Lyrics
As years drift by
And future dies.
About all he's done in life,
I'm now an old man,
What have I been in life?
What did I do?
Had no end to aspire to.
Were of hope and intention
Of making his mark
With his plans and invention,
Where did they go,
How could he know how time goes.
In my day had to have
Certain future,
But now you can do as you like,
All that I might have wanted,
Seeking what you're after,
But not for me.
Everything comes to those who wait,
I thought everything may come to me
Made my way only as I was able.
No romances, now bitten today
For they have all his chances,
All too late, no one waits
How time goes by.
Seeking what you're after,
But not for me
Have as my years drift by
Never for me. Видеоклипы

Gentle Giant: to know and to love!
what a band!
Just when you thought you’d heard it all
Kerry’s voice is so beautiful. Derek sounds amazing too. God, I love the Giant so much.
Me too! 🥰
Amazing song. Even more amazing is that the record company let them include it on the album. THANK GOODNESS they did!
Absolutely, fabulous performance music. Thanks so much, Steve. One favourite artist. Excellent sound quality music. Great work. Good time for you
I'm brought right back in time to my first week as a college freshman, in a room full of people who were more rabid about GG than even I was, after having been starved of peers for years who thought I was a weirdo for liking this music. It was surreal.
I like everything of Gentle Giant and about them.
Only vocals and percussion.
How they did what they did is amazing.
Song #2 is also only vocals + percussion (plus a small bit of celeste), mostly tuned percussion.
One of the few stylistic fusions of rock band/choral group/20th century classical percussion ensemble.
Varese would be proud. Minus the singing.
Oh Kerry what joy you bring to me ❤
Brilliant track from a very underrated and complex album
I Love it, Classic Prog musical math !!!! 🎶🎤🥁🎼
God bless steven wilson!!!!
First time hearing this band! Interesting...
Have you got into them?
One of the many few songs in progressive rock that compels an image and feeling of living and aging in a very vivid and exciting way--Close To The Edge being another example though that song uses different techniques to give off those same eerie existential feelings. Love this band
Ashtonishing!
interview was always my top 3 albums from GG. god all of your albums are so great! the visual really add to the song, the fractal kind of thing fits so perfectly
Just got this album on blue vinyl the other day. Sounds fantastic!
Brilliant song, and the new mix really brings the vocal arrangement forward (at least to my ears). Stunning.
Free Hand and Interview have always been my faves.
What's great about this tune (the vocals, in particular) is that back in a day when there was no 'fixing pitches' the way you have it today, you really needed to have a great ear to be able to pull this kinda stuff off -- chord clusters and such -- even in the studio when the pressure's off, for the most part. And that low part Kerry sings panned to the right in the first and second verses -- I wonder if people realize how bloody difficult it is to hit those pitches consistently, especially after numerous takes when your voice starts cracking and has just had enough. Really amazing. Just another Giant thing to marvel at...👍😎👍
One day people are going to wake up to the genius of this band. I’ve been listening to them for thirty plus years and I still stand back in wonder.
Geniaal, wat een band ❤❤
Love this song this and the entire album! It never got the acclaim it deserved tight abstract hard rocking monster this is not a easy listening it demands your attention and rewards the listener who takes the time and opens there ears and mind. A masterpiece performed by the very best, the remix lets you in to hear everything, every note! Thanks! The art is great also!
Amazing video. Thank you!
Great job on the video, Morgan!
Finest song on the album in my view. I am stunned by its creativity every time I listen.
I love it! 💜
this may be my ATF giant track. this and "His Last Voyage" jockeying for position but this is just really bold, really out there. I wish they'd done a few more albums pursuing this trajectory. btw I can't help wondering if they got the main intro back & forth chords from Vaughan Williams Tallis Fantasia. for anyone who has access to a score, it's rehearsal letter M. the two chords on either side of that bar line.
Magnifique !
I love this song! This mix is amazing
Looks like a peyote trip. Mescalito
One of the better tracks on the album because like older Giant .. ( like something of Acquiring the Taste )
How would GG describe their music? Timing.
It was not easy
Amazint song but the AI video is kinda lazy.
Im a big gg fan but ????
But what?
