You are actually a very knowledgeable person when it comes to touch up. I’ve been in the business for 25 years and I really thoroughly enjoyed your videos. You really know what you’re talking about. You are someone that really can help real people understand on how touch up really works great job dude.
Started using needles for very precise touch ups and stone chips 20 years ago. Depending on what flow rate you want you will find it less problematic if you thin the paint more than normal before filling syringe. Thicker paints and if you set your syringe down for a bit and then come back you will find the paint has dried in the needle neck. Do not apply more pressure to force the dried paint out. If it does dislodge you will shoot a stream of paint under high pressure at whatever your were aiming at. Best to just put a new needle on. If you do set the syringe down and its going to be for longer than a minute or two, you need to pull gently back on the plunger to pull the paint out of the needle and back into the syringe saving yourself from using another needle. Another way to open the needle up and start paint flowing is to take a lighter and apply the flame to the needle barrel aiming the end away from you as once the dried paint reaches a hot enough temp it will shoot the blockage right out the tip. I would use another needle head as first choice. You have to play with the needle but you can get it to flow out at a controlled speed so that no pressure needs to be applied to the syringe plunger, this is desirable when filling many rock chips, you do have to keep up which isn't that hard if all your chips are prepped and ready for filling. Sometimes the chip may require a second application but usually once fills it precisely.
Larry I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your products. Ive been using your products for 4 years now and my cars are in incredible condition and all I can say is thank you

I've had great results when touching up paint...I let the touch up dry for a few hours and then go over it with a pad and compound. The compound and heat from the polisher really smooths out and blends the touch up.
Omg LARRY I am obsessed with all your Ammo car products so mild and gentle on my brand new 2020 Range Rover Velar your Hydrate paint spray is the bomb!Thank You for making excellent car products!
Great job! Judging from the video, you can get ALL of that dent/collision damage done by a skilled dent guy, and I'd recommend doing it before the touch-up. Most of it is PDR-able, with only a little push/pull to paint. No bondo, filler, nothing. All you need to do now is touch it up where necessary.
sooo glad your wife has a subie!!!!! i detail these cars all the time at a dealership. i use your techniques constantly. your training vids have changed they ways i clean and detail my cars. keep em comming bro. maine weather makes me want your products... maybe someday i can afford them
Mix the clear and paint together instead of trying to add the clear later. It blends nice and looks better. You can wet sand lightly and buff and virtually make the chips disappear by doing this. Don't overfill or underfill the chips this is the key. Takes some practice but be patient doing it. Toothpicks have always worked for me or a very small craft paint brush.
I don't understand his way of fixing chips and scratches in the paint with his method. When you fill the chip with paint you should let it cure for a day or so and then sand and/or compound it to level it out with the surrounding paint and then Clear coat, cure, level and buff.
@@bodeine454 10 ways to skin a cat. Obviously there are good, better, and best ways to fix a chip. These paint/clear bottles will never be the perfect fix as its not a 2k clear. The paint can be a shade off if your cars been beating out in the sun for years etc. Nobody is doing a full respray and blend job on a rock chip. Very few will ever wet sand and buff after a fix. Mixing the clear and paint and applying it level looks decent enough for the average joe.

Can't wait for every needle and toothpick on amazon to start costing 15£ each, like it happened with the Lowel Cornel paint pens when Larry used one on a video.
Larry I’m sure you have experience with PDR guys but that dent is easy to remove. Issue is you’re gonna need to repaint a couple panels to make it as close to perfect as possible. At that point traditional body work can take care of the dent. Just depends how much cash you want to throw at it. Repainting body panels with blending will run about $600-700 each, like you are always saying the newer technology is water base paint. Once it’s painted and dried (usually an IR lamp) its cured no need for further out-gassing of the paint.
Working with base colours compared to silver or metallic paint is very different. The paint you applied on the Porsche you shown was perfect thickness and went on fine, but compare that to the thin, runnt and half transparent metallic paint on the Subaru and you can see a difference. The metallic paint runs more, giving a finish closer to what you could apply with the pre existing brush compared to anything smoother. I reccomend an airbrush to apply your metallic paints with, and doing multiple thin coats. That way, there's no hrd line between the original coat of paint and the touch up as the larger, feathered finish of the airbrush would help the transition, furthermore, the thin layers would stop paint running and build up. So, needles for anything but metallics, and airbrish for anything metallics.

The wheel arch looks great the only thing i notice is the dent in both the door and wheel arch. That looks amazing as a touch up....wish i had that talent
You should use a double sided tape you can get different thicknesses and if it’s good to hold license plates then it should be good to hold that bit of a trim.Glue can be messy and a pain to clean up.👍🏽
I filled a paint chip on a horizontal surface with touch up paint mixed with rubbing alcohol. That diluted the paint enough to lie flat in the chip. But when the alcohol evaporated the remaining paint was completely flat. With some practice this might have more potential.
One thing I found really helpful when I was touching up my car after I got it was using the tips of a foam paint brush. It put the paint on flush and looked great vs the rusty spot on the car. The best part is it paints on the car but since the edges come to a point on both sides it's excellent for really small nicks and scratches and they cost less than 1$ at home depot so you really can't go wrong. The best part is it totally eliminates the "runny" look that a the needle seems to leave and my car look 100x better than when I bought it. I would love to see you try these out in a video sometime and see what you think. The only bad part is that since it's a sponge you need to be very careful how much part you put on the brush but if you use just a dab is come out looking amazing and from 5th away you can't even tell my chips are there and my car had some big ones that you could spot from 30ft away before :P
PDR Tools Long Rods through the Door and panels for the Dents and maybe a Tap pen and Rubber Hammer for the Crease to Gently Reshape, its Time Consuming However those Dent Wizard Guys are Amazing , Like that Dentist Looking- Pen thingy that is CooL... Tooth Picks work for the Stone Chips I have also used q-tips for some light paint tapping that also works around Fenders ...
When I saw a video of you doing touch up with pen on that yellow 911 I tought well I will try this with needle. And it worked and you have a variety of gauges :)
Where can I order the wheel detailer thingy where you placed the wheel on the stand and rotated it. Man send me a price and ordering instructions. Thank you
So I had to look hard at the video but it looks like its from a company called Glossboss. But didn't see any on their website. glossboss-shop.de/ But, I did find this. thesourcegarage.com/
Great videos you have!! And even referring to videos from years ago! Excellent work. Keep up this great work, you're the best out there! Would you use bondo or a primer as well before touch up ?
First time stopping by here, really well documented process and you guys seem to have a product for just about everything when it comes to car cleanliness. I do have two questions though: 1) So primer isn't needed when applying touch up to small areas? Stone chips are usually down to bare metal, I know these scratches on the Subi weren't as deep but is primer really necessary for bare metal chips? I know it's a protector and adhesive for the paint but... It's tough to go and buy so many different canisters of products for some small chips. 2) The syringes/needle heads have to be disposed of after one use? You mentioned to put them away safely for disposal... Not sure if you meant disposal as in cleaning but I'm thinking you meant throwing it away. 3) Bonus question, is goof off relatively the same as Goo Gone?
Looks like great stuff. Can you tell me what the mix of de-salt and car soap is? how much of each? how far do your bottles go? how many would I need for a 4 wheel and under clean 1 time? I might try it now post winter. Thank you!
Will a wax pencil ruin the paint if it's left on for a day? I circled all the flaws on my car and been working on it all day and I would like to start back up tomorrow but wasn't sure if my wax pencil would stain or something in the sunlight? It wipes right off with rubbing compound now.
Very late to the party here. In the video, you mentioned there would be a follow-up video re: sanding. Is there a link to that video? I've got a custom bicycle that got a chip in the paint--4mm x 2mm--in shipping. The original painter sent me small touch-up bottles for the paint (House of Kolor) and a clear coat (PPG). Since the bike is new, I'm really trying to achieve a touch-up that is barely visible. As for touch-up tools, I bought some micro applicators. That seemed a better idea than the brush that comes in the paint. I had planned to wet sand the paint after two layers had been applied and then repeat as necessary. Then the plan was one final wet sand of the paint before using the brush in the cleat coat touch-up bottle to apply a thin coat of the clear. Can I wet sand after each coat of clear or after 2 coats of clear? Or do I rely on polishing after the last coat to get a nice finish? Also the House of Kolor paint is a metal flake base coat, and the color is Burple. I dig your informative videos.
I'm supposed to take my Jeep Jl back to my dealer soon to have rock chips on my rear fenders and doors touched up by a mobile painter. The thing is she is only available on Thursday's and the temperature outside has been around 50ish degrees and under and their has been humidity in the 70s and up on every Thursday this far. Are mobile painter able to paint well in these conditions? I'm worried that if I take it to get painted in these conditions that the finish product won't turn out well. Any input from a professional would be awesome. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Some OEM touch up paints already have a needle. U need to paint as gloss works for only a few months.
Lmao you are a perfectionist you can hear it all in your tone. Great job and thanks for this video
When I saw a video of you doing touch up with pen on that yellow 911 I tought well I will try this with needle. And it worked and you have a variety of gauges :)
... What's the jack you used ,I can't seem to see it listed below/link 😁?. Big love from across the pond
Any tips for applying touch up paint during winter when you don't have a garage? Wait for a warmish sunny day?
Probably best to wait for warmer weather. Hard to do touch up in the cold
1:15 It's adorable that your "mid-winter" temperatures are in the plus 5-10C range, that's so cute.
Been a while I want to see that kind of video and there is some good ideas. Thanks mister !!
What kind of clear is that with the foam applicator? I have never seen that. Thank you
When I saw touch up paint and a syringe, I knew I had to see this video!
Love your videos brother. Thanks
Hell is be mad ass hell if someone even touch my car, a whole scratch would make me cry, love the energy in this video :))+
Where can I order the wheel detailer thingy where you placed the wheel on the stand and rotated it. Man send me a price and ordering instructions. Thank you
Ditto. Google search for “wheel boss” doesn’t show anything like that as of March 2020.
So I had to look hard at the video but it looks like its from a company called Glossboss. But didn't see any on their website.
glossboss-shop.de/
But, I did find this.
thesourcegarage.com/
and it's $200+
Hi Larry I over your technics and enjoy your videos keep them coming
Excellent video, great info. thanks for sharing. Cheers
What needle size did you use? Another great vid. Thanks for taking the time to make them. :)
Plan3tBob yeah same question I recently used the green one and it works perfectly
A plus video. Informative and great editing
I do have two questions though:
1) So primer isn't needed when applying touch up to small areas? Stone chips are usually down to bare metal, I know these scratches on the Subi weren't as deep but is primer really necessary for bare metal chips? I know it's a protector and adhesive for the paint but... It's tough to go and buy so many different canisters of products for some small chips.
2) The syringes/needle heads have to be disposed of after one use? You mentioned to put them away safely for disposal... Not sure if you meant disposal as in cleaning but I'm thinking you meant throwing it away.
3) Bonus question, is goof off relatively the same as Goo Gone?
Great tips thank you. Is it advisable to polish it after applying clear coat?
Awesome work, tips, and vid as usual. Keep up the awesome work!!!
Ah, all the cool gadgets :D I need those wheeled undercarriages for my wash buckets. They're too heavy to keep carrying around.
What do you recommend on door edges? My 911 has a few chips ..Thx !! By the way i love your products!!
Wow. ‘‘Tis is a whole nother level.
Man I wish this music genre would die. Great vid for the rest :)
