my point: each event player would be given new setup (keyboards mouses- you would be able to choose). come to lan get new keyboard mouse join to pc with admin watching . i think this would lower any possibility of cheating. also that admins would be able too see which changes was done on pc and stuff like that.
The lack of GOTV interp (or something else, that's what my perception of the issue was) that someone finally documented today on the subreddit is a good example of weeding out all the other fishy stuff so we can have a better perception of whats really suspicious or real-hopefully the community can keep going on in this direction picking apart all the content we have methodically (alongside the more direct cheat conclusions) so we have a more firm grasp of what we're looking at on the server.
I'm not an expert on cheating or anything but I know that stopping cheating at major LANs would be as simple as cutting off the means of actually getting the cheats into the computer and operational for the game. 1. All tournament PCs should be locked in a cage. PC cages are widely available. access to all ports would be restricted to admins. 2. Valve should create a whitelist of peripherals and tell pros "if your peripheral isn't on this list, tough luck, find one on this list". Pros would send in their list of peripherals, and either the cost would be deducted from their winnings and they'd be allowed to take it home with them, or Valve eats the cost or auctions the peripherals off after the tourney. Valve would keep control of these peripherals the entire time. When match time comes for a team, the admin would open the cages, plug in the peripherals, lock the cages and then players would come out and make their desired adjustments. 3. Player involvement in the SSD setup process should be cut. Players should stand over an admin's shoulder and have him set up each drive to their liking. If these steps are taken, I cannot imagine a way for someone to actually get their cheats running without an admin being in on it.
things any tournament organizer should do if they really care about competitive integrity: - keyloggers and hand cams - absolutely no personal stuff on stage (probably is already a thing, i don't know, if it's not, it definitely should be) - get some expert programmers to write a program that supresses the execution of any files on tournament PCs that aren't CSGO, steam and whatever comms software they are using, i'm no expert, but if it's possible to install something before the PC boots, this shouldn't be a too hard to do - actually threaten to fine pros for a shitload of money if they are caught cheating - get some more experts to check mice and keyboards before games (i heard someone say it's maybe possible to hide cheats in a mouse) - all the stuff you and thorin said - and most importantly, stop looking away things valve has to do: - improve the quality of demos (higher tickrate and less "bugs" ), so you can use them properly to review suspicious players/plays - be more open about the time when they caught someone cheating, or where they cheated. (like you said, in the KQLY case, we will never know if he cheated on LAN or not , and valve should definitely tell us)
when my friend showed me some cheats forever ago there were aim assist that would pull over somebody through a wall instead of snapping to them, also you can change the radius as to where you snap to them, like you can put it literally the same size as your crosshair and it would control your spray/tap them out whatever you wanted it's actually quite amazing what you can do
some of the pros could have a phone in their pocket or an apple watch set on vibration and as you said someone in the crowd could be providing them information, so valve could ban pros from having anything on them when they go on stage, this would be like the first step to a fair gameplay
its simple to mod a mouse to contain an LTE/4G receiver and storage device that can connect to the internet and download and install a cheat silently when you plug the mouse in. Its also pretty easy to consider that there could be collusion with LAN staff (offering someone 10 grand to look the other way is a pretty easy prospect when there's 100k on the line)
I thought about this, a sneaky way to cheat. Have somebody in the crows be on his phone, get him in teamspeak, make his name the coach name, so it looks all legit. And he could give info, and it would look legit. Even if coaches weren't allowed, do it with a player, and they would only have to have a player not being on ts, but it would be worth it for the info.
The vibration cheat would be OP. The IGL doesn''t even have to tell anyone else that he's doing it, he can just position only himself in the right sites/locations, and it would seem natural.
"You just gotta keep the pressure on until something actually gets done" SO MUCH THIS. Keep putting out these videos and putting attention to the issue and maybe finally one of these companies like ESL or Faceit will step up their anti-cheat measures for LAN. Not watching this game anymore until that happens. There's no point in watching until then.
finally somebody said it. just go to a lan, stick 2 phones in ur pockets, one left, one right and turn em on vibrate. sit ur brother in the crowd and have him text ur left pocket if they are going A, right pocket if they go B. u get the info they are coming A, u tell ur B guy to walk push it (for example) and then all of a sudden u have an alibi for stacking A. honestly u could do that so easily if they dont even check if u brought any additional phones. not even like u need to do that in every round, just a few key rounds that will net you a clean 16:12 victory. nobody would suspect jack shit. and u could do that on the T side for example when they are saving or what setups they run as CT or whatever. it would be so fucking easy.
Ever watched the movie casino? In that movie, two people cheat blackjack or poker (forgot which), by attaching a vibrating device to the leg, which vibrates when the other presses a button.
There were people saying that e-frag was cheating by having a guy in the front row and he would put his hands on his knees when dignitas was rushing (not sure which tournament). Could be a coincidence though.
I don't think any clips can be used to prove 100% a pro is cheating. Clearly more needs to be done from the developers and tournament orgs though. It's really to great to see a pro themselves respond quickly with a video like this.
Okay, it's just a little thought but I'm curious about the coach's laptop. If he gets to mess with the traffic since he seems like the most "free" person in the booth with the players. He's standing behind them ect. so admins check him less too. It'd be complicated but definetly doable to say the least. I'm not saying Project Cocaine FTW but fuck it, man, I would set that thing up in the ko1n and his friends way. The whole team can play with silent with a low fov even psilent if it currently is a possibility. Nothing on the players' PCs and a lot of potential. Risking a coach isn't that big of a deal compared to risking S1mple, fallen or any of your superstars. Obviously it's made with cables so I don't really see a way for anyone being in the crowd doing this shit from their phones. So there we go. Might be stupid, might seem impossible but nothing is impossible until you tried and failed. I'd honestly go and try just for a ticket and the money for taking days off from work (controlled enviroment ofc.). Just make 2 admins try this and code some simple, basic stuff that only reads so you don't have to spend nights coding something you won't use. Log hard, investigate hard, use 120fps handcams lined up with demos and make those cunts fall on the big stage.
I worked at Fraud & Detections at Blizzard(The Warden anti-cheat system) and System Securities at Riot for 2 years & tried reaching out to Thorin but I didn't get a reply. Work at Epic Games now as a Systems Engineer
idea just like that if valve are to lazy to hire real expert and put real interest on the cheating factor of the pro scene , if they can hide a device in their mouse or keyboard they could just give all the player the same type of mouse and keyboard that they are using just for the game (and they can't carry it around before and after the game a tech would be in charge of that)
you know how like every team has a keyboard/mouse sponsor. get the sponsors to force the players to use there latest model or some bullshit so that they have a new mouse almost every lan. or better yet make them use a new keyboard every game/ tournament. sponsors need the pro scene to stay legitimate so they can make money (sorta)
i think the reason why VALVe doesn't buy out cheat coders isn't because of $$$ , i think is because they're scared that the cheater might keep doing the bad and dev'ing even better and more exclusive cheats for players WHILE WORKING AT VALVe.

Cheating at a valve major would actually be easier than cheating on esea if you think about it. They don't have background programs constantly scanning and monitoring your computer since they don't want the possibility of anything interfering with the computers. You can bring your own hardware, which in all honesty it isn't hard to splice a usb splitter and run a tiny flashdrive in series with the circuit card. Shit a smart enough electronics technician wouldn't even need a splitter, they could add the drive directly to the circuit card and boot it alongside with the mouse drivers. There already is cheats that are activated with hotkey combinations and you could easily activate it during pregame warm up, you could even use pregame to verify your aimkey is working. But the thing is, this would tarnish the reputation of valve beyond repair. The majority of their tournaments are funded by sponsors, if you think valve puts out 100% their own cash at majors you are mistaken. The reason so many professionals are cheating, is purely the fact they KNOW valve won't do anything about it, EVER. If valve ever did, it would forever change esports, and with how much its evolving lately goodluck on anything changing for the better. I'm just an average person with an electronics background, and I could easily create a lan cheat, now imagine someone with extensive knowledge.
I think this is why if valve does know if KQLY cheated at lan they will not release the information. Thorin brought up a good point about having a one time amnesty for the cheaters and letting them know that if they cheated again they would be banned. Rather then expose them right away and possibly damage the scene.
What I don't get is couldn't they use key loggers to see which keys are being pressed? With all these videos claiming aimlocks, if they had key loggers couldn't they compare the demos with the key logging data?
That is an interesting view point i have never really thought of. Although i would have to guess that if the better coders came in to beat the current coders (theoretically now working for valve) they would charge more then the previous and so on. After a certain point it would become so expensive that it would not be worth it for a player to pay that much money to cheat to win what is now a smaller amount after paying his new coder off. Then again this would probably only become the case after a few waves of valve hiring more and more new coders which i do not see as being as realistic as a one time amnesty hiring. More so important in opinion is that the players them selves take a large risk in trusting these coders. What is to happen to a player if the guy he used to pay for cheats is now working for valve. Say his ex coder does not expose him, do you think he has the balls to risk it again and trust another coder who may in turn eventually be working for valve again in the future and may not be as forgiving as the last. I dont know i dont think i would, but i also would not have the balls to do it in the first place. Just look at what happened to m0e when he tried to get cheats for ESEA. The coders who were helping him have since released videos exposing everything he was doing. Such as a video of him trying to understand how to use the cheats.
Side note: I would also assume that more high end coders have many available jobs and more money to be made elsewhere then coding cheats for a video game. This could be complete bullshit as i know nothing about coding, their jobs or how much they make. It is merely surface speculation.
I think the easiest way to "cheat" or rather "get info" would be to put someone in the crowd that gives lightsignals with a FLASHLIGHT to the coach. As semphis described like : two flashes equals "go b" or whatever ... some kind of code. I mean obviously there are thousands of people in the arena making some kind of lightsignal when the r taking pictures n shit ... but imagine someone near the players and the coach giving signals with a very untypical colour like ... green or some shit .. who cares ... I think those unremarkable signals can easily be converted by the coach to gain information and give it to the players. Btw I dont think anyone is cheating right now either ... however even if... its not the role of the community to jugde or punish them in any way. greetings from germany and english for my sorry
Semphis, Cloud9 and TSM both used custom unreleased Logitech mice at ECS. How do Tournament organizers test these devices for cheats without having a reference mice?
I think it would be really nice if you have to start another client to be able to play csgo. Just like ESEA, valve should work togheter with ESEA, VAC is just to bad, because you dont need to start an extra client.
do you think there's a possibility guys are cheating without knowing they are cheating like their manager is putting the cheats on for them? I know it's pretty far out there lol
If you don't think anyones cheating go watch the LG/SK cheating clips +confirmed today that cold is using a 1/1 custom mouse Idk if confirmed cheats but it's pretty sketchy

things valve has to do:

If Valve decided to give cheat developers money, in hopes of them laying off their business practice, would most likely be counterproductive.

Semphis, Cloud9 and TSM both used custom unreleased Logitech mice at ECS. How do Tournament organizers test these devices for cheats without having a reference mice?
They don't. They should get em straight from the companies (Steelseries, Logitech, Razer, etc.), and put them into storage until their match starts
the name of the title tho... thoughtception....
they can inject cheats through the steam workshop
no you fucking can't, shit was debugged along time ago
When is this 2015 early, they fixed that ages ago m88

I think it would be really nice if you have to start another client to be able to play csgo. Just like ESEA, valve should work togheter with ESEA, VAC is just to bad, because you dont need to start an extra client.
do you think there's a possibility guys are cheating without knowing they are cheating like their manager is putting the cheats on for them? I know it's pretty far out there lol
how would they have no idea... the manager doesn't get a computer as well as far as I know..?
+G2NCONTROL they just slide by and stick in a usb that gives them a little aimlock
I lost it on ''There are a lot of people on reddit that seem fairly intelligent ''
Thats a stupid logic... Until you know where a leak comes it is impossible to figure it out .....
Thoughtsception
If you don't think anyones cheating go watch the LG/SK cheating clips
+confirmed today that cold is using a 1/1 custom mouse
Idk if confirmed cheats but it's pretty sketchy
