Looks good! One thing I’d add for any others considering the SPC UCA’s, these actually saved my bacon following my lift because my alignment cams in the LCA’s were seized. Having the adjustable UCA’s allowed me to get my alignment well enough within spec that I could drive around without chewing tires until I had the time to cut off / replace the LCA’s and cams.
Sadly, SPC’s have gone seriously downhill in build quality. Tons of issues with ball joints and X-axis bushings. They work great if your lowers are seized… but as soon as they go, you’re now replacing both your uppers again and lowers!
@@looseaxles I could see that being the case - I put mine on in 2019 and they’ve stood up to some abuse over the years, but it’s also obvious they’re not as strong as some other options on the market. I’ve also heard of some of the issues you’re mentioning, as well as some people outright snapping one of the arms
Love it, going for a similar set up. I ordered 2.5 fox with resis in the front(back ordered which is gunna take forever) and 2.0 with resis in the back and same icon rear spring, also spc arms. 17x8.5 gramlights wheels with 0 offset
I doubt i'll get a reply, which is ok given this is an older video, BUT...... How would you say that the 33s affected your MPG and acceleration? Pretty noticeable, or not too bad? JW because you are still running stock gearing, correct? I'm thinking of getting a 4th gen soon and doing basically the same thing you did, so i'm curious. THANK YOU!
Hey man! With 33’s, there is a pretty little difference, espc with the V8. I’ve ran stock gearing my entire life with my truck from 32’s - 33’s - 35’s and it’s been just fine! Pretty decent hit with the 35’s though haha.
How I fit 33” on my 4Runner : 1. Kept factory offset wheels on ORP (saved money & saved turning arc that eats into clearance) 2. Bought 33” tires and had them mounted and installed on the vehicle
I just bought an 04 and I'm coming from an FJ that was totaled.i had total chaos UCL and icon coil overs and miss the height of my FJ.i I had 34s on the FJ and no rub should have just went 35 but I took the 34s off the FJ and I'm gonna try to use them on my 4 runner but it's gonna take some modifications for sure
Congrats on the new 4Runner! I’ve driven the FJ platform a few times and loved it. They definitely have more room for bigger wheels haha! If some trimming and a body mount chop, you should be able to fit them with a little effort! I’m going up to 34’s soon as well. Excited to see the progress!
good stuff thank you! I recently just did a 3" lift for my 4th gen. I'm planning to get 33's but my dilemma is I have 17x9 with -12mm offset wheel and I've had them since my 4runner was at stock height. I had some rubbing back then at stock height with the -12mm offset wheel, so I heat gunned the front fender to push it in forward and that fixed the issue. I just trimmed the excess off my rear mud flap after watching your vid to prep it for 33's, but now I'm not sure if 33's will fit with my -12mm offset wheel without doing some body mount chop. Do you think it'll clear it okay at full lock?
I think you’ll probably have to cut the body mount down unless you have enough positive caster to clear it (aftermarket upper control arms help with this). Got any pictures? Sounds like an awesome build. I’ll make another video here with our 05 4Runner just picked up and see what I can clear on stock height.
@@looseaxles Tnx for the reply! I don’t have pics, but here’s an unlisted video that I just posted hopefully this helps get a better visual: ruclips.net/user/shorts74dfQm96xKc?feature=share but yeah at full lock my stock tire size seems like it won’t clear a 33’s but man hard to pinpoint! it maybe just a hairline or something!
You can fit 31" 265 70R 17 tires with only a 2" lift spacer in front and pushing the front wheel black plastic fender well forward an inch or 2. Similar look for a lot less money.
I bought my first 4th gen a few months ago. It's got a 3 inch toytec lift and stock uppers. I have 285/70r17 tires and they do rub against the upper control arms when turning. It's very important to get some aftermarket ones.
Hey man, is there any way I could put bigger tires on my 08 Runner if I just did a simple 3 inch spacer lift, I don't know too much about this world yet
Hey Blake! I’d usually recommend not going spacers and instead going at minimum a billstein 5100 lift with OME springs or similar if on a budget. Contrary to popular belief, a suspension lift usually won’t create much more clearance for tires. To fit 33”s, all that’s needed is some trimming and the correct offset wheels. 35” tires are a whole different story!
Thanks man! Just two black zip ties - I found that was the only way to make it work. The mounting brackets that come with the kits are usually cheap and made for different grilles. The black zip ties go around the emblem on the black overlay and hold it tight!
Never a bad word! They are pretty light and built super well. Balanced out great and have never had any damage or issues when wheeling. People seem to love em too!
Hey Jason! Great question. I would like to say the front Coilovers were around 1200 CAD. The rear shocks and coils around 800 CAD. Each tire was around 350 give or take with each wheel being around 300 I believe.
Are the spacers necessary? I'm going to run the same fox coilovers and rear reservoirs with OME 2" spring. Ironman UCA (4 degrees of caster) and Dirtking LCA. I was also told not to go full 3" on the fox coilovers since they will be "topped out and fully extended at ride height ". I'm hoping I can get away with 2.5-7 to be safe
