This is easily the best stone chip repair video on youtube. Nice work.
nah
Awesome video! Great professional work.Congratulations!
Tnx friend
Wow! Amazing video! What a transformation. Thank you.
2nd, maybe 3rd time watching this video. Definitely the best rock instruction I’ve seen.
Amazing job !! I appreciate your thorough explanation on how to repair stone chips! I look forward to repairing the chips on my SUV, thanks to your video!
Out of general curiosity. Did you end up doing your stone chips? And if you had to do them again tomorrow. Would you still be excited? Heh. I remember first time I did it, I was pumped. 6 hours later I was no longer excited to do rock chips lol. Ever. 😂
Finally a great video on how to do this properly. Greetings from Canada.
Tnx friend
Can't wait to Spring to do this now ! Thank You !
Svaka čast majstore, stvarno odlično.

Amazing paint chip repair. Thanks for sharing your experience and expertise.
Thanks for being so OCD, in the name of every OCD person ever. That's not only skill and love for what you do, but devotion and a little sickness (the good kind! 🤪)
For the people asking about the tool to remove the excess paint, it's a denibbing tool or nib file.

Thank you

Excellent work! Thanks for your video!
That's a wicked job mate I've never seen it dun before, very impressing, mint job👌
Tnx bro
Would have liked he did other colors to compare results, black is cake and easy to hide imperfections.
WOW! Incredible work, sir. 😎👍
Incredible results!!!
Tnx my friend
Never knew i need this Mirka tool until now. I am not even going to touch up any paint, i just find the tool extremely cool.
Very good tool😉

Cao.
Uzeo sam bazu (bez laka), lak i hardener posebno. U kojoj razmeri da pomesam bazu i lak?
Lak i hardener se mesaju 2:1.
2:2:1 (baza:lak:hardener) mozda?
Mozes li mi reci kako se zove spric kojim nabacujes boju? Ovih dana razmisljam kako da sredim rupice na haubi i slucajno vidoh ovaj kanal. Mirka turpija se moze kupiti u Srbiji i vec sam nasao... Hvala unapred!
Great video
Definitely has given me the courage to do the stone chips in my suv
What compound did u use for final polishing ?
Thank you keep the videos coming
Great job! Where can I get a sanding block that you're using? I live in the states and have a nice patina on the 50 yr old paint I'm fixing chips on. The car has not seen sun for over 34 years being inside a building so the paint is in fairly decent condition but having shop rash (scrapes) to correct. Thank you
Great job!
Great video mate 👍
Less is more when it comes to the music tho 😉
I appreciate the video brother
Thank you
Wow! Amazing work. Thx for sharing
Tnx and enjoy
Top work and keep it up. I have a question. If I order black metallic paint with pearl effect, the clear hardener is included separately and not incorporated into the paint. Could it also work as below or is the loose blank separately a problem for sanding.
1. fill stone chips with black paint
2. White hardener on black paint
3. Allow to dry for 24 hours
4. sand with mirca
Again amazing job and thank you for sharing! your video's are superb! love watching them every time.
Tnx frien and enjoy im my cannel
What type of acrylic and hardener do you use
@@davidcronhelm4804 standard acrylic and quick heather (dries in 40 min)

Awesome job friend. Great info. Question. How did you get that good soooo shiny. It looks totally awesome.
Amazing work! Congratulation.
Tnx friend
Thanks. Showing the filling tool was key in this video for me. Awesome work. 😊
exactly that file tool is the key and what I was searching for years. without this tool it is almost impossible to reach the same result. i already did that in the past with like 5000grid sand paper but it is not working, you uselessly remove clearcoat in the surroundings of the spot....whereas with this metal tool and with the correct technique of holding it on properly on the surface of the car, and work it on the paint chip very gently, i can see this work to actually be in my reach.
1 point I wonder however is why car manufacturers are selling color and clearcoat in 2 different bottles. I mean they sell this for end customers right ? not for car body professionals... how is the average car guy actually supposed to do this kind of work properly at home with tthis little paint brushes, like if you are..painting something. its almost certain that this will end up in a mess. its like asking for trouble lol I bought a lot of this "touch up kits" but never went to the clear coat step... always felt like this second step would do more mess than anything else...
Is the clear coat being mixed in with paint common with most German vehicles? I have a Lapiz blue 2018 Golf R with some stone chips and am curious if I could follow these steps for a similar result. Great video!
Thank you! I love your videos :)
Tnx friend and enjoy 😉
if this vehicle had a clear coat on to of the base coat, you would apply the clear before polishing ? or is the a other procedure ? thank you , amazing content ......... great video
Great info. I'm going to try it out. I'll come back to repost after my results. Thank you
Tnx
Amazing video amazing results 👍

So gooooood!!! 🥳🙌🏼
great video sir. helped me a lot. what is the name of the polishing compound?
awesome job
Dang good video!
surprised by the results! does this also work on cars with tinted clear coat?
I have learned a lot, thanks!
Tnx and enjoy
Well done 👍🏻

Excellent 👌!
Fantastic
I have small rust spots where the paint chipped what primer you recommend ?
Solvent based
Thanka!!
Amazing repair thanks for the video - @Amddetailing some of the comments below say this does not work on metalic paint, is that true, also with the Mirka tool work with touch up paint high spots or is the paint too soft?
Thank you SO MUCH for this video.
My case it is a bit different. Instead of rock chips I have clear coat damage for splattered bugs guts. It is a 2010 Lexus with 56k miles.. The paint is coming very nice with the paint correction I have done but the damage is an eye soar. Do you have a technique for that kind of damage???
That nib file is ingenious. It was good enough to leave it as is after that. Obvs we all would still polish, but still
Yes, you're right
GREAT video!
Tnx my friend and enjoy

Thanks for the advice! Not so impressed by the Merceded orange peel paintwork 🤭
Frist class skills, I never wanted stone chips but now I am looking for some to repair 🤣
You can come to England and repair mine. Just took it to a paint chip place and they said they would have to take the whole hood off and repaint it. The damage is no worse than the ones in this video
عالی بود. موفق باشی!!!
Well done
@Amd detailing
Very nice workflow got all the ingredients now together including the mirka file
In case you mess up with the file and scratch the surroundings do you rely on a compound or polish or would you even go so far to rough sand it… which is probably still less aggressive than rough sanding the spots to begin with…
Does it make sense to dull the file when it is brand new?
If they are cut deeper, then it is the same for filling, there is no way to save it, and it does not need to be dulled, the sharper it is, the more evenly it removes
@@Amddetailing do u have the link for the Mirka file an that pen nib thng u use buddy
Great job though 👏👏👏
Very high level of work and experience
Tnx
Nicely done amazing results
Will this scraper work with all touch up paints?
Yes
Hi, I used about same method in the past filling paint than a bit clear coat on top than wet sanding and than polishing and the bonnet looks like new painted so I know this method works!!! your method is less heavy on the paint, but you don't use clearcoat but hardener, can I also just make the mix of basecoat and clearcoat? or should it really be acrylic and harder? the degree of gloss then very much depends on the mix. I have already watched many other scratch repairs and videos from your channel but could not find the answer here.
When I ask for 2-component paint "for stone chips", my carpaint shop always mixes some lacquer to the base paint. So I get one can of paint (with lacquer) and another of hardener. Unofortunately I don't know the paint-lacquer ratio. 2:1 or 3:1 perhaps.
Hey great video! I have one of those files. Are there paint colors that this exact method will not work on? Like paint that has flake/pearl in it?
Love your video's !!
Have à questions please🙏
Can you tell me if the polishing go after waching it or not ?
Many thank's sir and thank's for sharing it
Yes polish after filling and sanding
Wow I never knew of this type of process for repairing road chips on paint ? Re: the paint acrylic is that something I ask for when ordering paint ? And do I order through dealer or online through aumotive supplier idk the results were awesome and looks easy just hv to take my time as you were saying.
Jhn corona, ca
Greate technique best RUclips, why does we need acrylic paint and just hardener (and what is the % amount between two?) and not CC and paint. What you think your technique in the time will last. Greetings from Greece
Impressive!
That’s awesome
Tnx friend
What grid of the compound and what pad did you use to polish the hood after sanding? Have you gone with heavier grit to remove the sand marks and then lighter grit to remove swirls and holographics?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.
Great job
Tnx
How do you approach this task if you have separate base coat and clear coat? Do you mix together? Thanks
That was bad ass!
Wow absolutely amazing
Tnx and enjoy
I definitely did
Genius!
beautifully done job :) and it would be fair to say that with the right tools, every job is easy ;)))
Nice job 👌. So I have a bmw sapphire black metallic. I ordered the right color from a dealer and also got the clear coat. How will I proceed with this. Or is it better to find acrylic paint like you used?
Amazing work.. Where do you get your paint from? That's been the headache for me is where to source good quality paint that you don't have to be a repair shop to purchase!
the paint we buy, we buy it at a car and paint store, according to the code found in the vehicle's service book
Ok i regret not seeing this video before trying something myself xD I removed rust mechanically the few places where it was rusting, added primer, paint and lack. But i am not really happy with the results. It is still really obvious where the hole is since i only filled in excatly on the holes. Do i need to remove it or can i simply add paint on top like you are doing in the video? the hole is not filled, and the paint seems to shrink in volume a lot when drying.
super!
Thanks for this video. The tool works great on your car! I bought one today but I found that the edges of it keep scratching my paintwork even when holding it really lightly, do you have any tips to avoid this? Thanks!
A hard sanding block with a 2000 or 3000 grit would give you the least damage to you paintwork, if you have already messed it up just polish it with some cutting compund with some elbow grease it should be there
@@amritbanerjee thanks, that is what I ended up doing, the scratches are much lighter but still slightly visible. I might wet sand it when I have time but just a bit hesitant about going completely through the clear
@@aqilrafi you should practice on junk yard panel, then after practicing, you can work on your car paint. good luck
Perfectly!
Tnx bro
I’ve ordered one of those mini files. Expensive for what it is, but it looks like it does the job you need it to very well. I have a silver car with many stone chips on the bonnet, so hoping the chip repair will improve matters enormously! Thanks for the great advice!
silver color is difficult to do, darkens when filling
@@Amddetailing still nicer than the rockchips itself
@@Amddetailing I can vouch for the silver darkening when filling. So glad for your comments, as I thought I was doing something wrong.
I also have a silver car and I can confirm that this method does not work for silver color. In general this method is applicable to colors that are not metallic, and that does not have sparkly particles in them. Normal "simple" colors such as red, black, white (especially) are the best colors to apply this method. If you do not have much marks it is better to use just dr.colorchip and be fine with the result. If it is much just save up your money and pain the whole hood instead of spending 40 eur for this scraper, then anther 20 eur for touch up paint and other details. I did same mistake and ended up painting the whole hood. If I had my knowledge right now I wouldnt even try to do this method and keep my money.
In general video is very helpful and well made tho.
How do you get on with your repair?
Very good video. This process is impressive. I have the original red metal paint kit from Audi. With this kind of paint is it also worse mixing paint and clear varnish ?
Yes
@@Amddetailing thank you
Question, when i buy a touch up paint from a paint supplier can i add additional hardener to get it to dry faster ?
Will this work with vertical scratches, like on the side fenders??
Where can I get that little sander that you flattened the chips with?
Wow, this is great, what is the scraper called? Thanks
you make this look to easy. im sure it is for you. I have never done this before. so how difficult woulld you think it is, for a noob?
do you need to do a paint decontamination or claybar first ?
