looking beautiful and being 70 years old.
Another brilliant call and a great stonking ommission again! Vasques damn near takes the whole movie in Aliens, and her turn in Predator 2 is pretty memorable too! Co incidentally both along side Bill Paxton.
Trinity (Matrix). Ripley totally counts sheesh (she even shaves her head for future films). Gamora (Guardians of the Galaxy). so many missed opportunities here.
Manoli S. Yea ik This makes no sense she takes off her clothes for like 3 minutes and sarah connor has sex and her boobs are lingered on in the original terminator and she's still in here
I'd actually go for Princess Leia. Obviously there's the obvious exception of the slave girl costume from Jaba's palace in Return of The Jedi but frankly , the character does nothing to sexualise that costume ; it's all in the viewer's mind. Any of the other outfits that Leia wears might be beautiful, but not necessarily sexual.
Are they kidding me with Number 1? When you watch Kill Bill 1 and 2 the enemies in the show keep going on about how they think The Bride is the prettiest blonde they've ever seen. Every time she encountered a villain, they constantly went on how she's a pretty blonde or a dumb blonde. Going on about the characters looks is pretty much sexualizing them too. Then the comment at 11:20, really... this chart was suppose to NOT focus on sexuality. Ripley doesn't get to be on this list just because you see her in her underwear, yet a character that everyone in the movie calls "The prettiest blonde you'll ever see" gets to be number 1
So what is a female character is sexy? Does that take away from ass-kicking? Is this how you value women, by their prudishness or their sexiness? Are those the qualifying traits, the most important distinctions? Ripley should have been number one. Sorry she has a female body.
+BellroseJewel Showing a girls body isn't "sexualising" her. Sure, if they were showing her doing some sort of sexual act or having sex, that would be. But Ripley was just getting ready for bed in that scene. Not much sexual about that. A woman simply having body parts doesn't automatically make her sexual, nor should it merit any treatment as a sexual act. Changing into pajamas is in no way sexual, and the fact that you think it is, just because they showed some of her stomach and legs, only proves the way that society has taught us to think that every aspect of a woman is sexual. Contrary to popular belief, the female body is not always a sexual object.
Bootsy Swan Exactly what I mean to say. I specifically said "sexy" instead of "sexualized" in my post. Ripley was played by an attractive woman, no doubt, so it's only logical to assume that people are attracted to her(she's 'sexy') but people have to realize that it is not something she is doing, but their own perception. They kicked her off the list for no fault of her own, and it this whole video just made me feel like they were valuing these women for the wrong reasons. Instead of thinking about how kick-ass these girls are, they were more worried that other people might be sexually attracted to them, their modesty, as if that's more important. TL;DR I hate when straight men blame women for their heterosexuality, and the rest of the world just plays along.
MissMiserize I agree completely. Though I am a straight guy, I often find it baffling what other men can fault women for. Ripley was literally kicked off this list because she was an attractive woman. Not because she was sexualised or because she did anything overtly suggestive (rather, suggestive *at all*), but because she is someone that most straight men (and I'm sure many women) find "sexy". A strange thing to condemn someone for....
A list about not being overly sexualised but every star mentioned they talk about how 'beautiful' they are. You don't need to dress up to save the world.....but you still have to be pretty....WTF?? Poor Ladies. The Male Gaze must just be the worst thing ever.
Vuyisile Sibeko The problem with them ladies today is that they want you to look at them....if you're hot. Feminism is basically a movement of ego today, ladies don't want women portrayed as hot, sexual beings, just women. The problem with that is that they are fine with men being portrayed that way, which shows the hypocrisy and jealousy of the feminazi campaign.
My list: 1. Beatrice Kiddo (Kill Bill) 2. Alice (Resident Evil) 3. Ripley (Alien) 4. Black Widow (The Avengers) 5. Evelyn Salt (Salt) 6. Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games) 7. Hit Girl (Kick Ass) 8. Sarah Connor (Terminator) 9. Yu Shu Lien (Crouching Tiger) 10. Alex Munday (Charlie's Angels)
+Kibate Thats exactly what they are saying by excluding Sigourney Weaver in Alien. Her changing was too sexy. Lol nothing sexual about Ripley in that scene at all. Seems like they are turning her into a sexual object to me.
Yes, this is more like its Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton 65/66:26th September 1956) 👏👏👏 I have seen her in Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) ....... She looks so fearless with her role as Mayor Rachel Wando in Dante's Peak (1997) 😊😊😊 You go girl Miss Hamilton (65/66:26th September 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland --United States of America) ❤❤❤❤
Furiosa definitely should've been added, as this was released on RUclips after Mad Max came out in May. I also agree with what others are saying; if Ripley's excluded for her sex appeal in Alien, then Sarah Conner should be excluded for her sex scene in the first Terminator.
Also known as, "Boring characters with a lack of a personality for the entire film and says very little." Like, Katniss, who hardly speaks, and is really fucking boring. To save you some time, any female character from young teen movies that are the protagonists. Mainly because the directors think the way to get people to take a female characters seriously is to make them really pissed off all the time and be a dick to everyone.
Carlos W. Is that your only argument? That feminists are all 'jealous'? I've seen you comment on almost every comment and that is a pretty stupid argument. I'm a woman and I can say that other women are beautiful or sexy or whatever without feeling jealous of them. And who cares, you know? I can say that I'm a woman, I have a belly and cellulite and I deserve as much love as all of the "hot" women or the women I'm "supposed" to be "jealous" of according to your argument. I'm not jealous, I just cannot take it when a woman is in her bra or naked for no reason other than to get men to buy tickets. It's disgusting.
Abigail Reads " I deserve as much love as all of the "hot" women " I smell a self-centered feminist. "I just cannot take it when a woman is in her bra or naked for no reason other than to get men to buy tickets. It's disgusting." You realize there are also movies that do that with men right? Ever heard of Magic Mike? Pain & Gain? Anything with "The Rock" ever? Directors get "hot" actors for movies for more people to watch it. You say it's disgusting, it's business. They do this for a living.
If you're not gonna include Ripley (which you should, as #1, since most of these characters wouldn't exist without her), at least include Vasquez from Aliens. Also, I love Beatrix Kiddo, but no way does she beat Linda Hamilton's Sarah Conner.
Ripley should've been included in the list. My pick: Natalie Portman as Mathilda in Léon: The Professional (1994) I'm not gonna try and think of any more female movie characters because your definition of "overly sexualized" differs from mine.
It's hard to nail down any one scene in the theatrical release, the director's cut contains a scene where she outright says she wants to have sex with him. Here is a fairly good discussion about the topic www.reddit.com/r/TrueFilm/comments/40ap8l/did_leon_the_professional_seem_to_sexualize_a_12/
You totally forgot about Hypatie (Rachel Weisz) in Agora !!! One of the few leading female characters in a big (not romantic) movie who is very intelligent, brave, and without a love story
EDIT: Jeez, they also said those things.
depenthene and freaking Tris, had sex at age 16, yet she makes it in the list.
Not only that, ALL the crew members were in their underwear in the beginning, both men and women. That establishes the fact that they all strip down for cryo. I agree. It was a BS reason for excluding her.
Now do a top 10 kickass black movie characters that weren't overly stereotyped. That's an order.
Shaft FTW!!!
Im hoping this is just a mockery of political correctness.
Babalooza I dont think its possible to find them.
So, if you see women's undies as automatically sexy, that's a reflection on you, not the film or women's underwear.
even worst the first lady they used she was sexualized
While I agree that she is not sexualized, I'd argue the point of having that scene take place in her skivvies is to accentuate the utter vulnerability of her character at that moment. She was literally stripped bare of any protection, and still had to kill this creature.
But they included her on oversexualized just cuz the scene. Watch the list is lameeee. Because they say sexualized is looking pretty in the case of Denis Richards
Pam Wolff Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
She was a goddess.
Where's Triniti? She was a bad ass & saved Neo's ass twice
She was rocking body leather the entire film...
she was naked a couple times
Yeah that cat suit took her down a few notches.
Probably did not make it because of the sex scene with Neo in the second movie.
Your excuse for excluding Ripley is laughable, she's the iconic non-sexualized badass chick! Unbelievably stupid move on your part, WatchMojo.
Karolyn Helmsley Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
She is not even sexy. Herr butt is even flatter than a pancake
Also a little arbitrary because Sarah Connor has a sex scene in the first movie and is on this list.
Umm...Sarah Connor had a nude sex scene in the first Terminator, so she should be disqualified if Ellen Ripley was also for being in her underwear at the end of Alien. Hey, this are your own rules, Watch Mojo.
N Slater Women must never be undressed ever of they become sexualized, apparently.
N Slater She was listed for her role in T2, not T1, so I don't think that should affect it.
Nightman221k Well it's usually for...ya know...
N Slater They listed her as T2 Sarah Connor. So I guess that makes the difference.
MCzenman truthunwinding So there are a few Alien movies that Ripley could be put into the list then...
.....How in the hell did the final act of Alien rely on her sex appeal? You people need to justify that statement
synthsolutionmusic By that logic, Jennifer Lawrence can be disqualified just for having to wear a sleeveless dress.
synthsolutionmusic They do stuff like that so people comment about how bullshit it is. Thus getting more comments.
synthsolutionmusic Yeah, besides, the ass was FLAT. And they say its "Sex Appeal" in that scene. Man, WatchMojo needs get out of here with that logic
synthsolutionmusic Well...she was in her undies, and i thought she was sexualised, i mean she gave me a boner(almost ruined the climax because of that).
N Ro Sex appeal does not rely on physical attributes. Your personal preferences does not equal facts :)
I was thinking the exact same thing! I call BS!
th2k Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Ellen Ripley should be # 1, Sarah Conner should be # 2, and Furiosa should be # 3.
Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling in Silence of the Lambs.
Great mention!
Kati e Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
No Ripley? You're crazy. Go home.
You guys really think that ONE scene in her underwear negates everything else she does in the Aliens trilogy? How high are you? Without Ripley, there is no list. Her character was the original, the pioneer, and she made the rest of this list possible.
Well, Ripley and Vasquez. ;)
JetPackDino Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Ripley should have been number 1.
+Dorothy Brostrand I so agree, Ripley #1, Sarah Conner #2 then maybe the kill bill fem. I couldn't stand to watch KB, because it was jus too outrageous (& comical) that fight scene where she fights 42 (?) men.
She fights fighters.
WTF grow a pair! Beatrix Kiddo is more than worthy of number 1!!
I totally agree!!!!!!
Dorothy B Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Honorable mention to Evelyn Salt.
And as everyone else is saying - RIPLEY = #1
So Ripley gets excluded over ridiculous technicality of an underwear scene but you have Katniss and Tris on the list? Riiight, makes perfect sense.
Lilah E Noir Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Lilah E Noir they’re awesome 😎
What about Jodie Foster in Silence of the Lambs?
+Justin Lee Ooo that's a good one. I was thinking also O-Ren Ishii and Beatrix Kiddo should have been tied for first place since they were both so kick ass.
Brian Wiegand Also Rhona Mitra in Doomsday
Justin Lee Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Does she really kick ass do? Or is she more damsel in distress?
I think that’s a good point. Most of Jodie Foster’s roles were strong women that were not sexualized in order to sell tickets. You went because she is a damn good actress.
Megan Fox in Transformers? Marilyn Monroe in The Seven Year Itch? Jessica Rabbit?
ReaderGamerSinger movie characters who AREN'T overly sexualized.
Daniel Whittaker I know, that's the joke
ReaderGamerSinger HA!
ReaderGamerSinger You funny man.
Everything Ellen Ripley did suddenly doesn't count because of an underwear scene?
Furiosa should at the very least be an honourable mention also.
Ripley, on the other hand, was fueled by raw courage and not much else!
dorsal 2008 Agreed! To this day I love that character gave me something to admire as a kid
+dorsal 2008 THIS.
+dorsal 2008 I absolutely agree!
Talk about completely misunderstanding the final part of Alien.
amen bullshit excuse
The way the video complains about it reminds me of teenagers that have to tell everyone that they're mature. If you have to say it, you don't really understand what it means, lol.
Mrster Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
If you cant put Ripley in for Alien, put her in for Aliens. You put Sarah Connor in and she gets a sex scene in the first movie X (
You should have waited a couple of months to make this list so that Furiosa from Mad Max: Fury Road could be on here.
Also I don't agree that Ripley's character relies on her sex appeal, at least not in Aliens...
UnkeptMoss328 Are you deaf and blind?
AssassinsCreedMan621 Nope, I just originally skipped the intro but as you can see I went back and corrected myself.
UnkeptMoss328 good job
May not be sexualized but it was the most stereotypical female protagonist you could write.
hayden fane Co-sign!
She does use her sex appeal to manipulate men but I wouldn't say she is sexualised seeing as she does it to survive and keep Tara.
baddogonline She gave a good performance for the underrated Waterloo Bridge too.
ScarlettM Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Was more sexualized than Black Widow & Ripley combined.
Terry Gascay Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
You're not counting Ripley because of the last scene in alien? Stupid technicality.
My list:
1) Ripley (Alien)
2)Furiosa (Mad Max)
3) Sarah Connor (Terminator 2)
4) Lady Snowblood
5) Selena
6) Alice (Resident Evil)
7) Hit-Girl (Kick Ass)
8) Black Widow (Avengers)
9) Trinity
10) Erin (You're Next)
Furiosa was bad ass!
wondering why you would put furiosa over sarah . her transformation from t1 to t2 is amazing and in my opinion only ripley out does her
You really don't think Kiddo should be on your list?
But Alice really did show up some skin in RE. She was naked in the opening scene of Resident Evil 1
agree
In Alien was Ripley originally supposed to be naked in the final scene. BUT not to be attractive, it was supposed to symbolize how fragile and weak she was compared to the Alien, which seemed unstoppable thorughout the movie. But the movie company said no to this idea since it meant they had to raise the age limit if she was naked.
SO Ripley would make a great addition to this list, but of course that depends of how you want to look on the matter of sexualization.
Madjaman Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Ripley/Sarah Connor should both be No. 1
TenDisks I totally agree with you
TenDisks Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Lord Baktor Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
The final scene in Alien was creepy sexual not hot sexual. I saw it more as showing the softness/weakness of the human body next to the harshness of the Xenomorphs.
lucy rebecca This guys gets it.
To watch mojo it's a sex appeal witch is dumb as hell.
Doctor Doom Since when was watchmojo smart anyways?
lucy rebecca Exactly, even Ridley Scott himself intended the scene to look like that: he told about it in the Alien making-of videos.
lucy rebecca Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
I'd say my current top would be 'Furiosa' - Mad Max Fury Road
James Calverley Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
The fact that you left out Ripley by using that lame arse excuse makes this entire list BS.
Lexi Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
That was beyond lame your reason for excluding Ripley.
+DefCon1966 Great handle you got there Bubba! *I agree feminists by and large are FULL OF SHIT.* Bring me the hate!
+Marchant2 I agree.
She was NOT sexualized.
She was changing into a suit to save her life once she opened the doors to kill the alien.
This is ridiculous.
She should have been #1.
No one can compare to Ripley.
+Marchant2 couldn't agree more
Jeanette Goldstein as Vasquez in Aliens
Vasquez was my first thought for this list. How could they not acknowledge Vasquez, Newt, or the Alien Queen not to mention Ripley. This whole film was filled with kickass non-sexualized females.
Yes!!!
They said cause of Ripley's underwear scene she was disqualified. Which i guess would be the same for Vasquez for the whole scene where Hicks accuses her of being a man even though she's rocking a tanktop with her breasts on full display.
Hudson sir......he's Hicks!!
Michael Kish how can her breasts be on display if she's wearing a tank top? lol
So expect the next list to be "Top 10 Female Celebrities Who Didn't Have Sex Before Marriage?" There's nothing wrong with having sex appeal; male or female.
MrSTVR My thoughts exactly. This is why I dislike the title and what it makes room for, but i'm sure it *was just a innocent* title.
Carlos W. an* .
SevenM Moatasem You had to be that guy, didn't you? You couldn't resist! Hehehehehehe.
I find myself in this situation sometimes.
Carlos W. Lol someone had to do it :)
MrSTVR They're not saying that these women don't have sex appeal; they're saying they weren't sexualised. That means that these films focussed on the characteristics, personality and actions of the women instead of how much a male audience would want to have sex with them
How the hell is Vasquez from Aliens completely missing from this?? Are you kidding me?
nightviolet Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Jessica chastain's character.. hmm, real one.. but ok... Japanese girl from Pacific Rim, giving the criteria of this video.. is fine..
***** What I mean is, it was a movie based around exactly that. A non sexualized bad-ass girl.
***** Your mom, she's desperate.
What the hell? Naked doesn't mean sexualized... you can be fully clothed and be sexualized, and the opposite still stands. Jeez...
Exactly. I thought Major Kusanagi was more sexualized in the Ghost in the Shell Series than in the movie, even though she's naked half the time in the film and always clothed in the series.
Right?!
SandyTheMaster Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Also a little arbitrary, since Sarah Connor has a sex scene in the first movie and somehow that does not count as sexualising the character.
Ripley shoulda been number 1, but wtv. one scene in a tank top, doesnt excuse for the other films in which she kicks ass.
WillPG1212 Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
No Selene from Underworld? She's fully covered up and super-badass.
And I agree with other commentators that Ripley was just plain *robbed.* One scene in her underwear should not invalidate three full movies of kicking ass! :P
+Daniel Björkman second movie sex scene says otherwise
+Daniel Björkman ripley was robbed tho
Daniel Björkman Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Daniel Björkman Selene is dressed mostly in a body suit that highlights her curves. Sexualized.
Jon Forbing Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Let's say Ripley IS sexualized in the last scene, which is questionable...does that discount the way her character is portrayed for the rest of the movie and its sequel?

I said it before and i say it again: Katniss is not a badass
***** She's too soft (really she's only good with a bow & arrow) and has no impact on the plot in the 2nd film.
***** She cries a lot :'(
***** He says she's too soft and you make something else of that statement. Do you realise that?
He said she was too soft and you say:"Oh I'm sorry I didn't realising being a badass meant you can't feel emotions and need to be good at everything". that's changing his words :)
***** I found the Hunger Games fangirl.
list died as soon as you eliminated Ripley for the lame ass reason
THANK YOU!
shes already been #1 on quite a few list. its about time someone else got a chance.. i mean come on it was starting to get annoying that she was always #1.
I think Planck would be #1
preach
Er... what about Chloe Grace Moretz as hit-girl?
+Sun Tzu People think she's sexualized because she's pretty and wears a skirt.
Dracoblade It's a kilt, but yea, she's super pretty.
+Sun Tzu I think that's utterly stupid. Being pretty is "oversexualized" in our modern socioty...
Dracoblade Ikr
+Sun Tzu ...she was 14 when they filmed Kick Ass. She wasn't sexualized by the film because that would have been fucking disgusting..........
Ripley out of the list just for 1 minute scene?
Kittie Payne Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
I m sick of those over-sexualized heroines.
Oh yeah not to forget Trinity! She is great in Matrix. I love her.
And Alice and Salene....
Trinity, Alice and Salene ARE the "over sexualized heroines" critics complain about.
I'm confused that none of the women from Serenity were on this list...
+iEatEmos An excellent point, the ladies from that show were badass and were not sexualized. Admittedly I loved that show and wished they had at least had completed an entire season before cancelling it.
+iEatEmos Because this is about movies, not TV shows.
+Pavel Drotár IT HAS A MOVIE....
iEatEmos Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
River Tam was my favorite.
WatchMojo you seriously didn't need to add in the words "who weren't overly sexualized" into the title. I would agree with your picks just as well if the list was simply entitled "Top 10 kickass female movie characters". But adding that they're not sexualized just seems like politically correct horseshit.
***** Hehe so that means that they're really running out of ideas, huh?
Grishnakh gro Gorbash being sexy makes you weak, because feminism.
***** I don't understand your point. I was talking about one of the core tenets of an ideology; You've just named three people.
You can now add Rey from Star Wars to the list.
And Furiosa...
Star Wars Ep7 was not out when they made this list. Agree on Furiosa though
larrylemson Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
AkityBakity Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Couldn't agree more.
Edgardo Villalba Same here.
Ricardo Gasparini Lage Ripley does have a bony ass.
Auron1Roxas2 Does he? Because I don't see that scene with Ripley as sexualized at all. Unless you consider ANY show of skin sexualization.
Carol Peletier would be on this list if they ever made a Walking Dead movie.
PromiserOfDeath2 Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Sorry guys but omitting Ripley was just stupid
How come "Alice" from "Resident Evil" didn't make the cut?
+Isatu Mansaray Because they showed a brief side boob nipple...
More lists like this please! Women in iconic, hillarious, tearjerking, villainous roles are too seldomly the topic of your Top 10s, sooo many opportunities missed...
Clarice Starling should be on this list!
So a women in her underwear is considered sexual even though, if you watched the film that scene was kind've creepy.... Oh Feminists.
***** There was a couple of big conflicts between gays and Christians in Washington Dc. but you're point also comes into play.
I absolutely love that this Top 10 is on WatchMojo. Great video, thanks!
missing Alice from resident evil though...
zang zang Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Even if you decide to drop Ripley out, Vasquez is so much cooler than at least half of the list.
Another brilliant call and a great stonking ommission again! Vasques damn near takes the whole movie in Aliens, and her turn in Predator 2 is pretty memorable too! Co incidentally both along side Bill Paxton.
Or am I wrong about Predator 2? I think I am.... In which case scratch that. But Vasques still kicks a whole lotta arse!!
Jan Sikorski Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Trinity (Matrix). Ripley totally counts sheesh (she even shaves her head for future films). Gamora (Guardians of the Galaxy). so many missed opportunities here.
Trinity probably did not make it into this list because of the sex scene with Neo in the second movie.
The final act of Alien relies on Ripley's sex appeal? What the fuck are you talking about?
Ripley should've been included on the list. You didn't include Joan of Arc played by Milla Jovovich, Selene from Underworld, and Hanna.

Private Jenette Vasquez from "Aliens"
Pvt. Hudson: "Hey Vasquez, you ever been mistaken for a man?"
Pvt. Vasquez: "No. Have you?"
RobynHarris Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Emma Watson? realllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyy. over chloe in kick ass
The greatest muggle-born witch in history.
Ripley doesn't get to be on this list just because you see her in her underwear, yet a character that everyone in the movie calls "The prettiest blonde you'll ever see" gets to be number 1
what about hitgirl from kickass
I was kind of expecting to see Furiosa and Trinity somewhere on the list, and Ripley not being on the list is just bullshit.
So what is a female character is sexy? Does that take away from ass-kicking? Is this how you value women, by their prudishness or their sexiness? Are those the qualifying traits, the most important distinctions? Ripley should have been number one. Sorry she has a female body.
+MissMiserize Err... no, it just move them to other list that doesn't have "... weren't sexualized"on the title, logic.

Exactly what I mean to say.
Bootsy Swan
Thanks for being a good guy. :)
Where is Imperator Furiosa?
Jennifer Meza Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
My list:
1. Beatrice Kiddo (Kill Bill)
2. Alice (Resident Evil)
3. Ripley (Alien)
4. Black Widow (The Avengers)
5. Evelyn Salt (Salt)
6. Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games)
7. Hit Girl (Kick Ass)
8. Sarah Connor (Terminator)
9. Yu Shu Lien (Crouching Tiger)
10. Alex Munday (Charlie's Angels)
Leia Organa? Black Widow? Scarlet Witch? Hitgirl?
NOT sexualized.
Black Widow was sexualized a lot.
Molly Allen Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Molly Allen Hello, gold bikini-clad slave girl Leia!
Milla jovovich is my favorite. Resident evil.
Kareem CALI OMG! that's what i'm saying, she's supposed to be in the top 5..
She's down to 'wearing' a wafer
Kareem CALI I hate how all of her action scenes are in slow motion, she's not really kickass to me
Kareem CALI YESSSSSSSSSSSSS
Kareem CALI I'm pretty sure she shows her boobs in just about every movie she's in...
who says being sexy and bad ass at the same time is impossible? Apparently Whatchmojo does.
+Levi Matthews way to miss the point
+Kibate Thats exactly what they are saying by excluding Sigourney Weaver in Alien. Her changing was too sexy. Lol nothing sexual about Ripley in that scene at all. Seems like they are turning her into a sexual object to me.
you idiot of course there is but they said of just badassery and personality without treating them a like a sex object
Levi Matthews Totally agree, you should also check out ruclips.net/video/KgZTRnt9znk/видео.html
Yes, this is more like its Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton 65/66:26th September 1956) 👏👏👏
I have seen her in Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) .......
She looks so fearless with her role as Mayor Rachel Wando in Dante's Peak (1997) 😊😊😊
You go girl Miss Hamilton (65/66:26th September 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland --United States of America) ❤❤❤❤
Katniss! KATNISS! KATNISS!
Feminists: Now you took away her femininity!
LifelessGamer98 No thats you and MRA's
LifelessGamer98 get a life
Carlos W. U mad bro!
saeefa I'm not mad, i'm... batman.
:)
haha, the top ten females characters that were over sexualized got 8.5 million hits, this gets 785k.
No Ripley just because of that one little scene? Oh come on, she is a beast in Aliens
By the way, this list is sexist. Are you saying that sexy characters cant be badasses you sexist pigs?
Hermione isn't a feminist character. She's fiction. Idiot.
Imperator Furiosa?
"who werent overly sexualized" makes me think it was impossible for WatchMojo.com to find examples where they were not sexualized at all
LsArts It's femism. You can't appreciate a hot woman on the screen nowadays cause feminists are all jealous.
Carlos W. lol and what's funny is all feminists are ugly as fuck.
Radical Mac Yeah, that's the point. They feel jealous about people who don't look like fucking land-whales.
Samantha Caine (Geena Davis) in The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)
If you're not gonna include Ripley (which you should, as #1, since most of these characters wouldn't exist without her), at least include Vasquez from Aliens. Also, I love Beatrix Kiddo, but no way does she beat Linda Hamilton's Sarah Conner.
Disappointed they didn't include Ellen Ripley, Trinity, Niobe, and Quorra
Good call on giving Crouching Tiger a spot
Ripley disqualified? What shit is this? This is a shit list.
All aboard the PC train!
Forssa1 CHOO CHOO, get on board progressives!
Why are you so threatened that, among hundreds of top ten lists, one of them happens to be about non sexualized women?
Is this politically correct? I thought it was just praising quality writing.
Anneliese Petersmarck no one is, it's just cause people like you get offened by jokes or of women being "sexualized".
Anneliese Petersmarck Why are women threatened by other women being portrayed as hot women who men desire?
Ripley should've been included in the list.
My pick: Natalie Portman as Mathilda in Léon: The Professional (1994)
I'm not gonna try and think of any more female movie characters because your definition of "overly sexualized" differs from mine.
Dude, you really missed some very overt subtext in The Professional if you think Mathilda wasn't sexualized. In the script she and Leon even have sex.
I was talking about the movie, not the script. If you think Mathilda was depicted as overly sexualized please explain.
It's hard to nail down any one scene in the theatrical release, the director's cut contains a scene where she outright says she wants to have sex with him. Here is a fairly good discussion about the topic www.reddit.com/r/TrueFilm/comments/40ap8l/did_leon_the_professional_seem_to_sexualize_a_12/
Oh thnx, I might check that out. I've never seen the DC.
You totally forgot about Hypatie (Rachel Weisz) in Agora !!!
One of the few leading female characters in a big (not romantic) movie who is very intelligent, brave, and without a love story
