    I have watched dozens of AT thru-hike documentaries and this is, by far, one of the best I've seen. An impeccable production by one person and should have had way more views. Incredible job!

    Well done documentary! It's hard to crunch over 2000 miles into 1 hour but this documentary has managed to do it and I feel it's very well shot and edited. I did the Appalachian Trail in 2002 and it was nice to see all the familiar places again on this documentary. Thanks and looking forward to your next adventure!

    The Fontana Dam area is where I have lived my whole life, being on the local Fire and Rescue department I have hiked and searched many miles in these hills, some with good results and some not so much. Be safe keep hiking and always remember to help keep our mountains beautiful by picking up trash. I say our because these mountains are a gift to us all no matter what part of the world you are from these mountains will protect, feed, astonish, as well as take your life. Hike on everyone, hike on!!

    • @jpjpjp453
      @jpjpjp453 4 года назад +1

      @@notyouraccount9742 Was actually NOBO March 2018 when i had some serious knee issues after a few days and had to pull off. It was great while it lasted. 2019 got put off due to a work accident and physical rehab, and 2020 is cancelled due to COVID and family issues just days before i was heading to Georgia. As things are i might go again in 2021 but for sure will be absolutely set for 2022. In the meantime, i've switched out my big three gear and made serious changes to what smaller gear i'm using. Still deciding on doing the approach trail again up to Springer.

    Shepherd, this is the BEST AT VIDEO I have watched since I began planning for my AT2021 SOBO. You captured the natural features of the trail, the pleasures and challenges of a thru hike with outstanding video and your narration. I can't wait to start my hike!

    I hike too, but the question I have about this expenditure of time is: How do you handle the logistics and finances of your home while doing this?

      You do what you can. Me, I dont want to lose my apartment so I am sub-renting it for 3 of the 6 months. Paying for the other 3 months, shutting off everything but electricity- which will barely be used- putting a hold on my car insurance, quitting my job, and I've been preparing and saving up for 2 years for this. I start March 16.

      @@Benitojacova 7 days, my hiking partner had something going on on the 16th so we're starting on the 17th. That's fine with me. Ready? Well, a month ago my response would have been "Hell Yeah!" but now, idk. I think I am, just *_extremely_* nervous and anxious. A little concerned about failing, been having self-doubt lately. But I guess thats normal. I'm about as prepared as I could possibly be. I appreciate you asking.

      As I have mentioned before when you have contacted me. I am not eligible. I am not a USA resident. I live in Australia, maybe the accent on the video was a bit of a hint! But thanks for the consideration. ;)

    Ha ha ! I watch all your videos and I must say you are getting a lot of footage out of that pony in Grayson Highland's kicking that poor guy. Don't know his trail name but cringe every time I see that. Now to watch the movie.

      That was the right beer at the right time and place. Damn that Noro virus. It was very common on that part of the trail, I wasn't the only one. Either that, or we all consumed a bad batch of Miller. :)

    How do I like this again and again? Excellent telling of your journey, and Thank You for taking us along. I love the views of the scenery, both of the "views", and the close ups of the insects, critters, and plants, mushrooms, etc. Makes me look even more forward to my future section hikes.

    Great video, thank you. I don't think most viewers don't realize how much extra effort you had to put in to create all of the "hiking past" and time lapse shots. It probably added days to your thru-hike! I section hiked the entire AT over 41 years, and while I have some decent photos from my last 10 years of hiking, I have few videos. It was great to show some of my friends what it takes to cover some of the harder sections such as Wildcat, Goose Eye, Mahoosuc Notch and Katahdin. I also got to see some of the views from all the Maine summits that were socked in when I went through in 2012 & 2014! I hope you can safely continue your adventures. Best, Kerosene (GA+ME, 1973-2014)

    15:36 thats a sweet bunch of Cypripedium acaule. When I worked in the woods of northern Canada, I saw some maybe once every summer and there was one or two, not a bunch like that. this is incredible (to me)
