    An aftermarket carbon fiber spoiler could be your “fix”

    A little too late for you, but I have always attached pool noodles or foam pipe insulation to my garage door struts and supports where they can strike the car. This has not prevented me from ever closing a door on my cars, but it has certainly eliminated any damage.

    For what Tesla charges for the paint kit, it should look flawless but it looks like any cheap touch-up paint kit you can buy for

      Small world! I think it was one week into ownership with my Model Y and I took a turn to sharp and scuffed the rear passnenger side wheel pretty good. I may attempt to fix myself! TSportline makes a paint for Tesla wheel touchups.

      @@Cosmic_Nick Thank you. My DIY skills are sadly lacking. The thoughts of doing it my self is a bit scary. I am looking to get someone to PPF and then a ceramic coat. Hopefully after that even I can't damage it.... Famous last words.....

      @@DOB27011966 I am doing a full frontal, side skirts and rear bumper PPF on my MX. Going in for that in two weeks. Trying to limit road time so nothing happens to it between now and then. If I decide to attempt a wheel DIY I'll make a video for it so you can see the process.

    So I applied mine today. I layered it over and over before doing the next step, I’ll be using a 2000 grain sand paper to water sand the excess. I’ll gently hit it with the blender and see what happens.

    At first I thought that only mine looks gray like color. Then I found everyone have the same issue and the color looks sucks. How tesla can sell it if color doesn’t match at all. Will try some cheap ones at least make white color as white.

  • @bartverhaagen

    It is a complete different shade. Think you should have gone with dr. Colourchip or Chipex

    • @Cosmic_Nick
      @Cosmic_Nick  Год назад +1

      I was going to originally go with Dr. Colourchip, but read that the white paint through them also would be slightly off. So I just opted to stay with Tesla's. Touch-up paint jobs are probably always going to be less than ideal if you are going to DIY!

  • @brentryczak

    Honestly I am shocked at the blue tint of that. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned about cars it’s that no one but the owner sees damage like that - everyone else just sees the car for what it is 😍. Protecting from further damage is the best benefit here.

    It appears your version of "white" didn't match. Compare the four-digit alphanumeric paint version on the repair kit box (to the right of "White, Multi-coat," with the same paint version on your car's registration plate (in the driver's door). They might be different because apparently Tesla used different variations of "white" as the years of production and factory sites changed.
