My goal with this project is to build a screen accurate Star Wars Clone Trooper costume. There is a costuming group called the 501st Legion which I am hoping to join to better showcase some of my droid projects. The club has strict costuming guidelines which can be found in their Costume Reference Library. I’m going to use that C.R.L. as a guide along with watching build logs of other clone trooper builders to hopefully be inducted into the 501st Legion.
Is this cosplay? Yes, I guess technically it is. I’ve never considered myself much of the cosplay type but as an art major and someone who has always had a hand in something artistic, the idea of building and painting a costume that I can wear sounds like a project that is right up my alley.
Why clones? Why Commander Bow? Simple. He looks the coolest. I don’t see myself as one of those guys who is going to be building 100 different Star Wars costumes, in fact the idea had NEVER occurred to me until I saw a Facebook image of a 501st Legion member as a Phase 2 clone trooper. I was like “Damn, that’s pretty cool.” Funnily enough, the 501st Legion is named after the exact group of clone troopers that I will be building into….the 501st Legion.
In Star Wars canon, the 501st Legion is the battalion of clone troopers who serve directly under Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and later Lord Vader. All battalions of clone troopers are denoted by color, and the 501st color is blue. You can see them all in Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith storming the jedi temple after order 66.
The blue color of the 501st clone troopers is my favorite look of clone trooper, so it was pretty obvious I was going with them, then once I saw Commander Bow’s macrobinoculars I was sold!
Stay tuned as this series progresses and I work towards being an official member of the 501st Legion!
From Wookiepedia:
"Bow" was the nickname of a clone stormtrooper who served as a commander within the Galactic Empire's 501st Legion. A loyal and obedient soldier, he rose to his rank by around the time of Order 66, which Emperor Palpatine used to brand all Jedi as traitors to the Empire and initiate the galaxy-wide Jedi Purge. One month into the purge, Bow was part of a 501st stormtrooper squad that Clone Commander Appo took to Kessel. There, Bow and his fellow troopers rescued the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader from a batch of Jedi Knights who had survived Order 66. Bow and his comrades gunned down Jedi Masters Jastus Farr, Tsui Choi, and Roblio Darté, executing them in mid-battle with Vader. Following the incident, Bow personally filed reports on several of the Jedi victims, and he continued to serve in the 501st after Appo's death at the Battle of Kashyyyk. Наука

@Hunter Mitchell Epic
Can’t wait to see the finished build!
I love your Clone Trooper build !
Your bow looks soooooo perfect and amazing. 😍
Love your builds! Amazing work, both on your projects and your videos. :) Can't wait to for those Chopper print files!!!
Perfect ! Will be great help for my Gree armor
Bro I'm working on a gree! How's yours coming? Do you have an instagram or anything I can see the progress?
@@gabrielh7517 Im going for a fully 3d printed so right know i have most of the armor printed in abs. I made my own models since the ones i found on the net were not accurate enough to me. I started with the helmet but im currently printing a new version 'cause the first one is too big and not accurate enough. During the past months i've had troubles with my printer, which considerably slowed down the project. I think about creating a channel to show it when it's done, with a timelapse maybe idk.
How's yours going ? i hope you're faster than me !
@@Loganhundred I'm using the same kit I got all the pieces assembled and am painting I still need a 3d printer to finish off the belt and radio pack and thigh box
@@gabrielh7517 Nice man, what's your plan for the boots ? I saw imperialboots.com were making their clone boots in black. They would require a few modifications like a plastic strap and some brown paint, but that's the best way ive found right now.
@@Loganhundred I bought some boots of of ebay I just got them and would need some mods and painting but they will do and were under $50
Nice job dude! Like usual, it looks amazing
Awesome vids, keep it up! 👍 I'm loving how Commander Bow is coming out. Really good costume!
Nice I was thinking if you could do a c3po cosplay with a voice box
I think I'm a little too chubby for C-3P0, but that would be cool!
Well you look good in the in the clone trooper outfit
Would love to get the 3D files for radio pack build. Your build is setting the bar for clone trooper armor.
Thanks! I posted all the files last night! Follow the GitHub link in the description to find them, thanks!
Thanks Patrick, cup of coffee heading your way.
@@roguehigh5015 thanks!
Executed with pro level skill! Nice build! I had a question since you deal so much with 3d printed items. What do you suggest cutting a 3d printed item with? Dremel? Heating the blade of an exacto knife?
Dremel is the most common and best in most situations, but sometimes a hot knife works. Id stick with the Dremel unless you have a specific reason not to.
Hey I'm working on my commander Gree and need to print the same radio. I need to get a 3d printer which one did you use and what settings?
Sorry for the late reply, I recommend a CR-10S if you're new to 3D printing. Great prints, great size and an affordable entry level printer. I have one and I love it. You can keep it stock or dump as much money as you want into it for upgrades.
