Great comparison. The new SP is a great bike, somewhat comfortable, only weighs 420lbs and handles great when you lean forward and get a little more weight on the front tire. Pretty affordable too. I just wish it had better wind protection. Its pretty brutal at 80 mph and up
Have standard 2024 MT-09 in Cyan. Wasn't sure if I liked the styling on the SP from before the launch but now I've seen it more I think it's awesome. Great looking bike. You are right, only SP can switch off rear abs, mine doesn't (you also get track mod/theme).
My heavily modified 2020 SP (optimized weight, power, brakes, suspension, tyres, aestetics, aerodynamics) is ultra-fast on any serious mountainpass and gets many favourable comments at the petrolstations. If a gen 2, then the SP plus a number of mods - then you do no need to change for the gen4 SP. Newcomers however should start into the MT09-world with the gen4 SP.
Ive got the base 2024 MT09, I've noticed as i key on the display will change between the basic "Yamaha" logo and the MT logo, have u noticed that on yours as well?
@c0ndu Not necessarily too much. Just different delivery. You need to get the power out of the top end. Where as the 09 has all the power in the mid range

Lol i think the gen 4 looks light years ahead of the gen 2. Gen3 was just hideous but now they nailed it👍🏼

True! The Brembo master cylinder is a great improvement! And the Brembo calipers on the SP even more!

Yeah they are knockoffs. Same thing. Can't see much but they look alright
How is the suspension? Is it fully adjustable? Can you set it where it has a very plush ride, like a Cadillac?

You need to close the throtel wen you down shift on QS dont do down shift wen the throtel is open just up and down wen you close
Not if you have a Gen 3 quickshifter. It doesn't matter
with the 09 torque there is never a reason to downshift while accelerating.
