    1. fill stone chips with black paint
    2. White hardener on black paint
    3. Allow to dry for 24 hours
    4. sand with mirca

      exactly that file tool is the key and what I was searching for years. without this tool it is almost impossible to reach the same result. i already did that in the past with like 5000grid sand paper but it is not working, you uselessly remove clearcoat in the surroundings of the spot....whereas with this metal tool and with the correct technique of holding it on properly on the surface of the car, and work it on the paint chip very gently, i can see this work to actually be in my reach.
      1 point I wonder however is why car manufacturers are selling color and clearcoat in 2 different bottles. I mean they sell this for end customers right ? not for car body professionals... how is the average car guy actually supposed to do this kind of work properly at home with tthis little paint brushes, like if you are..painting something. its almost certain that this will end up in a mess. its like asking for trouble lol I bought a lot of this "touch up kits" but never went to the clear coat step... always felt like this second step would do more mess than anything else...

    Very nice workflow got all the ingredients now together including the mirka file
    In case you mess up with the file and scratch the surroundings do you rely on a compound or polish or would you even go so far to rough sand it… which is probably still less aggressive than rough sanding the spots to begin with…
    Does it make sense to dull the file when it is brand new?

    • @Amddetailing
      @Amddetailing  Год назад

      If they are cut deeper, then it is the same for filling, there is no way to save it, and it does not need to be dulled, the sharper it is, the more evenly it removes

    Hi, I used about same method in the past filling paint than a bit clear coat on top than wet sanding and than polishing and the bonnet looks like new painted so I know this method works!!! your method is less heavy on the paint, but you don't use clearcoat but hardener, can I also just make the mix of basecoat and clearcoat? or should it really be acrylic and harder? the degree of gloss then very much depends on the mix. I have already watched many other scratch repairs and videos from your channel but could not find the answer here.

    • @bitterNDsweet
      @bitterNDsweet Месяц назад +1

      When I ask for 2-component paint "for stone chips", my carpaint shop always mixes some lacquer to the base paint. So I get one can of paint (with lacquer) and another of hardener. Unofortunately I don't know the paint-lacquer ratio. 2:1 or 3:1 perhaps.

      I also have a silver car and I can confirm that this method does not work for silver color. In general this method is applicable to colors that are not metallic, and that does not have sparkly particles in them. Normal "simple" colors such as red, black, white (especially) are the best colors to apply this method. If you do not have much marks it is better to use just dr.colorchip and be fine with the result. If it is much just save up your money and pain the whole hood instead of spending 40 eur for this scraper, then anther 20 eur for touch up paint and other details. I did same mistake and ended up painting the whole hood. If I had my knowledge right now I wouldnt even try to do this method and keep my money.
      In general video is very helpful and well made tho.
