@ttacking_you I read somewhere that they wanted to do this as a final official TOS film. Nichelle Nichols went to Paramount to pitch the idea, but Paramount refused to do it. So she and Walter Koenig raised the money and did it themselves as their gift to the fans. This was THE film that turned me on to fan films.

"This is *not* your grandfather's Star Trek!" Literally the next scene: Walter Koenig, from your grandfather's Star Trek. Seriously, though, this was delightful.
@@carlosoliveira-rc2xt he was only under-rated by those who didn't appreciate him. That says volumes more about those who under-rated him than it says about Walter Keonig.
You believe characters from OG Trek is demonstrative of being one "grandfathers Star Trek"? Mmmm well, Im sure theyre red in. The face when they cast Whitney and Nichols too huh? Yea. Thats not the sentiment genius. Was the narrative, the production... were they akin to the 60s Trek? No? Oh ok.. see so, thats what theyre referencing when theyre saying its not ones Grandfathers Trek. Sorry you dont understand such a rudimentary ideology.
Hey, just wanted to let the people who did this know --- this old school Trekkie adored this! Nichelle Nichols shines; Walter Koenig shows his depth (again!) Tim Russ is steady and true; and in its own way it truly is wonderful classic Trek; moral fiber intact. Well done Trek Renegades. I am honestly impressed.
@Leo Peridot So, the special effects are cheap. Everything is pro except for the stupid special effects. Can't you enjoy a good story if the pew pews aren't realistically looking? That's why the main commenter of the whole comments section employs the term ADHD.
Epic story made on a shoestring budget. I never thought about a showdown with Charlie X and Gary Mitchell combined with a "what if" scenario, but it was a lot of fun. The cast seemed to enjoy themselves
This was done with thoughtfulness, noble ideals, philosophical depth and deep pathos by great icons of the Star Trek universe and all done on a low budget but made believable by wonderful actors and great script writing - JUST LIKE THE AMAZING ORIGINAL SERIES. Bravo! Brava! Standing ovation! The cheap shortcuts on effects are an additional homage to the original series and stand as a compliment rather than a detriment.
..I wish I felt the same way as you about the original series. I tried to watch it, couldn't. it was too slow. this, however, was wonderful! ..I'll probably try again at some point..
This ist simply the best Star Trek movie since Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country. Beats everything from the Next Generation to the new JJ Abrams Trek. Thank you so very much for bringing back some real Star Trek! And besides: May the force be with you. Always.
Finally a dozen years later in 2020 I finally saw a pic on pintress of this motly crew and had to check it out. It may not have a high production value, but still a fun romp to see some old faces reprise their unforgettible roles. Thanks for not giving up on this and seeing to the end to share with all of us.
The best fan-film I've seen in years! I applaud CBS/Paramount allowing fan-films again, but it's a real shame they feel threatened by fan-films with actual Star Trek actors.
No REAL Trek fan would thumbs down this. I Loved it! What a treat seeing legends in a new story. AND what an interesting story! Thank you to all who made this
I personally really enjoy seeing the old actors in a newer role regardless of budget. It's got the old star trek feel and you don't need a big budget for that. I also appreciate that it has a positive feel unlike a lot of the more recent official releases.
Thank you so much to everyone involved. Whatever this effort lacks in budget is far, far made up with love, passion and heart. It seems that with every passing year there is less and less of this in mainstream films. Thanks again!
Nichelle Nichols looks as georgeous as ever, and without makeup for later scenes, Walter STILL looks like he could be jockeying the old bird! Am I also noting several bits of "crossover" between the other ST fan venues? Phase II and ST Continues for starters..
So the better part of ten years after posting, first time I have even heard of this movie. Gonna rewind it a few times to catch the parts I missed, but damn this is fine work. Congrats to all of you.
NICE! Major blast from the past. Emphasis on blast and lots of it. Not perfect but close enough for a lot of fun. Almost teared up when Nichelle Nichols starting that singing that ole Charlie song. Nice to see a trip back to the Guardian too!
This was fun; so many nice touches. T'Pring performing the wedding ceremony; inspired!! It's so great that people are keeping Trek Alive. Many thanks to Renegades and especially Tim Russ [you're a genius!!]
Pavel's quote "Anyone who would exchange freedom for security deserves neither..." is a quote from Revolution Era America. I believe it was Thomas Jefferson. There is one more clause to that statement: "...and shall lose them both." I think it's a quote that needs to be remembered for the U.S. of 2020.
I preferred older Trek's emphasis on quoting Classics more than Americana. Wider appeal, greater endurance, far less likely to keep changing fashion just to keep up with changing times. techcrunch.com/2014/02/14/how-the-world-butchered-benjamin-franklins-quote-on-liberty-vs-security/

I love this film. It shows what happened to the cast, Kirk is in the Nexus, Spock is an ambassador, Scotty is crashed on the Dyson sphere, McCoy is a soon to be admiral, Sulu is captain of the Excelsior, Uhura is a possible captain, Chekov is becoming an admiral. So many other things like, Kirk's relative commanding the Enterprise M, a constitution class saucer separation, the crew in the M wearing the old uniforms, the possible Q Charlie, and the Guardian of Forever. Way to go guys!
The only two missing, the original Gary Mitchell and the original Charlie Evans, the movie was very good from one who grew up with the Original Series and the spin offs, I am 65.
As a Trekkie who was a Trekkie before there really were Trekkies or Trekkers, as the case may be, that is since Thursday evening, September 8, 1966, when I was 12 years old and watched THE MAN TRAP on our Admiral wooden cabinet black and white TV, I can say that this was really pretty good, but it isn't what I would have made if I had the ability to do something like it. That said, I did enjoy it and thank you for it.

I just found this...i read somewhere that the guys that were planning on doing renegades did this and i looked it up. If this is ANY indication for what renegades might be like, there might be some very very very faint hope for it. The movie it self, regardless of budget was awesome, i wish Star Trek would keep to things like this. I loved almost every moment of this.
+Bojan ‘The Black Rag’ Ljukovcanin Renegades is amazing if you look past the lack of a 20+ million budget. Don't believe the vinigar TOS fans bring to the table ;-)
In all honesty too many people focus on the budget and the big expensive CGI shit. Yes the acting in this isn't great, but for what it is suppose to be, and in what part of Star Trek time line it is suppose to represent, it fits. TOS when viewed today is as "bad" as this. However it's an interesting story.
The first two series of TOS were brilliant. From series 3 it went down with awful writing. There were lots of political stories desguised as science fiction dealing with what was happening in the US at the time. This is just shit. Hope nobody is offended by that.
From what I'm reading in the comments section this was done on a very low budget....Which is quite obvious....But if the actors did this for little or no pay that makes it even better...Good story....Very reminiscent of the great story ideas of the series franchise.....Well done !
Always been a Trekkie since day 1. Never heard of this episode. Absolutely loved it. Wonder why they didn't take it further. Uhura and Chekov were both great. Thank you for sharing this. Came at just the right time.

yes the low budget, u see in all the 80s cgi, and how the crew looked like from al larp convent...
Been a "Trekie" since the '60's and this movie was a delight!
More Please! May I have another?
Thanks for posting, despite all the criticism I found it entertaining! Love all Star Trek!
I dont care about the special effects, I watched this on a tablet but how great to see all these people again !
Great indeed Chris! We invite you to subscribe to our newsletter for more content at atomicnetwork.tv/!
I am both extremely sad and extremely happy that I stumbled across this today. Sad because I never knew that this existed. Happy because this is a FANTASTIC movie. I am amazed at how well this was done.
I found it late last night and couldnt finish it til this morning it was so fun i always wondered about charlie
I like it too it feels like old trek. Works for me
How do you think I feel by just now finding this 3 years after you? Yeah I'm a fan (not a fanatic, but still a fan) that has DVDs of all the original series and Next Generation along with the movies that followed. But it is nice to find this movie before this old man goes to another dimension. 😊
"This is *not* your grandfather's Star Trek!" Literally the next scene: Walter Koenig, from your grandfather's Star Trek. Seriously, though, this was delightful.
Walter Koenig shows here that he is an underrated actor.
Star trek the motion picture
@@ussarng4649 As a Trekker since '66, I FULLY agree!
Excited about the next Renegades production -- no more reality TV -- I'll watch these gems on line.
I'm glad the fans are keeping the spirit of Trek alive. Sure, it's not pro stuff but their hearts are in the work. Great effort!
I glad that the actors from these shows care enough about the fans that they'd give their time and efforts to these projects.
Not "pro stuff"? Huh?
"More than 50 film professionals (all Star Trek fans..."
say you're talking out of your arse.
better than the current crop of 'trek'
A really low, low, low, low, way down there, bottom of the barrel type of budget!!! Holy shit....
..I wish I felt the same way as you about the original series.
I have to watch this every couple of months; just for the nostalgia. Really good. Thanks to the Renegades for making this.
No REAL Trek fan would thumbs down this.
I Loved it! What a treat seeing legends in a new story.
AND what an interesting story!
Thank you to all who made this
How could anyone thumb down this video . You can see how much everyone put true effort and heart into this . Good job !
On flat earth this would’ve not happened
I personally really enjoy seeing the old actors in a newer role regardless of budget. It's got the old star trek feel and you don't need a big budget for that.
I also appreciate that it has a positive feel unlike a lot of the more recent official releases.
Thank you so much to everyone involved. Whatever this effort lacks in budget is far, far made up with love, passion and heart. It seems that with every passing year there is less and less of this in mainstream films. Thanks again!
TO ALL WHO MADE THIS. TTTTHHHHAAAAANNNNKKKKK YYYYOOOOUUUU!
Nichelle Nichols looks as georgeous as ever, and without makeup for later scenes, Walter STILL looks like he could be jockeying the old bird!
Am I also noting several bits of "crossover" between the other ST fan venues? Phase II and ST Continues for starters..
Thanks Ron!
This probably has more stars in it than any other fan made movie and is clearly a labor of love,, very well done folks!
I had heard good things... but WOW. Script alone this is an A-list feature!
I like you just for the jinjo avatar.
My congratulations and thanks to the entire cast & crew. I can't believe I just found the Renegades!
Actually a GREAT movie. I really wish they would bring back a good Star Trek series like this....
And finally they did 🤩
@@seanrambarran2323 Actually didnt. None of the new series are any good.
@@jacobw446 Strange New Worlds. The fans consider it the best so far. It's what they asked for.
Man oh man. I appreciate the love on display here for Star Trek. What this needs is some scene blocking and a proper cinematographer.
awesome , for those who don't see the spirit for which this was made, i'm sorry for your loss ... well done ... thanks for the nostalgic look
Awesome! Loved the cameos from the original actors. The _real_ Charlie and yeoman Rand and others. Fantastic.
I must've been in the wrong timeline to miss this back then.
Was 14 when Star Trek came on the scene.....now, pushing 69 am still hooked on anything Star Trek, and will be until it’s time for the long nap.
I was blown away by how wonderful this film was. my all time favorite now!
They got some pretty solid past cast members in this. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I look forward to Renegades.
The acting is unbelievable! So incredible. Thank you, professionals for giving us your all.
Manescu Lauterbach holy crap Tpring
Wow. This is pretty good. Much better than I expected. Thanks for the upload.

Fun. That's all I can say...This was fun. Thank you all for this passionate film.
Thanks!
Well done. Glad to have 'discovered' this.. Never get enough Star Trek!!!
~ As I have discovered in life, Charlotte, there is no such thing as "enough" Star Trek. In my own travels I have discovered a race known as the Unenlightened who scream that there is too much Star Trek and those of our race who clearly see that there is too little Star Trek. "Live Long & Prosper" : ) ~
+Daniel Brensinger Agreed!!!
+Daniel Brensinger there will never be enough star trek... im watching season 2 original serious right now.. in star trek we trust..
I love the feel of the production work, it's like it was just a continuation in the storyline of Star Trek
I must say I enjoyed this more than some of the couple of the original ST movies, Uhura acting and story line was mindblowing, feeling very nostalgic how the heck that I didn't know about it?
I feel like I'm late to the party as I've just found this. I'm only about 30 mins into it, but I must say that I'm completely enthralled. I'm finding this enjoyable and satisfying in so many ways.
So far 30 minutes in,I've seen Nichelle Nichols, and Walter Koenig from STOS, and Garrett Wang, Tim Russ, & Ethan Phillips of STV.
@@earlwyss520 & Alan ruck.
Thank you, Richard, we're poured our hearts and souls into making it for you. We're so glad you enjoy and appreciate it.
Better late than never, I fell in love with Star Trek when it was new in 1965, I was just 5 years old...
God bless you 🙏for saying something respectful to star trek
I been watching Star Trek since the original series way back in the 66's , (Iwas born in 1959) this is pretty good , much respect and love to the actors and all who put such hard work n time into All the Trekie movies and tv series over the years !
'61 Vintage myself, dad controlled the TV,(of course), and he was an original Star Trek fan. Probably why I started reading science fiction. He would have loved this.
LOL I think my dad would have enjoyed it also, He would tell me remember what you see because on day we will have it.. I think in someways he was right..
@@cynthiamerrick2335 Have you seen Star Trek- The Borg? It's another fairly well done fan film. I started tracking Trek fan films and saving the best of them.
No I have not , Until recently I was not doing youtubes or anything that fell into watching on the net.. my dang computer went up and was awhile before I was back on so I am way behind in so many things right, But I can believe there are good shows,, esp if the people working on them care about the show more then just trying to do one trying to please everyone . like going out on a limb just to go out on the limb not because it really has a place in the show.
@@cynthiamerrick2335 You ever wondered if maybe a few years after the show was cancelled, a few NBC executives were quietly taken to the back lot and shot?
@@55Quirll lol me too!! Been a Hard Core Trekie from day one!! This movie is pretty epic.
Is the Kirk relative gay ensign from the Fire and Blood??
@@EM-pw9tr no that's actually Capt. Kirk on that episode, James Cawley. Very good in his own right.

If you don’t enjoy this you won’t “live long and prosper”. Loved everything about this film!!! 😘🤩
Great to see the classic actors from several shows in action again, in any way possible.
I just saw this movie today (May 18, 2020). Thank you to everyone involved in making this production happen. I think it is fabulous and brings back memories as a pre-teen watching the original series! I very clearly remember that time machine fifty years ago. Much gratitude to you for your endearing "labor of love".
Once again, thank you for sharing this Star Trek movie on this format. Thanks to the writers, director, and all the set crew as well as to the many original ST cast, DS9, Voyager cast, and the Trek fans who brought us this movie! Thank you.
Watched star trek all my life and this was no disappointment in any fashion...a work of art!!!!
love it...not the best writing but it was acted very well. The all-star cast carried the show with their awesome skill
Just found this and it's awesome.
Can't stand what "Star Trek" is today.
This just proves that a movie can be awesome even with low budget.
Bojan Ljukovcanin Going by the trailer for Renegades, it looks to be an improvement over this.
Stephen Jackson I'm not going to waste any more time watching this. It's awful.
Jeez, some of the better choreographed space ship battles I've seen in a Trek film, great dynamic and good characters to boot as well.
From what I'm reading in the comments section this was done on a very low budget....Which is quite obvious....But if the actors did this for little or no pay that makes it even better...Good story....Very reminiscent of the great story ideas of the series franchise.....Well done !
This is really, freaking wonderful! As a life-long Trekkie, I am honored to have watched this.
As a lifetime Trekkie, I really enjoyed this movie. Thank you.
I love this!! Really captures the feel of original Star Trek Tim Russ is a GENIUS.
I grew up with Star Trek, but haven't been following the franchise lately, and wow... 2008...?!? Good show, as the Brits say.
Always been a Trekkie since day 1. Never heard of this episode. Absolutely loved it. Wonder why they didn't take it further. Uhura and Chekov were both great. Thank you for sharing this. Came at just the right time.
Wow i like how they actually got most of the Original Cast from the Movies and TV shows. Walter Koenig - Chekov, Nichelle Nichols - Uhura, Alan Ruck - Capt. Harriman, Garrett Wang - Harry Kim, J.G. Hertzler - Martok, Gary Graham - Soval, Tim Russ - Tuvok, Ethan Phillips - Neelix, Cirroc Lofton - Jake, Grace Lee Whitney - Janice Rand.
now can you write the names of the same actors and their new characters names please? :D
Great
