Just reminding that "WE" are the government. "WE" and our actions are our Society. AND we have to use our artistic ability to reimagine ourselves into a new way of being.
Officially approved art was required to follow the doctrine of Socialist Realism. In the spring of 1932, the Central Committee of the Communist Party decreed that all existing literary and artistic groups and organizations should be disbanded and replaced with unified associations of creative professions. I was gonna say that, I doubt they'd be against dependency on the government if it included a universal basic income. Depending on the state for your income is far worse than whatever pretentious nonsense the speaker was on about.
Making art won't scare my government, it will just give them a reason to arrest me. At least I don't live in the UK. Under the Terrorism Act 2000 you could be charged with terrorism for saying just about anything.
@@thehappy_spearman1389 It does, because they don't always act on the law, but the law allows them to arrest you if you "express an opinion or belief that is supportive of a proscribed (terrorist) organisation". That's formulated vaguely enough to make it unclear whether an opinion that overlaps with a terrorist organisation's opinion is an offence or not. The problem then is that a terrorist organisation is not a terrorist organisation for just their opinions. Taking the RIRA and National Action for example we find plenty of topics where your opinion has to overlap with one of them. I thought it wasn't that bad until a vague acquaintance of mine got arrested on multiple terrorism charges for no reason, so I looked all the offences up in the terrorism act 2000 and it was pretty shocking to see what they could arrest you for. They won't probably, because they have no reason to but it's still scary to see the government have so much power to wield against ordinary citizens.

or they are just short of cash in a global pandemic and need to make cuts. to make it in art in a 1% business, i.e actually benefits a small number of people. QED is always the first thing a government will cut funding for. if you are not good enough get a job and join the drones
There's a difference between cutting funding and actively trying to convince the population that art isn't feasible, though. I'm not in a position to make a lot of money on music, but I can also do more musically than most people I meet. It's been my life goal since childhood. Should I give up on the meaning of my existence and the source of my fulfillment just because I've been dealing with mental issues my whole life? Seems more like I should try harder.

Acting like money is more important than one's sense of inner well-being makes you automatically dependent on forces you cannot influence.
