Glug , Glug , 😊, Glug , Glug!!! Sounds like one hard pulling pulpwood SumBitch. Imagine having this as your alarm clock, you would wake up every morning in a great mood.
Sure wish i would have saved every Flathead that i could have gotten when i was a kid. Id see scrap haulers with beat up cars , with still running engines getting hauled off. They usta be common around sawmills being used as skid powerplants. Id enjoy listening to them in a hard pull. That gurgling sound is just so mesmerizing

Year's ago all you could do with one of those engines was used them for scrap or as a boat anchor they we're valuable for anything else. Now their becoming a priceless item once again. I personally Love the Ole stuff, so simple and straight forward, back in the ole days just about any one was able to do work on these ole babies, they were such simple machines.

A neighbor of mine raced flatheads on the local dirt track circuit. I ended up with a modified 37 Ford 6 window coupe. Needed an engine, so my friend tutored me in flatheads. I picked up a flathead block and assessories. It was on a bench and I was trying to remove the valve assembles out of the block with the valve pry bar . They were really stuck. One in particular I was really prying on finally broke loose, flew half way across the shop and crashed threw one of his windows. He also tutored me in window glass replacement.

I have never been a flathead fan until finding your channel a few years ago. Out here almost all the flathead engines are useless. I heard a ratio of 1 in 10 usable blocks. The flathead I had in my '51, when I was a kid, used so much water I had to drive from gas station to gas station to get anywhere. I am warming up 'cause they look and sound cool.

Good luck and many thanks for all of the great fun videos of the popular rods, customs .......and flatheads! You da man! And I must add that you are such a knowledgable and talented young man in this subject! I must add also that my first job working on a flathead race motor at 11 years old was scraping the gasket and Permatex remnants off. That was when we soon learned that aluminum paint sealed great and came apart very easily. I have built lots of race motors and never had aluminum paint leak or be hard to disassemble.

One thing that speeds up the water jacket cleanout is to put a shop vac on the larger holes to pull the debris up after you break it loose from the bottom. I've had rockers, cowls and roof bracing that had mouse nests in them, and no way to access them except for holes at either end. I was chasing mouse crap and dust back and forth with an air gun, and putting a mouse dust coating on the whole garage until I thought to adapt the shop vac hose to the far hole, and shazam! it was clean in a jiffy. Since then, I've used it on water jackets and other situations where I need to corral dust, and it sure speeds things up! And less mouse crap dust inhaled!

Matt, since you sell on eBay and buy off of eBay, you need to see if you can find a hand held tach & dwell meter. They hook up to the battery and the side of the coil that goes to the points. That way you can set the idle on your engines correctly. Without guessing.

This motor is way too cool. As for stuck heads. Especially aluminum stuck heads. An old mechanic friend of mine, who is now long gone, used to work on prewar Rolls Royce motors. When he encountered a stuck head that hadn't been off since it left the factory he used 'clothes line rope'. Clothes lines were something that your grandmother had in the back yard. Anyway. He would feed clothesline rope into the spark plug holes in each cylinder. Once he had as much as he could get in, he then put a ratchet or breaker bar on the front of the crank, and turned the motor over. The rope would push the head up and not damage anything in the process. Looking forward to the first drive with this supercharged motor.
