The toy gun is a pop gun. The pistons fly forward pushing out the air. When new, it would have two corks on strings hanging off the end and you put the corks in the end and the gun would go "pop" when you pulled the trigger, but the corks wouldn't fly away. Of course the strings get cut and then the corks get lost and then you find out how good mud works... Ah the 60's (and earlier) when toys were toys.
I was going to put my 40 ford 1/2 ton on a ranger frame, you have changed my mind, going to keep the truck the way Henry made it. I haven't found anyone around me that will do a flathead rebuild so until I do I have a early 289 that was in a local schools shop class back in the 60's. Thank You for the inspiration to keep it old skool cool.🤘
@@Mercmad I agree. Get you a good flathead instruction book and read it and then get started. Easier than any OHV V8. I learned on Ford flatheads helping my dad work on his race car and I was intimidated when I did my 1st OHV. : )

I think their restraint comes from, like Matt said, "Lack of money"! But I'm sure if it was one of those, I've got to get this moments, he would be making a phone call or two, ha haa. Love these guys, they are really living the dream.
Hey guys, thank you for sharing the fun with us. Makes for a great way to start the day over hot coffee. You’re making great memories with your amigo Mike-life is short, live it up doing what you love 👏👍✌️. -Juan in Virginia
Matt , MAN YOU LUCK DEVIL FINDING ALL OF THIS SWEET STUFF ! I doubt anyone could much stuff like that here in Kansas ! As one hardly sees Old Hot Rod around anymore !
Morning Matt & Mike, man, ya'll are living the life of Riley!! all this cool stuff that you guys find in your travels, I'm sure through your channel the 36 will be connected with a new buyer, I realize you can't bring home everything that you come across, that would drive me nuts. The secret junk yard you mentioned will be very interesting, can't wait to see the video! Be safe...God Bless!!!
Thank you for sharing this with me ! I have been trying to fix up a old 54 International 1/2 ton pick up , a 50 1/2 ton pick up and a 57 4x4 Willy's Jeep station wagon most of them still have the original equipment with them ! Been thinking about selling the International ! Take care , stay safe and healthy with whatever you guys maybe doing next ! Doing well here in Kansas . Oh there is a extra engine and a floor shift transmission that would go with the International pickup ! Needs some body work on it ! I bought in North Dakota while in the Air Force and drove it home back in 1981 !
Sweet rides, great sound on that Blown Flat head... Nice haul of Parts.... When room is an issue, time build bigger garage.. In my case I wish I had any sorta garage.. I would have it full. Happy Thanks giving, safe travels
Ya know, Matt. I think you would be the kind of guy I would love to sit around and talk cars and drink beer with. But after this haul, I know you can not afford beer hahaha
I was in my early twenties when I heard my first blown flat head and just marveled at the sight of it nestled in a 1940 ford pickup. The owner claimed over 300hp. I actually wonder what happened to it because this was in the early eighties at a outdoor hotrod show
@@jerrylong381 at least you can still work. I couldn't do it anymore after I was 46. I did injections in the spine for years, then they quit working. My doctor put me on some medication that f'd me all up. I couldn't see straight, couldn't drive and there wasn't no way in hell I could do my job. I was a crane operator and I loved that job, but there was no way I could do it safely and I was not going to try. I could have killed a lot of people if I were to try flying large, extremely heavy things way up and precisely place them. Anyway, I am truly sorry for your pain because I know it. Enough about me. Geez, this is about "Iron Trap Garage", haa, so you take care and let's continue to watch and support Matt & the guys. Bye.
Matt if it is where Brian can he should take it upon himself and get the 1936 Cabriolet running good and then take his mom out for ride’s in the car to make more memories with. To me the car would be worth a million dollars just to see a smile on my mom’s face knowing that she would be enjoying the car once again.
I like that Dear Santa! That car sounded cool. That car was like the one in the 70s movie. Paper Moon! I liked that move when I was a child I liked to look at old history and old stuff it really gets my mind going. Guns will KEAL Keep Everyone Alive! Guns save lives. Woops the dark part was when you took a nap? LOL The tri carb set ups wow man so nice. How about the quad set up?
I heard “Banger” mentioned when Mike was working through the shelf stuff. I listened twice but could not make it out. As you know, I am into 4 banger stuff.
Two Holy Grails in as many weeks; It's a slippery slope into the Iron Trap! (And you didn't even make it to the swap meet?) Some great scores from the Parts Dept., and of course, the '36 Cab. is a honey. Hope it goes to a good home. (I may be biased; have a VERY long term '36 coupe project...)
Built a model of that ' 36 in the 60's when I was a kid, then found one hidden in a neighbor's back yard. I used to visit it hoping someday I could buy it. Still have a picture. You got me thinking here....how soon do they need to move it?
Nice. Sure wish you guys had more subscribers. Would love for that '36 to make it to Pennsylvania. 2 million plus subscribers is 1500 bucks a day .. give or take a few hundos. Let's make it happen !!! Some chick who lives in her van gets 2 million subscribers .. .. but the coolest hot rod & hot rod archeology channel has 88k. There is no justice in this world. 🙄
The 36 was beautiful. The t was cool and sounded wicked. But those front facing spindles and tie rod are scary. Bet that thing is terrifying to drive. Way cool but yikes
@@redzula Correct .I had to take a second look to see and it appears that the builder got the arms on the wrong sides. If they were swapped over and a longer tie rod installed ,it would solve that problem, if the diff is open drive that is. I bet the understeer at lower speeds is crazy.
You find some really neat sh...t lol. Message me if interested in a virgin front axle. Think its a 20's-30's 6" drop but not well versed in ID'ing these parts. I was accumulating parts for a '27 T-touring rod and health issues stopped it. I can send pictures if you tell me where.
That 4-71 blown flattie sounds MEAN !!! And so crisp, wow !
That 36 is going to make someone very happy. Wow 👍

The 36 Ford, is probably the most beautiful car Ford ever built. Very nice car!
Dave..how bout 50's TBird's?
@@iamrichrocker lots of Fords are good looking, but to me the 36 is my favourite. My uncle had a 55 Tbird, nice car, but I’d take the 36 any day.
36 three window or roadster ,stock bodied really are great looking cars.
Even the 4 doors look good.
Owned a 36 five window, and all 36s are nice. However imho none of Fords creations out do the 1940 Fords.

I don't think I've ever seen a supercharged flathead. Cool
That blue T is perfect!, looks like a real old ford and not a 70s fiberglass street rod.

17-3/4 is the perfect number of engines for 1 man.
