    I don't care what anyone else said about this fan made movie because it was really nice to see old friends from my youth, sure it didn't have all my old friends but enough were present to bring back some really good memories. And to all my old friends who have gone boldly on to explore man's final frontier in the after life ,you are missed here but one day we shall all meet again to explore even the Heavenly realms. Star Trek will forever be remembered just like the people who helped make it a reality because you can't destroy an idea that Star Trek helped create. To all who reads this post may you live long and prosper.

      @ttacking_you I read somewhere that they wanted to do this as a final official TOS film. Nichelle Nichols went to Paramount to pitch the idea, but Paramount refused to do it. So she and Walter Koenig raised the money and did it themselves as their gift to the fans. This was THE film that turned me on to fan films.

    • @ttacking_you
      @ttacking_you Год назад

      @@darrylgonzalez5251Well you see? I feel, to properly taxonomize the sub genre of fanfilms, one has to eschew ANY industry insiders at all strata of production. It sounds to me like this was merely a movie that couldn't find a producer, viz, its an independent film. To mislabel it as a fan film, I believe, is reductive.

      here's how that worked/works: Gene Roddenberry insisted that they use prototypes of scientific accomplishments that would eventually be in production. So they partnered with UCLA to get in the cutting edge of scientific inventions. Watch Spock hold up a mini floppy disc in 1967, watch a Motorola flip phone become a communicator. Watch the door be opened like motion activated grocery store doors (20 years before they became a reality). Watch a phaser shoot a laser bean, ...well,.. like a laser!😉

Klatu told the Earthlings, "I am not here to help you with your petty problems. I am an envoy with a message, "Don't bring your aggression out here, or we will turn your planet into a burning cinder." "
      Interesting.

      A lot of Trekkers may not know this fact, but at one point in her career, Nichols was ready to quit being on StarTrek as Ulhura. The late MLK spoke to her and told her, " Please don't quit being on this show . You're a role model for thousands of young women, and your impact is larger than you realize ! " Her character opened many doors to many women in careers that they never imagined were possible - engineering; computer science; and being involved in NASA ! Truly, she was inspirational as an actress and an amazing human being!

    This was done with thoughtfulness, noble ideals, philosophical depth and deep pathos by great icons of the Star Trek universe and all done on a low budget but made believable by wonderful actors and great script writing - JUST LIKE THE AMAZING ORIGINAL SERIES. Bravo! Brava! Standing ovation! The cheap shortcuts on effects are an additional homage to the original series and stand as a compliment rather than a detriment.

There is one more clause to that statement: "...and shall lose them both." I think it's a quote that needs to be remembered for the U.S. of 2020.

      In all honesty too many people focus on the budget and the big expensive CGI shit. Yes the acting in this isn't great, but for what it is suppose to be, and in what part of Star Trek time line it is suppose to represent, it fits. TOS when viewed today is as "bad" as this. However it's an interesting story.

      @Doodlebugdude 9 лет назад +1

      The first two series of TOS were brilliant. From series 3 it went down with awful writing. There were lots of political stories desguised as science fiction dealing with what was happening in the US at the time. This is just shit. Hope nobody is offended by that.
